Hotel closed down but charged money
We booked this hotel one day ahead. When we arrived at the hotel we found construction fence all around and no lights or activity anywhere behind it. Walked twice all the way around the fence and found the only "entrance" was a gate for cars which was shared with another building. There the guard told us the hotel is closed down. Walked around again to really make sure and a lady from neighboring building confirmed it is really closed down. Double checked it is the right place - same as on picture, said "Zhuhai Dionysus" on it, and right address.
So we walked to a different hotel nearby and booked there. Still, our money for the "Zhuhai Dionysus" was charged to my credit card. Turns out there is no other way to cancel than Orbitz hotline (as "manage booking" doesn't show up for this hotel). There I spoke to some lady, waited for 13 minutes on the call despite being told to wait 3 minutes, and was promised I would get an email to process the refund. Haven't heard from Orbitz yet. So - terrible hotel for charging when closed, and also terrible service from Orbitz - imagine someone travelling for a longer time and not knowing China, likely don't have a local phone plan, suddenly stuck without the money for the lodging and nowhere to stay. Now I just hope I will get my money back
