I have been to Moonstone Landing about 5 times. A couple of those times, I stayed in the oceanfront room, upstairs. If you can afford it, that would be the best room on this property.
This time, I stayed in a downstairs room with a partial ocean view. So my review is based on this stay.
Pros:
-cheCk in was fast and efficient. Laura, at the front desk, was fast, efficient and professional.
-The room was ready early which was a plus. The room was clean and had ample room for one person-would be fine for a couple as well. Moonstone rooms also has bathtubs which I love because I usually like to take a bath when I travel.
-The continental breakfast is very nice-lots of choices (boiled eggs, fruit, delicious pastries, juice, coffee).
-The reason i frequent Moonstone is the epic views. The path that is right out front is absolutely fantastic. I walk it 2-3 times a day. There is also a beautiful trail (Fiscalini Ranch Trail) which is also minutes away by car. Also, there are other sites within 10-15 miles which are well worth the drive (Hearst Castle, Elephant Seals etc.)
-The town, which is about a 5-10 minutes drive is absolutely lovely.
Cons:
-my room was slightly dark because it was 1st floor. It basically parallels parking lot so u could not leave windows open.
-plumbing is real loud. I could hear the plumbing from upstairs as well as footsteps etc.
-No ac on this property. In my room, I felt it was necessary as I couldn’t leave windows open.
