Great Get Away
This was a great location to visit both Elk Rapids, Traverse City and Bellaire. My husband an I enjoyed all the space of this listing and could see bringing a larger group to this listing in the future. It was a great stay even in the non-tourist season.

Excellence in Elk Rapids
We thoroughly enjoy our stay at Steve & Tami's place on Spruce Street. Their cozy and well kept place was a fabulous base of operations for our trip to join local friends for celebrating St. Pat's Day. Four of us from out of town and our friends from Kewadin enjoyed a couple of meals together and time just hanging out in the comfortable living room. We took a couple of walks into town, and a couple of drives into Traverse City. A fabulous time was had!

Awesome!
My friends and I have stayed here twice for our annual get togethers. Beautiful and functional home, and easy walking distance to downtown Elk Rapids. We have only stayed here in the winter, but I imagine it would be even better in the summer. Can’t beat it for the price.

Stay in Elk Rapids Michigan
It was a very nice place to stay while in town for a wedding. Plenty of space and a cute place. A lot of yard area as well with a beautiful large tree on the corner. Walking distance to the beach and downtown was great!

We take a girls trip every year and always at a different location. We chose this place for the location and within walking distance of so much. Although we had a great stay and There is a lot of charm to this house, there are several issues that need tending to. For starts we could barely open the from screen door as it scrapes along the walkway and the screen is broken and metal pieces sticking out. Open the front door and it’s very musty smelling. Played a big part in all of our allergies. There is mold on the ceilings in the bathroom. Huge lack of towels. There were 6 bath towels, 3 hand towels and 1 kitchen towel. 1 bath towel per person is not enough especially if you say this accommodates up to 10 people. We had to bring our own washcloths. There are excess bees all over, one of our ladies was stung twice in the middle of the night. Glad she Carrie’s her epi pen as she is allergic. We killed a total of 7 bees inside the house. The AC units were a plus and kept the house quite cool. We tried to use the TV but simply couldn’t figure it out, we just wanted to watch the lions but couldn’t even get local channels. There is not instruction manual at all of the house. We just tried to figure out things along the way. There is a grill but we could not use it as it was so dirty. There are also 2 back doors leading to the backyard but we could not use them as they were so overgrown with trees and weeds. Not much curb appeal. Lastly, the bedding was nice but the beds were Hard.

Hi Elizabeth, Thank you for the thorough and honest review. I do wish that we had been given an opportunity to address these items during your stay when we checked in with you to see how things were going. There was no communication from you to indicate all was not 100%. I can say that we have never had any issue with bees inside, and we were just at the house after your stay. Perhaps they made their way in through an open door or window, I could not be sure but I am sorry that your friend was stung. The rental agreement for the house does state that one towel per person will be provided and we do not provide washcloths. All guests know this prior to their stay, as we require an acknowledgement of the Agreement to make sure it is read. The landscaping has all been cleared out and the bathroom ceiling has been taken care of. The Rental Agreement does give information about how to access TV channels, and we do make ourselves completely available to all guests, and we would have loved an opportunity to help. I hope that this offers some helpful info, although its after the fact.

Great location near beach and downtown
My family had a pleasant stay at this property. The location can’t be beat with a 3 min walk to beach and downtown. The house is as described, small and cozy but with 3 bathrooms to accommodate larger groups. We had friends in the area so didn’t spend too much time in the house. Would consider renting again.

Great location for our family trip
Nice house with plenty of space for 3 adults and 2 kids. Easy walk to the beach, and easy drive to traverse city and our day trip to sleeping bear dunes. The town of elk rapids, also walking distance, was wonderful as well. We'd be glad to stay and visit again.

We came up for a relaxing girls weekend and that's exactly what we got! The house was amazing, clean, plenty of room, nice beds and a couch for relaxing with Netflix! We took many walks around town..it's beautiful! The view from the house is great, seeing lake Michigan every day is wonderful. We took a trip into Traverse City, had a big snowstorm but it was still beautiful. We checked out Pearl's in Elk Rapids..highly recommend!! We will be back !

Recently we stayed for a week at this property in downtown Elk Rapids. The home was very well maintained. Very clean and comfortable. There wasn't anything that we needed that it did not provide. The hosts were very prompt in communication and very accommodating. We would love to return to this home in the summer to enjoy all that Elk Rapids has to offer!

Cute home just what we needed for our time spent in MI. What a lovely town very assessable to a number of different attractions. Would recommend a waffle iron, full length mirror, zip loc bags in a variety of sizes and more hand towels. Overall it fit our needs for a great trip to MI. We fell in love with MI.

Wonderful Location
Elk Rapids is a cute small town with beautiful views. The location of this property was perfect. Even my toddler could handle walking to all the sites from here. The house itself is old so it had the typical old smell to it (a little rough on our allergies - dust mold mildew) but it was very apparent that the owners took pride in making it look very cozy, updated and clean on the inside. The only thing that we did notice is the floors are very slippery and don't feel super sturdy so our toddler did fall a few times but she was ok. The ceilings upstairs are very short on the sides so you need to be mindful when moving around the rooms because its super easy to smack your head on the ceiling. My two older kids and myself all hit our heads a fair amount of times and we are short. My husband is 6 1/2 ft tall so he didnt even attempt to go upstairs. The view of the bay from the window in the living room is blocked by trees but maybe in the early spring or late fall you could see it when the leaves are not on the trees. This was not a major problem but noting for anyone expecting differently. The house itself had everything we could need (except a pizza cutter but we can obviously make due without that). They was plenty of beds and sleeping spaces. The mattresses were fairly hard but clean. Each room had a window air conditioner and they seemed to keep the house cool. Outside each window there were lots of cobwebs and some creepy looking spiders but we saw minimal spiders inside. The house was very clean. The showers had great water pressure. The yard has a very cool willow tree that the kids loved hiding under. There were outdoor games and lots of outdoor seating but we didn't have a chance to try any of it out. The owners were good at responding to issues right away and providing clear instructions on what needed to happen at check out. Also, in response to other reviews we saw... there is a vacuum cleaner and a very small broom at the house. There were bleach stains on the towels but who cares they were clean. There are crazy spiders but mostly outside so unless you are super afraid of spiders it is typical for an older house surrounded by plants and trees. All in all, we enjoyed our vacation. I would recommend this house for anyone that doesn't have allergies. That was the hardest part for us.

Multiple safety issues, health issues with mold in bathrooms
This house is flat out unsafe, there are multiple dangers- on the upstairs landing the wood is split & falling apart, with long slivers sticking out , nails & screws protruding from entry & back stairs , mold & mildew in 2 of the bathrooms , dozens of spiderwebs with large spiders in kitchen, bathrooms, by the doors, on the front porch &!bedroom windows, The bathrooms at the park are better maintained. I notified the owners the first afternoon about the spiders & cobwebs everywhere as well as the stained towels, they responded promptly by text & sent a cleaning person to bring by additional towels & to clean the cobwebs & spiders out but the only thing she did was apply clear tape around the window ac , none of the cobwebs or spiders were removed. Our family members were in rentals down the street & had no issues with cobwebs or moldy bathrooms. We found more problems almost every day. Our 2 year old grandson had his foot sliced open by a nail protruding from the step. My son almost fell down the full flight of stairs when the wood at the top of the landing split & gave way. There appears to be no maintenance of the property. The carbon monoxide detector was in 3 pieces sitting on the counter. The towels are thin & practically threadbare, the owner replied “new ones had been ordered” but we never saw them after being there a week. Really?? Amazon delivers in a day & Meijers is just a short drive away, so there’s no excuse. A repair service or maintenance man should have been there before the place was listed for rent, there’s no oversight of the property. It ruined our vacation having to be constantly vigilant about these issues.

Marie did not seem happy with her stay from the beginning. We sent a cleaner out to swap the towels- they had been bleached by accident, so they were actually very clean, and she wanted some spiderwebs swept from the outside of the house. We made attempts to accommodate her, we fixed the trim that got broken during her stay, and we even gave her a bit of a refund to make things smooth, but sometimes we can't please everyone.

Beach Time
The house is in a great location, 5 minutes to downtown and maybe 3 minutes to the beach. Overall, the house was good and we had a great time. Our main issues were none of the windows opened so we could not enjoy the nice lake breeze and there were lots of spiders and spider webs so the house didn't seem like it was 100% cleaned.

Our family had a blast. PERFECT location just a block to beach. Air Con was a lifesaver with 90 plus temps. Fire pit was great, we used it every day. Grilled our dinner and chilled at the beach with periodic walks to town for shopping and food. Elk Rapids is an all American family dream.

This house was the perfect size for my family (6 adults and 2 kids) plus 2.5 bathrooms! The house is a 2min walk to the beach and a 7min walk downtown. Great location for a summer visit.

Good location
It was a very nice place to stay, we were there In December of 2021. We rented home to celebrate my brothers 70th birthday unfortunately there was a storm there a day or two before we arrived and the cable and internet were out. The owners worked well with us to try and get it working but no success. There possibly was a line down and we decided not to stay another night because it probably would not get fixed until we left.

Elk Rapids is the cutest place!!
We absolutely loved our stay. Corner property with water views--safe playground / pickleball courts / Beach area/basketball/downtown awesomeness all within a very short walk. We rented e-bikes and rode All through the neighborhoods. Hubbed out of this area to enjoy Mackinac island, Sault ste Marie, traverse City and all the in betweens. Felt like staying in families' house with all the little things they left to make the stay great. Ate outside underneath the red umbrella and sat on the front porch to enjoy early morning readings. We travel a lot and agreed it was one of our favorite locations to enjoy friends and family!

Perfect family getaway
We booked this property for my parents' 50th anniversary weekend. My parents, my sister's family, and my family all stayed here, with 4 kids ranging in age from 4 to 11. Not only was the location perfect: only a block to the beach and the charming downtown; the property itself was perfect for kids. Ours had a great time playing in the yard, especially under the huge weeping willow tree. The property owners were very responsive during our stay as well. Elk Rapids itself seems to be a wonderful community. Everyone we met in town was very friendly. We would love to make a return trip some day.

Exceeded Expectations
The location of this house was incredible! It was a stone’s throw from the beach and right around the corner from the main shops and restaurants. The inside was very updated and there were way more amenities than we expected. It was clean and comfortable slept our party of 6. The neighborhood was quite and the lot was huge. The owners were friendly and responsive. It was easy to dine with good directions. They even had a Netflix account setup! We couldn’t have been happier!

2nd Stay - Still In Love!
This is the second time our family has stayed in the property and we couldn’t have been happier. The owners have done some upgrades since the last time we stayed - and they were much appreciated. All of the furniture is comfortable and a well fit. Most importantly the home is clean and well stocked with towels, bedding and kitchen supplies. The house is located just a few minute walk to downtown which is great with little ones. No need to load up the car - just slip your shoes on and take a walk to the park, movie theater or grab a bite to eat. Owner was very responsive and helpful with questions that we had before and during our stay. I would highly recommend staying at this home!

Winter Wonderland Family Vacation
This home was perfect for our family of 5 adults and 5 children. We slept in the bedroom downstairs and our kids and grandkids comfortably shared the upstairs bedrooms. The kitchen and dining area is large and roomy, there are 3 bathrooms, and the living room has plenty of seating. The home is centrally located and only short drives were required to get to snow tubing, Ranch Rudolph, and Traverse City. We’re hoping to visit again in the summer.

Perfect Location
3 adult (60 plus) couples spent a week here. The home was more than adequate. The 2 1/2 baths was perfect. The kitchen is equipped with just about everything you could imagine. We didn’t cook but we certainly could have. The living room was big enough for us to play board games. Or just relax and watch tv. The upstairs bedrooms are quite large there are no closets but there was a dresser. The downstairs bedroom was small but adequate it does have a small closet. The yard is vast has a fire pit, gas bbq and yard games available. We were able to park 4 small trailers along with our trucks in the driveway. We also kept 6 bikes on the property. The location is excellent. You can see the bay from the kitchen and living room Windows. It is a short walk away. There is a playground and tennis and basketball courts at the Beach park that is minutes away. You can easily walk to town and to the Day/Art park. It is also just a couple blocks to the marina and boat launch. The owners are very responsive to any and all messages. They do their best to help answer questions and keep the renters happy. This place is perfect for a couple families or like us, 3 couples. We would return if we came back to Elk Rapids.

Comfortable house in great location
This is a very comfortable house that has been updated nicely, but still very cottage-like and cozy. Great location just one block from the park and beach. You can walk to restaurants and ice cream as well. We had 8 people, and it is a little tight for that many with just 3 bedrooms since all were age 14 or higher. The 2 1/2 baths really help with a larger group.

The beautiful house was perfect for our family of 5 (with extra space!). The house was clean and looks like it was just renovated. The house sits on a nice sized property with a fire-pit. Lots of room to run around! The park, beach, and Lake Michigan are a block away. The owners went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. There were lots of little “extras” in case we forgot anything. We will definitely be back and recommend this home to anyone looking for a relaxing place to stay. I couldn’t recommend this place more!!! Thank you!

GREAT HOME AWAY FROM HOME!
My family and I had a wonderful stay in Elk Rapids a few weekends ago. The home was perfect for our stay. The upstairs bedrooms are very spacious and well equipped. The kitchen was stocked with everything you would need just bring your food and drinks. The owners have made very good use of the space. We thought it was a nice touch having shower gel and shampoo/ conditioner in the bathrooms. The town of Elk Rapids is adorable! We enjoyed going out to eat and also attended a movie which was wonderful - all in walking distance of the home. The property was perfect to play outside in the yard and build a snowman. The owners were very responsive and helpful. We can’t wait to come and stay again!!!
