The Esplanade Hotel was great value for money, (Room 32) We would highly recommend it for a comfortable night and a most amazing and enjoyable breakfast. The front desk receptionist (Lilly) was very helpfull.

The hotel is on the Sea Front within walking distance of the Pier but far enough away to avoid the noise..Our room was nice and bright with a lovely sea view to wake up to. The bed was lovely and soft It was nice to have a Fire-stick in the TV with a variety of channels to watch including Netflix and Prime lastly the hotel served a nice full English breakfast to get the day going.Overall exceptional value for money will definitely book again

Basic and unkempt '
Very run down ' ' couldnt see sea view clearly out of windows as dirty inside and outside double glazing ' bathroom shower awful ' plug hole was absolutely rank ! ' needs lots bleach ' shower itself was just a trickle no power at all ' not a power shower ' very basic . Bed was fairly comfy ' asked for non smoking room' room had cigarette ash covering window sill ' Breakfast ok ' not asked what bread we wanted or choice of egg ? ' just served white toast and fried eggs ' Ok for one night stop' over ' but wouldnt go again

Good choice.
Was a great location, warm and friendly staff, great service, comfortable and welcoming. The building could use a bit of a makeover looks a little worn and tired. Would recommend even so. Thank you.

Advertised as having restaurant and bar. Restaurant closed three days a week and only fish and chip bar when open. Bar closed for "pipe cleaning" on Monday. Not really a hotel just B&B.

Wifi didn’t work in the room. Room in general a bit filthy, random abs unpleasant smell in the hallway. Curtains didn’t open properly. Breakfast a bit poor for veggie options but the poached eggs were good.

Disappointing
Hotel needs refurbishing. Shower scalding hot. Sand on carpet. No wifi in the bedroom. Even in reception very slow. No phone, we were on the 2nd floor at one end of building. No lift. Definitely not a 3*. Staff polite but not motivated to make a good impression. Very disappointed for a first trip out after lockdown. Plus side, room had an excellent view of the seafront, the pier, the hundreds of wind turbines in the sea. Breakfast was very nice. Condition of Hotel lets it down. Car park for 4 cars at the back of hotel. You have to go out front door into the road and follow it round the next turning right.

Quiet simple hotel with comfortable room overlooking the sea. Poor tv signal and no WiFi in room but a pleasant out-of-season stay at a reasonable price. Lovely breakfast.

Pretty basic hotel with the worst shower that I've ever experienced. Marta, who served breakfast, was an absolute star and single handedly saved the weekend!

expect no sleep
Fire alarm set of by Council residents smoking in room at midnight , then at 4.30 am fight and arguments including violence to a child outside my room door again council residents living in the top rooms of hotel. I shall never go back.

We were the first customers after the quarantine and we enjoyed our stay! Pleasant staff, very tasty breakfast and comfortable bed with amazing seaview! The only issue we had - was shower issue where it almost didn’t work, but it didn’t affect our stay experience!

No fuss hotel
We requested a lower floor room as my husband has a disability, however we were put at the very top of the hotel which was very difficult I did inform them that I had requested a lower room. There were no signs where the carpark was we had to park in another street n walk to the hotel, the staff told us where to go for the carpark but when we got there there was no places left so had to go back and park in another street

Staff grezt, walls thin, beeate neighbours noise!
Staff friendly, room big and decent. Spoilt by being woken at 2am.by room next door having domestic. Went on for some time shouting, swearing. Not ideal when i had a 6 year old in my room. Walls are thin and offered no protection...real shame. Told staff and emailed hotel several times but no reply.

Short stay
Short stay while visiting family. The hotel is a little dated but was clean and the staff welcoming. We had a lovely room overlooking the sea. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean. Breakfast was very tasty.

Chambre tres spacieuse décorée avec goût. Hotel très propre chambre donnant sur la mer. Breakfast tres bon saucisse , oeuf, tomates, bacon , champignon s, toasts, beurre confiture, jus fruits, cereales lait. Super.

Good old Clacton
We stayed at the Adelphi......The Hotel is rather old and a little tired looking....... never the less we had a nice couple of days. Good atmosphere...good staff. .....good breakfast ...would stay again At The Adelphi if we ever go to Clacton again.......highly unlikely....unfortunately. Spent many weeks in Clacton in my school years with my grand parents.... Some 60 odd years ago......IT has not changed that much since then.......OK if the sun is shining. The beach is good. The pier needs a complete overhaul....or sink it. My partner (her first visit stated what a dump!... It still gave me some pleasure from my memories. I played the harmonica in talent competition I think I was ten....I won a set of hair brushes......gave them to my Father.......I have them now.....Roy Brown... now 80+

In need of a deep clean.
Good position , excellent views. Rather tired hotel in dire need of some money spent refurbishing it. Shower almost unusable due to low water pressure in the room we had. Some Power sockets are located behind furniture which necessates twisting around and leaning down the side to plug in the hairdryer ( had no choice of socket for this as hairdryer lead went through hole in the back of a drawer )Kettle was also situated on these drawers so remember to move it to prevent scalding accidents !Curtains have no linings so if the morning light wakes you take an eye mask you will need it. Everything just had a slightly stale smell and in need of a deep clean. The breakfast was very good and is taken in the adjoining fish and chip restaurant. Fish and chips are also very tasty and piping hot here too. Very small car park to the rear but no access to hotel from here so you must walk with bags along the street , round the corner to the front of hotel which is worth bearing in mind if travelling with small children.

Overall enjoyable stay
Had a one night stay here.hotel room was very clean staff were very friendly breakfast was incuded in price and was very nice... down side was that the shower was quite small i am only 5 foots 4 and had a.problem bending in shower to pick up shampoo ect so my 6ft 3 husband had no chance he couldnt even get through the shower door....it also states it has smoking and non smoking rooms this is not the case this is a non smoking hotel throughout .. On the up side very close to the pier and lovely views from the hotel room

Great Location, View and Room
Bed and Breakfast Hotel with a great location and view overlooking the sea and the pier. Even a first class fish & chip restaurant attached with lovely modern touches where a good traditional English Breakfast is served in the morning. Although I use for my business trips, as a summer location to bring the family it is great as only across the road to head down to the lovely sandy Clacton-on-Sea to Holland beach, with nice Café on the sea-Front and short walk to amusements and Pier.
