After a very nice stay in this hotel in sept 2013 I decided to try again for a trip with my mom and husband. What I remembered as a charming and welcoming place has become a huge disappointment.
The place didn’t seem to have been properly taken care of (bathrooms and furniture look old), and the building, in June, was very cold. If individual heaters are provided that help with smaller rooms, the bigger ones remain cold ... the fact that the property is bad isolated and that entry doors remain open doesn’t help.
An un expected problem was the noise. While this mainly depends on the room you get (the ones in the gallery upstairs avoid this problem) in the rooms in the building you either hear your neighbors, people in the lobby or students from a nearby music school practicing.
But most disappointing was the attention we received at the reception. When we requested a change of room after our return from Machu Picchu the reception person responded reactively as if the noise was not their problem ... completely unnecessary!
As other reviewer said this place is closer to a hostel than to a boutique hotel, and it is definitely possible find better and more welcoming places for the same prize in Cusco.
