Castro is great, but if you're doing anything but partying don't stay here. This is a loud party hotel with no staff - literally no staff - so don't expect any service whatsoever. This isn't hyperbole: the hotel operates on an app-based model with no front desk and no on-site staff. You check in via your phone. We asked for 2 extra blankets at 4pm, the person (probably overseas) who was responding told us to look in a cabinet on the first floor. No blankets there so that's it. Around 9pm we get another text response, "We can get you blankets tomorrow." There was a party on the floor above us - good for them, have fun. But of course we can't sleep. We left for another hotel around 11pm, had to fight to not get charged for the next several nights and still got charged for the night we had to leave. They want to make more money by having literally zero staff but hotels don't function with zero staff. This is a non-functional hotel.

Good hotel for a quick stay
I really enjoyed the location. It was so close to the Muni station and lots of great restaurants and bars. The free drinks with the tokens were a wonderful surprise. I did have a problem with the shower. I enjoy nice hot showers and, unfortunately, the water became luke warm within 10 minutes. Maybe that’s to encourage people to get out faster but right now, during the Winter, I like getting out of the shower nice and toasty. There was also a lot of noise happening at night and I don’t mean street noise, which was an anticipated concern. We kept hearing dishes clinking until nearly midnight, which I thought was strange. Overall, I would recommend this location.

This is one of those contactless hotels that I have been hearing about. Was skeptical about it but it was right around the corner from my kids' apartment so I went for it. It was great. Never saw another person while I was there. The "staff" was at my fingertips and was always making sure I was all set. I will be staying at their Alexandria location for my next trip.

My room was very small with little floor space and extremely noisy (coming from the street, the next room and the room above). The neighborhood was excellent, the shower was very nice, the small balcony was pleasant, the rooftop lounge had wonderful views and the bed was extremely comfortable. Thank goodness because the room was ALL bed. Didn’t love not having someone on the premises to resolve any issues. Communication was mostly via email and text which was frustrating. Perhaps it was my oversight but I was not aware that there was no front desk at the property until I had already booked. (Impossible to reverse!) For the price I’d prefer to have a front desk.

I love this place! Is queer friendly! It’s safe! It’s expensive but in a good way, because it’s that safe! I am new to the city and I get nervous due to crime being common in cities, but The Castro Hotel and the very district makes me feel safe and comfortable with myself and my surroundings. I love everyone one this neighborhood!

The rooms are so cute and nice! They have cookies, coffee, tea, earplugs, eye covers, everything to make your stay comfortable and they even give you a token for a free drink downstairs! Location is also great. No staff on site, but honestly didn't matter because everything needed was provided. If you do need help, you're able to text them. Loved staying here.

The room was great! The area was incredible! It’s not a traditional hotel where you can get room service and stuff but there are plenty of restaurants/bars in the area. The rooms where updated, clean and nice. The staff at the bar downstair were amazing. The only call out is thE blinds in the room did not work and its open to the courtyard. When we called to try and get a resolution, we were introduced to a BOT which was not helpful. The whole trip there was NO PRIVACY!!

Super close to heart of Castro. Nice balcony and modern ambience. Late check in was only issue, nowhere to stow luggage pre check in.

The picture I saw appeared that the room was slightly larger than what I encountered when I arrived. Everything was clean it worked for a solo vacation but I wouldn’t have two people in that room. Surrounding city was nice and the best I could find in the Castro area

Boutique in the Castro
Fantastic location in the Castro with great restaurants and amenities surrounding. Rooms are nice and efficiently laid out. Virtual front desk works well and rooms overlooking front street and rooftop deck provide for nice indoor/outdoor areas.

Five stars all around! From the check in experience to the fabulous rooms to the amazing location. We can't wait to come back again! The hotel opened recently but we were pleasantly surprised how smooth everything went. They spared no detail in the rooms. The wifi was fast enough to take a zoom call with no problems. Don't forget to take a photo from the rooftop!

Five stars for the location alone, you really cant find a better spot in the Castro. The room was small but you can tell they thought of every little detail, like the nespresso machine and really cool artwork. The manager, Ola, was very friendly and accommodating. Definitely recommend if you want to enjoy the Castro's nightlife since the location is so convenient.

One of my favorite boutique hotels! It just opened recently, and it felt like we might have been the first ones to stay in our room! Everything was in perfect condition and even had that "new hotel" smell. I will note that the hotel doesn't provide parking. We parked on the street in a metered spot. We drove all around the area (definitely recommend driving up to Marin for some hiking) but could easily walk to restaurants and bars in the Castro.
