Not top of the range but somewhere to sleep and get changed after a day out then off out for the night Had a good night in the bar with a game of Play your cards right thrown in

Room and 'TV' room were freezing cold. TV had 3 controls, no instructions, changing channels would lose signal. No water in the water heater and no jug to pour the water in. All blinds in the TV room broken so had to eat my breakfastin the dark. Not clear on the description that the toilet was down the corridor. Temperature impossible to control in the shower so was dangerously hot or really cold.

Booked the stay for a cosy night away. Mattresses were stained, floor was stained. Window wouldn’t stay open. Room looked dirty. Booking said we had our own bathroom. This was down the hall and not in the room. Pictures were deceiving

Worth for money value with some hiccups
Very good experience here. Well situated, clean, room was comfortable, the bathroom although was private is in a weird location, like 25 meters away from your room, and the water pressure in yhe shower kit was nil, we had to duck to have the handset lower so the water could come out. Other than that the bar has good beers, wine and snacks, and also an Indian restaurant, which to be honest the restaurant manager wanted to fool us, we ordered a plate spicy, like Indian spicy, and we got the super honey sweet option, we complained and he told us it was spicy but because we are Spanish we don't appreciated that taste, we informed him we livlve in Manchester for years, we know what spicy food is, so he came with a spicy sauce ramekin to pleases, I mean it's worth noting here, the hotel is worth-value-money except for the shower water pressure (which I could not inform the manager because I didn't see him again before leaving) and the hotel's restaurant indian manager/chef. Recommended, nice place.

Pleasant stay, lovely staff, good value for money.
Greeted by a really friendly gentleman on arrival. Can't fault their customer service, really polite, welcoming and friendly staff. I didn't realise I'd booked a bunk bed room so just beware when booking to double check, but that was completely my own fault for not reading it properly. Also if staying in a bunk room, the bathoom/toilet isn't actually in the room, but we were provided with our own bathroom, we didn't have to share with anyone. Really clean throughout, no issues with anything. Staff were so friendly and the pub downstairs was really nice. We were only here for 1 night but I would stay again.

Picture when I booked was of double bed & didscription said with bunkbeds so I thought it would be family room. But no it was a bunkhouse with just three double beds, o ensuite, & no TV, I did ask if we could be moved but was told they were full!! So we just made the best of it disappointing, none the less but the staff were excellent & friendly.

Faulty towers
Creak e creak e metal frame beds, comfortable mattress,and church, chimes and bells every half hour,small portion for the full English breakfast nice but not worth £7.50, Indian meal served there very nice for the price,big down fall to be locked in,when was told it would be the access door if comeing or going 24/7,and no body about till after 7,

Was very good for the price. The only thing I didn’t like is the bathroom wasn’t in our room. When it stated private bathroom I wasn’t expecting to go out of my room to get to it. The staff were very friendly

Hi Thanks for your good review. We do not put TV's in the bunk rooms due to the style of the accommodation and the price point. We do however have a large communal TV room within the bunkhouse.

Well the room was sort of clean , there were stains on the carpet , the toilet was hard to flush a nd the room you couldnt hardly move around in for me and my girlfriend

One night stay while at a wedding near by.Staff at the hotel were incredibly friendly and couldn’t do enough to help, they went above and beyond. Food was fantastic. Would definitely stay again if we were in the area

Ok for a night
Bit run down and could do with either a good clean or new carpet in bedroom. Comfortable bed and ok small shower. Pleasant breakfast staff and ok breakfast, but barman/ manager(?) a bit "dour". Ok place to put your head down for a night but could be so much better in such a lovely village.

Never again! Avoid! Disgrace
I arrived at this hotel unaware how to enter it! I was stood at the main door pressing the bell for around 10 minutes until a local resident pointed me to the side door. Great start! We were shown to our rooms and in all fairness were a good size and reasonable clean, although absolutely freezing! There were 3 radiators in the room and a electric halogen heater, yet none of these were on upon arrival. (Even called the hotel 20 mins prior to arrival to say we would be there soon) , The next morning we went down for breakfast all to be told we couldn't have it and we weren't booked in for it! I clearly booked breakfast on both mornings as confirmed on the booking confirmation! The lady then got the owner on the phone who wouldn't listen to me and frankly rude and argumentative told me I wasn't entitled to receive it! I explained that I booked the rooms and breakfast and it clearly confirmed to my email. Although she begged to differ saying that she only had a text saying it was just the rooms. Little did she realise this was a communication breakdown between her and the booking agent not myself! We were then served 2 rashers of fat with bacon, one tiny sausage, cheap beans and a egg. Are they serious? That night we went to bed after using a foul dated toilet /washroom,unable to shower as this was broke and would leak onto the bar! Do not touch

Sightseeing area
Stayed on a Saturday night and there was a disco going on in the public area which was rather noisy until 1a.m. we were lucky our room was not over the disco but we could still hear it. We chose a room without an en-suite and regretted it although there did not seem to be anyone else using the shared facilities. The breakfast on the Sunday morning was very good. We decided to eat in the restaurant on the Saturday night and both chose meals off the special boards which were excellent and value for money.

Comfortable & Friendly
Our vist coincided with Rothbury Music Festival so the hotel was buzzing with people enjoying the festival. The staff coped well with the additional demands. We found all the staff friendly and helpful at all times. We would definitely use this hotel again if we were going back tothe area.

Good for the price I paid, a bit tired but clean, not en suite but I knew that, never had to queue, lively with good beer, glad I brought ear plugs as I had a room above one of the bars, lots of parking nearby and easy to find, staff friendly and breakfast good.

Newcastle Hotel in Rothbury
A good welcome with a cup of tea after a long journey. Helpful in connecting to wi fi. Our room was over the bar so there was a lot of noise till after midnight.
