{"id":963,"date":"2015-05-28T15:23:49","date_gmt":"2015-05-28T15:23:49","guid":{"rendered":"\/stories\/valle-de-bravo-un-tratamiento-por-si-mismo\/"},"modified":"2015-05-28T15:23:49","modified_gmt":"2015-05-28T15:23:49","slug":"valle-de-bravo-un-tratamiento-por-si-mismo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.expedia.mx\/stories\/valle-de-bravo-un-tratamiento-por-si-mismo\/","title":{"rendered":"Valle de Bravo, un tratamiento por s\u00ed mismo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">A quintessential place to spend a weekend, two hours from Mexico City, Valle de Bravo is, by itself, a space that invites rest, meditation and self-care: not for nothing in the early years de la Colonia was stripped of its original name Mazahua (Pameje), to baptize it as San Francisco del Valle de Temascaltepec, which in Nahuatl means mountain of steam baths or temazcales. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Just towards the middle of the 19th century it was named in honor of General Nicol\u00e1s Bravo.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">The air that is breathed comes from the coniferous forest that surrounds the artificial lake &#8211; inaugurated in 1955, as part of the Miguel Alem\u00e1n Dam project &#8211; which has given rise to the current beautiful lake landscape.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Now, although the goal is to forget everything, travelers know very well that, before proceeding to close your eyes and succumb to the horizontal, curiosity forces you to know the recently trodden site.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12944\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12944\" style=\"width: 494px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12944\" src=\"\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Valle_1.png\" alt=\"Valle de Bravo, State of Mexico.  Photo: CC\" width=\"494\" height=\"364\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12944\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Valle de Bravo, State of Mexico. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Photo: CC<\/span><\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">The main attractions of \u201cValle\u201d are the lake, and the characteristic tile-topped buildings that allow you to walk the streets without getting wet \u2014even if it is raining. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">In addition, the population has several spaces worth visiting, such as the portals, the Church of San Francisco de As\u00eds in the Plaza de la Independencia, or Santa Mar\u00eda Ahuacatl\u00e1n, the second church in the area, with its Black Christ. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">From the plaza \u201cel Pino\u201d you can see the 700-year-old ahuehuete that drains from underground sources and gives life to the colonial fountain on this corner of the main street Joaqu\u00edn Arcadio Pagaza, who was one of the characters, along with the painter Alberto Gironella, who had his home and studio in these alleys. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">To complete the circuit, you must visit the Archaeological Museum, which houses finds from the area.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12942\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12942\" style=\"width: 623px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12942\" src=\"\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Valle.png\" alt=\"Carmel Maranath\u00e1 House, in Valle de Bravo.
