Our goal was never to be in the heart of all the tourism where you would never get the real local flavor with art and culture. We are in the art and music district also known as La Crema de Puerto Rico. It’s kinda like Brooklyn with Lux and Local flavor. We have find like dining within 3 mins from us and boutique stores, coffee shops and art galleries. We are only 3 mins from Convention Center as well. In regards to our staff we are normally there from 10 am 3 pm for cleaning and helping our current guest with anything you might need. The old way of doing things of having a front desk and waiting in line is a waste of time, space and energy. Instead we like to give our guest digital access into building after our current guest have checked out and then keep all communication via text when needed. Kinda like Batman we are here when you need us even if there’s an emergency. Our staff lives in the neighborhood and we can normally be there an any moment notice. Thank you for sharing so many details and for staying with us. Please come back again! We our hoping to open our other building across the street and plan to have (20) one bedrooms, pool, lobby, Art gallery and coffee shop.

Dear Lashondra, I am sorry to hear that you didn't feel safe in the neighborhood. I understand how important it is to feel secure when travelling, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Please know that we take the safety and well-being of our guests very seriously. I want to assure you that many families have stayed with us and had a wonderful experience without any safety concerns. We welcome families and groups going on cruises all the time, and we strive to make their stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. We are in the music and art district I'm not sure where you visited from but it's no different than Brooklyn or Wynwood with Street Art, Culture, Music, and award-winning restaurants like Cocina al Fondo that's 1 minute away from Casa Ciana walking and featured on Food and Wine, Travel and Leisure, Bon Appetit and many more. Areyto Modern Cuisine by Chef Jason Gonzalez is two buildings over from Casa Ciana. We are also not done with our project we are working on our building across the street which we plan to have (20) bedrooms, a pool, a coffee shop, an art gallery and a Spa. We haven't had any electrical issues for a while now. However, I understand that the experience may have been different for you, and I am sorry for any frustration this may have caused. We relocated some guests to other hotels and you were one of the fortunate ones that we didn't have to relocate because you weren't without electricity.Our goal at Casa Ciana since day one was to create a movement and be part of the community that you would never get in Old San Juan or Condado. Ciana is a beautiful female Italian name but in Hebrew, it means God is gracious. Our mission statement is to Serve First, Serve Fully and Serve Forever not just to our guests but to everyone in the community including animals that might look malnourished. I'm sorry that you you didn't enjoy your stay with us and I hope you give us a second chance. Hey Elena,First and foremost I'm sorry about what took place on your birthday. Unfortunately, we don't have control over the electrical grid in Puerto Rico, and when they decide to shut it off to do upgrades on their system or when an outage happens in the area. On the mainland, we are blessed to never have issues like those. But on an island things are way different. Since Hurricane Maria the island has been working on their electrical grid and things are getting better but not 100%. We do have a new generator that powers our whole building but to our luck, the generator was turning on all the electricity in the building and some ACs in some of the rooms. We had to call the company to have it serviced but again due to the area and their turn time, they weren't able to come until the next day and see what was happening. I could've easily said canceled your reservation through Expedia due to unpredictable circumstances. But Instead Raul the owner took the initiative and started calling hotels near us to find you a place for the night to not inconvenience you and your spouse more. I prepaid your stay for the night which was more than your stay here at Casa Ciana but I didn't care about that I was more concerned about finding you a place. I requested Expedia to give you a full refund and they asked if I accommodate you in any way shape or form I told them I paid for one of your stays. Again I can't control what Expedia refunds and doesn't refund. I would be more than happy to refund you money because you never stayed with us. I even told you that I would give you 2 free nights next time you come to PR as a token of appreciation for booking with us, to begin with. How come you didn't mention the other great things I did for you that NO ONE in the hospitality would go above and beyond to do for someone?It's disappointing to get a 1-star review because we go above and beyond to make sure our guests are taken care but it sucks even more when guests don't tell the full story as well and automatically give us a 1-star review to attempt to damage our credibility.Nonetheless, I will still honor for you to come back and stay the 2 free nights have no problem giving you a refund 100% assuming Expedia approves it since they didn't approve it before.

Hey Alasdair,Thank you for the review! However a little disappointed because we didn't fall short of communication. You flew in from the United Kingdom and we sent you messages directly to your phone and other forms and never responded to us. We take pride in service and communication and we will take partial blame for not being able to properly communicate. We can only assume you didn't have reception. We also sent you communication via Whatsapp and you received all of our instructions including building and room access codes but no response from you then as well. Even though we noticed you read the messages. In regards to our coffee bar area in the lobby. That's completely complimentary and we stock it throughout the day for our guests staying in our one bedroom on the first floor like yourself. You are the first guest to ever tell us that the fridge was not stocked with drinks and little coffee. Again service and little details like FREE drinks we take lots of pride. I don't know of any hotel besides a Holiday Express that will give you free coffee let alone free drinks. In regards to the area and island PR was hit with multiple hurricanes in the past years. Many areas on the island have been upgraded and transformed. In regards to ours, we are in the music and art district where we have street art, art galleries, cool boutique shops, coffee shops, speakeasy bars, and many upscale restaurants like Areyto next door to us. However, I know you flew in for a cruise and stayed with us for less than 24 hours so it was hard for you to check out our area. It's very unfortunate because being only 5 minutes from everything is also the only area will you will experience real Puerto Rican culture like Omayra's cafe across the street which is owned by 3 sisters who have been cooking real island food for the locals for a very long timeIn regards to internet access to get into the building is incorrect. We provide all check-in credentials before arrival. Our staff is there all week between 8 am and 3 pm and if you arrive after those hours our team is gone for the day but you have all the details needed including access so you won't be inconvenienced.Despite the situation we still thank you for the review and will continue to work hard to make sure we have excellent service and pay attention to the fridge so there are always drinks. We will also do a better job in making sure we communicate a few days before arrival especially with our guest coming from an international flight.God bless and thank you again!

Hey Peter,Thank you for the review! Our sign is actually on the main Street which is on Monserrate. Our main building is across the street from the building you stayed. The current building has 2 private residential suites and 3 one bedrooms on the main floor and a cool hip tattoo shop with art gallery.Our building across the street will have (20) one bedrooms, spa, pool, coffee shop and art gallery.We are definitely in the art and music district of Puerto Rico where the first Latin record label came from. We are 100 yards from the Condado Laguna and 5 mins from beach and 7 mins from old San Juan and 5 mins to convention center.We take lots of pride that we are where we are because you can’t find real culture in super tourist areas.Thank u again for staying with us!

Luis, I'm sorry you weren't able to sleep in longer. Our team doesn't typically start work until 10 am for that reason to make sure we don't make noise in case anyone is sleeping in. Unfortunately, we can't control other guest and their level of noise but we try our best to remind the guest that others are in the building. How hope you give us another opportunity. We plan to open our building across with 20 rooms, a spa, pool, art gallery, and coffee shop.
