We continue to work on the updating the property each winter. As we are a small rural community, some businesses are taking proactive measures to prevent the spread of communicable diseases. Implementing strategies for disease prevention is crucial for the well-being of the community members and our visitors. We hope you to welcome you back soon!

Hi Sandy! Ants, including flying ants, are highly adaptable creatures, and their behavior can be influenced by various environmental factors, including temperature and humidity. We are all aware that the winter of 2023-2024 has been a very odd one. In terms of maintenance, the timing of ant-related activities like swarm control or nest management might need adjustment due to these changing patterns and we effectively rectified the issue immediately. We appreciate you sharing this information with us so that we were able to take care of it. Also, we did inspect the room 45 minutes prior to your arrival at which point there were no ants present. As these types of ants are nocturnal, we believe they came out over night, which is very unfortunate and not ideal for anyone. As you have already discussed this with our management team, we did refund 50% of the total fee back to you and cancelled your second night without penalty. We sincerely hope that you will give us another chance in the future.

We do our best to communicate things such as this with our guests in an effort to provide the best experience possible. We hope you will visit again in the future so that you can experience the delicious offerings from the Cook and Butcher.

We are working on strategies to avoid this in the future and please be aware that there were repercussions for their behaviour and lack of respect for the property, staff and our other hotel guests.

Thank you for sharing William! The sea lions are an amazing thing to experience, but they can get loud at times. We do offer complimentary ear plugs if needed. For your reference, they only visit for a month or two each year, typically October - mid November.

Thanks for taking the time to share Terry! We have been renovating the property in stages and we have 3 floors of guest suites updated and the restaurant was also just renovated. For future reference, our executive suites (5th floor), patio suites (1st floor) and deluxe king suites (4th floor) have all new furniture, appliances, fixtures etc. We fell behind on renovations by a couple years due to the pandemic. You received a confirmation email when you made your reservation which indicated that stay over services (or maid service) are available upon request through our front desk. Fresh linens (sheets, towels etc), additional coffee, creamer etc are also available upon request and most of the time we will deliver these items directly to your room. May I ask if you contacted our front desk regarding your questions?

Thank you for sharing Jeffrey! We did fall behind on our renovations due to the pandemic, but we also have managed to renovate 3 floors of suites since then. Should you decide to return again, maybe consider booking a deluxe king suite, patio suite or executive suite which all have brand new bathrooms. The executive suites have walk in showers, so if a bath tub is needed, we recommend a deluxe king or patio suite. The hot tub broke down on the day of your arrival, it was not pre planned maintenance that caused it's closure. It is unfortunate when unexpected maintenance issues arise. Hopefully everything will be perfect should you decide to visit us again.
