“The location is great. Having a walking/biking path just steps from the rooms is the best. The room was well-cleaned but the carpet, although vacuumed by the maid service, was something I couldn’t get past. It felt filthy and damp, gross, so I kept shoes on. The upholstered corner chair and/or that area of the room smelled like urine. The bathroom lighting is poor and the towel rack too far from the tub/shower. And we were given no washcloths. “The location is lovely; ocean front with a nice balcony to enjoy the view. Everything else was way below expectations. We arrived at 9:30 pm and there was no one at the reception; they just left the keys and an emergency number to call. The shower in one of the rooms didn’t work; the room’s décor was so excessively golden and overdone that I wondered if at some point it had been a love hotel, and on top of that it was already outdated. I really don’t understand how it has such a high rating.”

“Unfortunately there’s really nowhere to walk. The street is too narrow to walk into the village and there’s no beach access. But the property has stunning views and the cabins are cozy and fully appointed. As long as you don’t mind driving half a mile to town or to other areas, the stay itself is very nice and comfortable.”

“It was a lovely place to stay, in a convenient location, and the owners were very friendly and helpful. The supplied wifi was very good (a concern in this area, because cell service is spotty). A note for EV drivers, especially those coming from urban areas: Be sure to plan out your charging stops ahead of time, because once you get out to Hwy 1 on the coast, chargers, especially high-speed ones, are not exactly thick on the ground. “We stayed in the Cypress Cottage. It was very quiet and comfortable. You could see the ocean from the window and the kitchen was stocked with all you need for cooking. They supplied coffee, tea and a complimentary bottle of wine. The carpet needed to be removed due to age in the eating area, stained. Upon entry the cabin smelled of dogs from the past. We had to air it out. We were not particularly bothered by this being a dog owner ourselves but not what we wanted to smell on a getaway...
