This half-day tour will give you an overview of Red River Delta - one of the cradles of Vietnamese culture. With a thousand of years of history, it has been having many stories to tell. This trip takes you to outstanding cultural sites and traditional villages to learn more about this mythical land by visiting handicraft villages, bonsai farms, and an ancient house.

You will be picked up at your hotel in Hanoi Old Quarter and head to the outskirt of Hanoi. You will take a drive-by jeep on the dike of the Red River. On the way, you will stop at Bat Trang Ceramic Village – it is well known throughout Vietnam for its beautiful and solid ceramics and has been very famous for its ceramic products over the last 500 years. Have a short walk through the narrow alley to the river bank, on the way you could visit a family workshop and learn how they make the ceramic products. The products become quite commercial now but the old part of the village is still worth visiting. You can go to visit the family workshop where the whole process of making ceramic will be explained to you carefully. Jeep will meet you on the other side to continue the trip.

After leaving the village, you will continue driving on the dike, you will pass by the area where the local's expertise in cultivating bonsai and kumquat for new year decoration. You will get to know about how people prepare for Tet (lunar new year) from house decoration to the foods.

You will pay a visit to an ancient house and meet the hospitable host, have a cup of tea, and listen to his introduction of 300 years old house, it is full of antiques. His grandfather was a Mandarin and his father was a Confucian scholar so they will tell you the interesting stories about his family. Besides his ancient house, he also loves to tell you about his beautiful garden and how his grandfather applied Fengshui in choosing the location and house construction. You will be invited to have lunch prepared by his wife, a lady with “happy- ending face”. During the meal and you will get to know more about the philosophy behind the cuisine of Northern Vietnam. Say good-bye to the warm-hearted host, you will transfer back to Hanoi, end of the trip
