Great family retreat spot
Our group consisted of 4 of my daughts, my wife, and my elderly mother in law (with 2 pups). We loved the house and enjoyed the stay. We found lots of good hiking nearby (one really good one is a half mile away). Staying at this high of elevation definitely took a toll on us as Midwesterners. That was a known factor up front but definitelycomes into play more than we have noted at the 10,000 and 9,000 ranges we normally sleep at. I would definitely recommend this home to others. It was very nicely equipped and the accommodations were very wrll laid out and had very comfortable couches and beds too. We seen a fox, moose (2), and numerous very pretty birds in the neighborhood and really enjoyed ou r stay overall.

The log cabin was the perfect spot for complete peace and quiet. (Minus the pack of coyotes one night.) We enjoyed the short but scenic Pike Trail in the neighborhood.

Charming cabin and peaceful getaway, okay amenities
We had a peaceful few days at this property. It's very remote and the accommodations are very basic. Kitchen is not very well equipped, cleanliness wasn't up to my standards, especially when considering the high cleaning fee that is included in the booking. However, the beds were clean and pretty comfortable, the surroundings are beautiful and it is very peaceful. Fishing and hiking nearby, but not walking distance. You'll need to drive to everything. There is internet, but it is very spotty. If you need to work or do school from your getaway, you'll need to find somewhere else to stay. Since I wanted the teens to unplug for a few days, this really fit our need.

Nice cabin
The place needs some finishing in the basement and some windows could not be opened. One of the bedrooms was in that basement and one of the bathrooms was in that basement. Not very convenient. They did a secondary background check that required me to list all the people's names that were staying with me. It was embarrassing and it was not on the listing. I would not stay with them again because of the secondary background check.

getaway for Husband's bday
We have done several vacation homes and this was the first I've been unhappy with. The upkeep and 3rd party management on this cabin is questionable. I asked for early check-in and although I understand it is never guaranteed, I was told that the property needed a once over inspection that would be done by 1:30pm. I called around noon and advised we would be arriving around 1:05pm and they said we were fine to check in. When we arrived, it was clear we had not been told the truth, becasue there were no signs of anyone being on the property for sometime. It had snowed a week or so before our arrival and there were no vehicle tracks of anykind and my husband had to shovel the deck. Although the place allows dogs and that was great, I believe for the price of the cleaning fee, the cabin could have been cleaned way better. There were cobwebs (old ones too) down in the unfinished basement room, which was outside the 3rd bedroom. So although we had intended on using that bedroom and bathroom for privacy, it was not used. There was a glass in one of the bedrooms upstairs that had obviously been sitting there awhile with hard crustation of some sort in it. Towels had been sitting there and smelled dingy. We rewashed every kitchen item we used prior to us using. There was food stuck on some things and oil/grease on some of the baking items. My husband found a vacuum that hadn't been emptied in sometime as well, but he used it to vacuum the floor and couches to remove some of the hair and dirt. I completely understand that things would not be totally fresh when no one has been there, however being told we couldn't check in because someone had to do a once over and finding what we did wasn't professional. The bright side is that Fairplay is very close, so if you need something you can easily find it in town. The full size bed upstairs was plush and comfortable, quiet neighborhood, good cell service and you definitely need 4 wheel drive. If we had been told the truth and the place had better upkeep and cleanliness, it would have made the stay better.

,We were return visitors to this property. It is a short drive from Denver and perfect for a small group and it is pet friendly. A great hike it at the top of the hill.

Loved every minute
Stayed here with my family for my dads 60th birthday! Great location for nearby hikes, fun towns within a 20 min drive. And we LOVED sitting on the huge back deck at night looking at the stars and counting the shooting stars! Awesome time!

Really great cabin.
We had a wonderful visit to FairPlay CO. The cabin served are needs well. It was clean, comfortable and beautiful. We appreciated that it was dog friendly. The property manager checked in with us several times to ensure all went well.

Love the genuine log cabin!
Everything was great! The communication couldn’t have been better. We had an issue with the washer and it was quickly addressed. Saw plenty of wildlife in the area and enjoyed the hike up Pennsylvania Mountain with the trailhead at the end of the road. Loved all the cool temps in the middle of summer too!

Great location and experience!
We very much enjoyed our stay in Valley of the Sun! The property was in a great location and exactly what was represented in the listing. The property management had fantastic communication throughout our time leading up to and during our stay. We were able to disconnect from the daily grind of life and reconnect as a family. A wonderful vacation and we would highly recommend!

Just as pictured
We had an amazing time staying in the cabin. Perfect place to get away from everything with almost the same amount of snow from the profile pic. The host was very helpful and the elevation was no joke. Our kids had a loved this cabin. We would definitely stay again, especially watching the snow fall next to the fireplace.

High altitude beauty
This giant log cabin home was a beautiful spot to call home base for a week of skiing. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils and equipment. The beds were warm and comfortable. The rental agent maintained great communication and was very helpful with any questions. The rental agreement was a little unclear about not leaving pets unattended at booking and data limits for internet usage required us to “hot spot” for the kids gaming and Roku use as the only detractions. We would stay there again!

Great stay
We had a wonderful experience at this cabin. Very clean and had all of our needs and even had toys for the kids to play with in the snow. We had four adults, two kids, and a toddler. Plenty of space and rooms for everyone. Check in and out process was pretty simple. We would definitely recommend this cabin.

Week before Christmas 21
Property and location were awesome. Everything was perfect for a get away as long as you really want to get away. Picture perfect for the relaxing I needed but within an hour of both Breck and Copper . Could have used more snowfall, but not in anyone control Had a wonderful stay and would like to return for summer fun as well

Getaway Weekend
Our getaway weekend was made all the better by the well stocked home, pet friendly setting, great view and nearby trails. Communication with rental company was fantastic. Not all kitchens in VRBO's have good quality items but this home had good skillets, pot and cooking implements.

Mountain Getaway
The Valley of the Sun cabin was perfect for a weekend getaway! We enjoyed the cabin and the closeness of Breckinridge and Fairplay. The cabin was clean and comfortable. Some information we received was conflicting. Most notably the check out time. Some of the correspondence/website stated the checkout time was11:00 and some said 10:00. We were packed up and ready to leave at 10:00 which was a good thing because the cleaning person showed up at 9:45. Overall, this is a great place to stay!

Tracy, I am not sure where you are seeing an 11:00 am check out. Our check out for all homes are 10:00 am and have always been. A Nice Stay
The cabin was very nice with a rustic feel. There was adequate room for ourselves and (2) guests. The pictures and narration presented the facilities accurately. We were well pleased with the accommodations. The kitchen was spacious and well equipped, the beds comfortable, and overall we felt it is an excellent rental. Of particular note, we felt the property manager did a superior job attending to our requests and the few issues which occurred. The level of attention shown was unusual and far superior to any others we have noted in previous stays elsewhere.

Lovely peaceful setting
The house was perfect for our party of 6. The open plan space, loft and deck allowed us to be together. We appreciated the amenities left for us such as paper products, clean towels, etc. We were disappointed with two main things; the location description is a bit deceptive; very remote with the road from CO14 very rough. The house was not an easy journey to Fairplay or Breckenridge as advertised. The only other letdown was the comfort of 2 out of 3 beds; not just personal preference as another previous occupant stated; one mattress was uncomfortably hard and another sank toward the middle. If you want a quiet, secluded place, stay here. We thoroughly enjoyed game playing and reading. If you are expecting to pop into town easily, I would stay closer down the mountain road.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us John. Yes, the final few miles to the cabin are on maintain dirt roads. We have had a lot of rain this summer which means our roads are extra bumpy. We like to call it travelling on mountain time as it just means you will need to go slow and give plenty of time to arrive at your destination. As for the beds, we can pass on the information to the homeowners. They stay there often so usually its a bed preference but they are always open to suggestions so thank you!

Great cabin
Great cabin in a good location just north of Fairplay. Roads to cabin are rough but it’s expected for mountain roads. Cabin has lots of nice amenities which makes cooking and grilling easy. Great quiet get away.

Great Place
Everything about this place was amazing! So relaxing. The only thing I would suggest is updating some of the pictures. For instance we didn't bring DVDs because we thought it was an old TV with a VCR. When in reality it was a flat screen with both VCR and DVD player. But that's just piddly stuff. Overall my family and I were very happy with our stay.

Beautiful cabin and scenery
Loved every second of our vacation. The first day was rough going up the mountain due to the elevation. However, the next day we felt better and acclimated quickly. Our stay was great. We loved the cabin and my children enjoyed playing outside in the snow. Would recommend!

Great Cabin in the Mountains
Absolutely beautiful cabin in an incredible setting. Very comfortable. We were looking for a mountain cabin with snow and great views and found it here. The only real surprise was the altitude. For some reason I did not notice this cabin sits above 11,500 feet which takes a bit of acclimating to be comfortable coming from essentially sea level where we live. We very much enjoyed our stay and will likely come back in the summer to see a different perspective.

Great little cabin but really high elevation
We all ended up feeling the effects of elevation. Our phones said over 11,000 feet. We ended up getting some of the “aclimate” at the store and some other elevation medicine and that helped! Other than that the cabin was comfy, cozy, and clean- and once adjusted we enjoyed our stay.

Yes, all our home are above 9,000 feet with most above 10,500. This is why we warn you in our descriptions, send out a welcome email stating you need to speak with a doctor if you are worried as they prescribe attitude pills and we also advise on how to prepare yourself for the trip. We are in the Central Rockies and with the amazing views and location there comes some elevation!

Lovely Winter Getaway
My friends and I were excited walking into the main area of the lodge and seeing the loft. The smell of Pine lifted our spirits after coming out of the cold and we set to making it our little space and making Dinner. Getting the stove to work was a little bit of a hassle but we figured it out (Make sure the white flame starter is exposed from the gray ring when starting the burner, or it won't light itself). Then when we set to make the fire in the woodstove. That was a little more difficult. The wood we had inside was nice and dry, but we had to use all the matches to get it lit, as the fire starters ran out and all the Grill Lighters were empty. (Make sure to bring your own lighters and fire starters). Unfortunately, we didn't have the forethought to bring in anymore wood from the outside so it can dry out for the next time we wanted to use it, so starting a fire was near impossible the next night, but that is on us. Moving on, the Lodge space was comfy and fun to play in with plenty of space for my Oculus Quest. A couple notes for the rooms: When going to the upstairs bathroom, the door is slightly misaligned from the frame, so to have it properly locked, you'll want to use the handle to lift the door until the latch falls into place, and then you can lock it properly. We noticed that none of the windows have blinds, but we weren't worried about any peepers peering in. The only time we wish there had been curtains was for the window next to the woodstove as, sitting on the chair in front of it while drinking my morning coffee gave me a nice face-full of sunlight. I quickly moved to the adjacent couch that sat a little ways out of the sunlight. Otherwise, the only true quip I have was with the entry way not being properly maintained. There is a mound of ice in front of the doorstep that made it a little precarious to transport luggage in and out of the cabin. If you aren't careful, it would be all too easy to slip and fall. Overall, I enjoyed the cabin and my friends and I all had a fun comfortable time staying there!
