The reviews were so positive in all aspects. Almost everything was a disappointment. The staff were indeed friendly, except our overworked waiter at breakfast who was lethargic and not very friendly. The first thing is that no rooms as far as we could tell had exterior windows, only windows onto the central part of the hotel. Our "deluxe" room had a bed with one extremely warm duvet but the choice was that or a sheet, nothing in between, so it was sweat or be uncovered. There was no desk or separate place to sit. The bathroom was a small jewel of poor design, mainly because so small. The shower door opened such that you couldn't have a bathmat there because no lip for the shower. The shower head was nearly unadjustable and the controls behind it with the door opening out, so the only way to turn on the shower to await the arrival of hot water was to get oneself and the floor quite wet.
The "free" things were nice, snacks (tasty, nothing special), coffee (average), breakfast (pretty good, but worse than our one point of comparison), and a quite good 3h walking tour that we had not known about around the Centro. But this didn't make up for a dreary, too-small room. We had come there from a hotel of a slightly lower price right on the Bosque de Chapultepec which had hugely better rooms, considerably better breakfast, and just as helpful staff. So this was a disappointment, especially with the glowing reviews. Would stay at this hotel again only at half the price.
