This was an awful experience for me and my children!!! Upon arrival we were told we needed to leave and it was a scam. The current owners said they have had a few people show up unexpectedly. They said this place is no longer a bed and breakfast, and it is their home. I only talked to one person on the phone that said we were at the wrong place. He also said the water at the place was not working, so he was going to find a place to relocate us! This is all just crazy. I spoke with someone online from Expedia after that. This place needs to be off your listings!

Arrived several hours after check-in only to find a horrible smell in the room. Previous guests had left old food and melted ice cream in mini fridge. Couldn't unpack until sometime cleaned up. Finally made it to the poolbut haff ro wait for 2 guys ro finish cleaning it. Owner made us aware of a party to take place on property, but we wouldn't hear anything. Woke up to a party in the house @2am outside our door. Owner did not answer phone till 3am when he ended the party. One thing after another! We left next morning and owner prednisone a complete refund. This was 2 months ago and after 10 phone calls and many promises, we have not received a refund!

Disappointing
The location of this property is good near a vineyard with good views of the valley and vineyard but it stops there. The room had no privacy with a shower facing 2 large windows with a walkway adjacent outside and curtains that would not close. The water pressure was so bad that the bathroom was difficult to use. Bed and furniture was very old and on their last leg.

We enjoyed the large rooms and full beds that we were able to use for our family. Very nice location and Milton the host was very nice. The only issue we had was figuring out how to actually get to the property. Google maps led us to a gate that no one would answer. After calling and talking to the host we figured that out. I would recommend some kind of sign to the location to avoid this and talk to Milton before driving there.

Very disappointing stay. Dirty property, was booked for a 6 person room that wasn't ready upon arrival...I'm pretty sure the owner just went in and made the bed and didn't clean anything else. To make things worse, the room didn't sleep 6! We were given a closet for other guests to sleep in with a wall that overlooked another guests living quarters. So bizarre, would not recommend.

Not the Bed and Breakfast experience I wanted or paid for. My room was given to another guest. I paid for that particular room and, meals, and welcome drinks. We got none of the above. The house is beautiful and we did enjoy the pool and jacuzzi by ourselves for awhile. Poor water pressure and raw meat left on stove most of the day. There are neat restaurants to eat at in Old California Restaurant Row and the Winery across the road was great. The host needs to follow through with what the guests paid for.

Stayed here to attend a wedding in a venue less than 1 mile away. We loved the place and will likely return for a weekend trip. The host was very attentive and friendly; the room (the master bedroom) was huge and had a jacuzzi. Breakfast was delicious and snacks, water and drinks were included. Highly recommend staying at this place.

It is someone’s house which needs to be a lot better kept, it dirty inside the room. No towels or toilet paper, the heater they brought us because it was cold was an air purifier not a heater. Tv didn’t work there was one channel.

We have no idea who is leaving these Anonymous messages. For the benefit of future guests this property has 3 air / heat conditioning units all of them work. There is all ways supplies and towels are in every room and beach towels for the pool and spa area . We never miss any of those essentials.

We value all reviews. We do not know who this is. All bookings since reopening all guests have stayed. The property is open 24/7 and there is staff.

Best place to stay the weekend for a staycation. Vineyard is very close and the host at the property is amazing. Looking forears to staying a third night soon.

The description of the room I booked was "Entire first floor. Two king size beds. What I got was a room with a queen size bed & a cot that was shorter than my son, who had to sleep on it. The door HAD NO LOCK! We only stayed the first night because it was dark & raining and we had nowhere else to go. I have photos of the kitchen, which was filthy. We had booked 2 nights, but checked out after the first night. Orbitz refused to credit my payment.

There is no listing for entire first floor. I offered 2 Suites that was entire lower level that is the correct listing but the guest declined since the husband was not joining them wanted one suite with second bed. Entire lower level is totally a privet space so no lock on the doors this for families with 2 full suites and a living room. Our kitchen is a working kitchen dishes in the sink from late night does not constitute dirty kitchen we can not clean late night since there will be too much nice while guest are sleeping so the cleaning happens before breakfast service. This response is for the benefit of future guests.

Disappointed in such a beautiful place
The house is gorgeous. The area of town is gorgeous. The vineyard in close proximity is beautiful. It has such potential, but I was disappointed in the care of the house. Maybe it's just not really family oriented. It started the day prior, I received a call that there was an issue and that for our first day we'd be moved to the upper floor, a smaller room. I really didn't mind, as long as we could all sleep. Once we arrived, which was late in the afternoon after check-in time, we were asked to go to the vineyard and have a few drinks so the room could be finished. After about an hour I called back and he asked us to head over in 15 minutes. When we got there, the house was beautiful, but the kitchen was messy, there was a ton of glass by the pool, and the spa wasn't full with water or running. The manager stated that the dishwasher was broken, hence the ton of dirty dishes. We were shown our smaller one king bed bedroom. I had reserved the full floor with 2 king beds. I have a family of 5 and one King was not good enough. He gave us a cot for my oldest child, but I had to sleep at the foot of the bed so my kids could sleep with my wife. I have one requirement when I travel., good coffee in the morning. The manager was supposed to have breakfast he said by 8, although the reservation said by 8:30. We left at 8:20 and hadn't seen the manager yet. There was coffee, but no clean cups to drink from. We ran out of toilet paper and asked the manager for some, it was a few hours before we received any. I had to grab some from the common bathroom. I couldn't adjust the water temperature in the shower. It was too hot for the kids. The second head in there didn't work. Then no breakfast the second day was my breaking point. We were traveling to LEGOland with the family and had to leave by 8:30. We cut ourselves some fruit and did have some coffee. My guess is there was a huge party the day before we arrived and the manager was probably hung over and just having a rough weekend. I was very disappointed and upset about no breakfast and being charged 2 rooms when I get one. Maybe they should just call this "Bed" and skip the "& Breakfast". My guess is if you wanna party and wake up late, this place is perfect. It was not perfect for my family.

DO NOT GO to Sunshine Mountain!! Milton, the owner is a dishonest businessman. We paid in advanced for our stay. We showed up and Milton greeted us with these words, "We have a problem" He said he had been overbooked and would need all the rooms for an incoming party of 5. We could stay one night of our two night reservation but would have to leave in the morning. He said he could give us a refund. He said it would take 7-10 days for the refund. We choose to take the refund and find other accommodations. This was on July 2nd!! It is now August 18 and no refund. I have contacted Hotels.com three times via phone. They have called Milton. The first two times he said the refund was processing. The third time, he didn't answer the phone. I emailed the billing department at Hotets.com as directed by the agent on Aug 5, and have not received any response and still no refund. We paid $407 to stand in his living room! SAVE YOURSELF!! DO NOT BOOK ON HOTELS.COM AND DO NOT STAY AT SUNSHINE MOUNTAIN WINERY! I am very disappointed with Hotels.com for not standing up for their customers and not vetting the venues that book through their website.

I had to check out after one night stay.
Didn’t meet as mention in reservation. Dirty and no air conditioning ( air conditioning room in reservation). Only one bathroom instead of two bathrooms as mentioned in reservation. No responsible person to be contacted. Tried to reach the person by calling phone number as in reservation multiple times but no answer. I don’t recommend to stay there.

One person can't do it all and I think the owner is trying to bite off more than one can chew. He is pleasant and friendly and let us taste his wine out of the kindness of his heart, but the place is lacking cleanliness and does not meet the minimum standards for a bed and breakfast/hotel. He needs to put locks on the doors and guests should have keys to their rooms. Install blinds or dark curtains on the windows for privacy not sheer/see through curtains with no blinds. And make sure that all the amenities in the rooms work properly so they can be of good use to the guests (shower, drawers, toilet, shower heads etc). Breakfast (bread, fruits, coffee, etc) should be fresh and edible. Kitchen needs to be cleaned on a daily basis and don't let the dirty dishes stack up in the sink. To the owner- you really have to think about how unsanitary your practices are. This is NOT OK when you have different people coming in and out of your place. The bedrooms and the house need through cleaning daily! and every time a guest checks out meaning not only changing the bed linens and be done. Also, it is definitely NOT OK to move a guest out of their room and leave their belonging in the hallway where everyone walks by and not have the other promised room ready for them yet. We waited for a while! That should've never happened! This place is NOT ready to host people.

We Value all reviews this how we manage our business to give our guest an amazing stay looks like we missed the mark with Athena and the family. Our Kitchen is a working kitchen means we are cooking from Breakfast to Dinner and in between. The Business suite is a large suite and has an open fell design you can see out but no one can see in. Our property was fully booked at this time and we had to manage the suites based on vacation travelers so we had to move some guests sorry we had to find a way to fit everyone's needs. This does not happen all the time. I know Athena and family enjoyed our food and the place but was not happy about moving them to another suite. Come back and stay again one night on us.

There is a great view and the swimming pool is great for kids to play. The host is a great cook and really nice. Also there is a dog named Sofi and is really kind and shy. Overall, the house and service is great!!

I was confused about the bottom apartment that did not have a separate door from the rest of the house. But other than that, the facilities were great and the group that I was with was very very happy with our accommodations!

Overall experience below average.
This is our first time in the area. The location is nice, quiet scenery view. It is on the hill with few houses. The entrance to property is strange as there is only dirt road and there is no sign saying this is hotel. Since it is located at the top of hill with dirt road entrance, make sure to check in before sunset otherwise you don’t know the road the the car might fall into trench as there is no platform or safety line. We had seen one car fall into trench luckily look like nobody injured. The property is the old mansion which is poorly maintained and need more cleaning. All the desk is cover with light dust. There is no water on our first night and when water come back it is very low pressure that you can’t even shower. Funny thing is if someone flush the toilet or using sink faucet, the water is barely coming from the other room. It said 2 kings bedroom, actually only one king bedroom and the other one is queen size. It did give one extra bed. The owner is friendly and tried to accommodate at it best. That is the only good part. This is not qualify to be hotel. It is guest house. I am expecting more because of some good review and actually the other 3-4 star review are completely correct.

All reviews are important and our response is also important for future guests. There was a wedding at the Vineyard and someone did drive the car into the ditch this is the first time that has happened. Please look at pictures the main entrance to the property is a black top well maintained street. We are on a mountain and there are ditches for natural drainage. The architecture is Mediterranean some may view it as old. This property was build in 2005 it can not be classified as old. This property is a bed and breakfast a boutique resort with venues a place to enjoy the Ocean, Mountain , City and the Vineyard views. We are up on a mountain and we do pump water and we did have a water issue and it was quickly fixed by the staff. We assure you the property is well maintained and also there is expansion underway.

They prepared an amazing 4 course dinner with our food allergies in mind including a vegan chocolate cake! The business suite was large and very comfortable. The property has amazing views of the surrounding areas. The property owner is very gracious and welcoming.

Beautiful location, but we were not promised what we booked. Check-in was 12:30, but we arrived at 3:15 and were told the booking was still not ready. We booked for 3 adults and 3 children.and were shown just 2 beds and told that one of the couches and two ottomans could be used for sleeping on. Not what you expect when you book for 6 people. The pool was literally green, although the owner worked hard to try and make it usable for us. We were also unimpressed with the small dog that attempted to bite one of kids three times. This was in front of the owner and they did little to react. Eventually the dog was put in a separate room, but our children were scared for the remainder of the trip of the dog coming down the stairs into our space. On one of the nights, the dog also barked for over an hour. We went upstairs to inform the owner, but we could not find him. So we had to chase the dog into the Owner's suite in order to stop the barking. Breakfast was very unimpressive. The owner did cook some frozen sausages, but that was the only warm part of this meal in terms of food.

We are thankful of every review this is how we grow our business and make every stay an experience for our guests. Even though this is marked as Anonymous I will respond to all concerns and clarify expectations for future guests. We always ask for ETA for check in this helps us to manage an accommodate guests who want late check out if the guests do not communicate with us the ETA for check in we still call the guest to get this information. If there are delays it's never more than 30 minutes. Please communicate your ETA for check in with us. The listing clearly states 2 bedrooms with attached full baths and also a living room/ theater it has couch ottoman, and roll away bed and playpen for infants if requested. There is always linen and extra pillows. We rate this space as sleeps 8 and many families have stayed here and love it. The accommodation includes continental breakfast this means Fruit, Assorted cereal hot and cold, Quality bread assorted, Muffins and other sweet goodies perfect with coffee. We do not serve sausages for free as it is prepared food sometime we do that to show our hospitality. The listing states we can serve Breakfast to dinner but extra cost. The pool and SPA are always clean this is not a white plaster pool it is a pebble tech pool the small pebbles are almost brown so the water is not blue it is emerald. There is a small gate separates the upper level from the lower level so the only one small dog does not go down to the lower level this is explained to all guests at check in it's up to them to keep that gate closed. The little dog is not too happy if little children try to play too much and this is also explained at check in. Its a large property we keep it clean and always aim to make every stay a positive experience.

STUNNING GETAWAY
Stunning Getaway!! Location offers beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding vineyards and the City of San Marcos. We were pampered upon arrival, when the Host offered to cook us dinner and share a bottle of his private reserves from his vineyards. The dinner and the wine were excellent! This location more than exceeded my expectations. It's definitely a must to experience. I'm looking for a reason to return.

Birthday getaway at a winery
Sunshine Mountain is great, the people are friendly, the food was excellent, and the wine was amazing. Beautiful view of northern San Diego that spans all the way to the ocean. Highly recommend

We left after the first day because there was no running water. The view was amazing but the property was not maintained well. It was like an old mansion with sparse furnishings that were garish. A giant picture of Jesus hanging over the fireplace and an old broken lamp greeted us. The coffee maker, explained the hostess, was brought in from the garage so sorry the coffee isn’t hot.

We do take reviews very seriously and believe that's how we can create amazing experience for guests. We are up on the mountain with amazing views but we do have to pump water unfortunately that night the pump failed with low pressure so there was water but with very low pressure. Can not fix it at night given the location of the pump. We did facilitate the guests with water in containers just for the night. The next day it was fixed sorry it happens and that's the truth. The property is well maintained it is a large property with lot of open land this year we had so much rain and unbelievable amount of weeds looked nice and green it took us almost 3 weeks to clean up the property. The owners are major antique collectors the broken lamp: it's not broken the stand is bent and it is an Old Tiffany lamp very valuable. Anyone can look at the living area it is not cluttered. The Jesus painting is an original Velazquez extremely valuable. This is the first time we have heard anyone complain about the interior decor of the property. We have updated some of the pictures we invite everyone to enjoy it and come and stay with us and enjoy the experience.

The house was in need of a good cleaning service and repairs. But the location and the views were very nice. The staff tried to be accommodating as possible and was very friendly. Although There was someone wandering around upstairs all hours of the night.

Thank you for you review this keeps us on the right track to provide excellent experience. This is a large property and we continually maintaining and upgrading all the photos are recent and will keep adding more as we add more suites.

Obviously not ready for guests. The check-in was easy and winery across the way nice. But once lights went down, kind of a nightmare. The host works all night, and as you are sleeping downstairs, you hear him walking around all night. Also the 'helper' ends up staying downstairs with you? Everyone had a terrible nights sleep. The jacuzzi wasn't ready as we asked and barely got warm to 100. "Breakfast" was NOTHING like pictures and is just half-opened boxes of juices and cereals. Served by the 'helper' in a old nightgown...so strange. They are NOWHERE near ready to have guests. Just go visit the vineyard, but do not waste your time spending the night across the way yet. They have a LOOONNNGGG way to go.

Ryan and his wife family and an other couple in all 6 of them looks like they had a great time lot of talking and drinking wine, We even send them plates of starters (No Charge) this is a friendly atmosphere. Please check other platforms we are with 100% 5 star rating. No one stays in the privet space with 2 suites and living/Theater room. There is an other room in the lower level with the door that is occupied. Continental breakfast is included other items on the pictures are extra charge you can also order room service sorry if it was not clear. Ryan's wife needed gluten free we specifically bought gluten free items for her for breakfast. Jacuzzi at 100 is where we keep it specially when young children are in it. We are friendly attentive and do our best to make it a great experience for all of our guest sorry looks like we missed the mark making Ryan happy. Ryan and his friend complimented how clean and beautiful property and the view. We also did not charge Ryan the cleaning fees so he should be happy.
