Walkable area, staff was helpful. May have been renovations or reorganization while we were there. There was furniture and boxes piled up in the hallways near the main entrance. Room was clean though and smelled fresh. Balcony had cigarette butts and water stains but the room served its purpose. We slept well, it was affordable and we were able to bring our dog.

The place was under construction and did not give off comfortable or relaxing vibes the room we stayed in was not renovated the tv was very static and there were mattresses lined up in the lobby to name a few things the clerk was pretty nice though so that was a plus

I don't think this property should be able to advertise until they finish renovating. There were old mattresses stacked in the lobby, the hallway on our floor reeked of cigarette smoke and all the windows at the entrance were dirty. Conversely, the room and bathroom were very clean and thankfully you couldn't smell the smoke through our door. lWhen we checked in, the young man at the desk kept us waiting because he didn't know how to operate the computer. We had to wait until the manager ginished helping another customer.

Expected minimal wear-and-tear but otherwise clean and suited for needs. Limited staff presence at front desk but helpful and friendly when available. Only complaint pertains to renovation construction that was very noisy during the day; I wish it was disclosed that this was the reason for the discounted room. However, there are many activities in the surrounding area for during the day and it provides free parking next to downtown.

There was furniture stacked everywhere, the whole building smelled of cigarette smoke and weed. The room was a non smoking room that also smelled of weed. I stayed for an hour and then left.

On a 2 day stay, no housekeeping was available, the toilet took 2 to 3 attempts to flush. The room had a strong bad odor, I did enjoy the shower though.

The pool was drained and blocked by boxes of crap. The hotel had rolled up carpets, bags of concrete, and random matresses thrown into a room that was padlocked and was supposed to be the bar or restaurant. At check in we decided this was all a sham and left after canceling. If Expedia does not issue us a full refund we will contact the BBB.

We are working on the renovation plan for updating our pool that is the reason we have our pool closed for the time being and just to clarify under the new ownership we never had a bar. We strive to make each stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible for all the guests and even though you had a prepaid booking where the reservation policy states that a full or partial amount will be charged depending on the cancellation period, our staff helped you with a same day cancellation as well. Also just to give you a better idea of the location and our property we are located in downtown St. Joseph, where you will get the beach & an ample number of great bar options at walking distance, at the most pocket-friendly room rate with free breakfast and parking. We hope in the future you will allow us to provide a great experience for you & your family by staying with us. Thank you again for taking your valuable time to share your view. Regards

Terrible service. Hotel had 1 staff running the entire place. Considering it was off-season, but still, did not feel safe. Warm water was shut off during our stay and when we complained, they said they would fix it. Next morning, still no hot water. They said breakfast was 6:30. But turns out 7:00 am. They should not be operating under the name “hotel”.

I read many of the reviews before booking and knew what I was getting into. I really appreciate that what looks like a local family is trying to renovate this property and bring it back to life....but they have missed the mark in many ways. Even the rooms that were renovated have chipped paint and scratched furniture, minimal furnishings and bedding. It felt very run-down and uncomfortable.

If you’re going to provide a morning breakfast, but not provide eggs and a meat option, at least make sure you provide better breads instead of plain bagels and white bread that has not stayed in the bread keeper overnight. The bread was dry and stale. The packaged muffins were old.

It was a good stay, they were giving the place a face lift which shows they care about they stay.

Very clean and in a great area. No closet in the room, and the shower space was tight, maybe due to being in a handicap accessible room (not requested). There was a wide gap underneath the main door, so I rolled up a blanket and put it there. Very friendly front desk staff. I would stay again.

There is a lot of updating that needs to be done. The pool is not open and for good reason. The pool area is being used for storage. The fitness center is so full of equipment that the machines that do work are running into each other. (Only some of them work.) There is no lock on the outer doors. Anyone could walk in unnoticed.
