The weather in Seward is very unpredictable and we suggest all Alaskan travelers be prepared for all possible conditions… specially rain in Seward. The right gear will get one through all the wonderful hikes, kayak touring, whale and fjord viewing cruises and much more offered in our small town. Located a few minutes outside of Seward, we offer so much more than a stay in the city can offer. Do take the time to look at our website and see all the extra amenities our guests get to enjoy .... complimentary! How can your turn down hand dipped in pure chocolate and rolled in choice of toppings ice cream bars??? Our other business has been thrilling Alaskans at special events throughout the state for 38 years with our ice cream bars! Come and stay with us for the perfect location, friendly staff, awesome breakfasts, stunning interior..... but be sure to be at the house from 8:00-8:30PM nightly for the ice cream bars! Happy guest enjoyed our accommodations. Sorry, for the UNSEASONABLE very warm weather we were experiencing for 2 weeks! This is generally NOT the case for our location! No hotels in Alaska have air conditioning, so neither do Bed and Breakfasts - its an amenity not available in ANY accommodations in Alaska. We do have fans placed in each guest room, plus.... being on the top floor will create more warmth. Both rooms on our top floor have opening windows with screens and guests are encouraged to open the windows and use a fan. The 3rd floor rooms are offered at a very good rate with all the full unique complimentary extras we offer - kayaks & canoes for use on our 2 mile long alpine lake, salmon habitat/spawning viewing, hand dipped ice cream bars each evening, full hearty breakfast each morning, hiking trails in the immediate area, decks with scenic lake side views, grassy lawn with picnic table dining options and more. We hope potential guests will view our website and see why we are the place to stay in Seward. If you are blessed with warm weather.... rejoice in the warmth ... it could be raining or a little later in the year ...snowing!

We do try VERY HARD to keep the B&B extra clean for our guests. Happy you noticed our efforts. Some of that requires the guests to remove their outside footwear inside the B&B. Many of Alaskan roads, walkways and our driveway too is all gravel/dirt making shoe removal a must. Our common area is requested to be quiet by 10 pm and guests can enjoy themselves in their rooms or large suites until ???? We have guests in a room directly under the common area and often the FUN activities for tourists in Seward have EARLY rising times! Happy we thrilled half of your traveling group! Sweet and kind review, thanks! We do a rotating breakfast entree each morning with a broad variety - check out website under menus to see what we are serving. Not mentioned on the website is our Biscuits and Gravy - a BIG hit this summer. Along with photos of our hand dipped nightly ice cream bar treats are also on the website. We keep you fueled for your Alaskan Adventures.

We really love it when guests take out the boats to experience the beauty of the lake. Bear Lake is a salmon habitat lake and offers lots of interesting boating aspects - eagles, salmon spawning, duck families, the occasional loon siting, bears and this summer's swimming mother moose with calf! This reviewer made my job of responding easy! Your comments are spot on! We are sorry for the situation on the Bear Lake Deck Suite which does have two sofa beds to accommodate a larger group. The suite does have a lovely and comfy queen bed, plus all the beds have memory foam toppers to do the best to make sofa beds a better experience. The price for the added guests in the room are a HUGE benefit to the pocketbook than renting 3 rooms. We are looking at limiting this suite to only families with youth - not adult children and restricting it to 4 guests inside of the 5. We appreciate your comments and they have been the only negative ones on the bed options in that suite for the entire summer - our first year to offer that suite. We did purchase the best quality available, but sounds like for larger adults its a no go! Thank you for alerting us! See this suite for your family on our website with same name and look at all the extras provided with the suite - full kitchen, private deck, dining, 2 large cable TV's and much more! It's a two story separate area connected to the main house to give additional privacy for family time.

Families with children find two of our room offerings perfect for a family stay. Both of the larger suites give direct availability to the lakeside of the house onto our lawn. The 2 story suite is a new offering for 2018 and has been a HUGE success with our guests. The suite offers a kitchen and separate sleeping areas making it easy to share for families. See our discounts we can offer on our website of same name for the tours into the Kenai Fjords Glaciers. Seward is placed in an area of spectacular beauty with glaciers peeking out between many of the mountain valleys. Looks like you MUST have booked through Expedia - as your review is coming through their platform. Here's some background on our plumbing and All guests who book with us are aware they are sharing a bath when booking the 3rd floor rooms - whether its a direct booking or online agency booking. I know that Expedia sells the two rooms on the 3rd floor with the shared bath noted on the listing. Our home was built as a family home where we have made many serious remodeling efforts to extend our plumbing for the convenience of added bathrooms for guests. All have been remodeled in recent years and are fully detail cleaned daily. The two rooms (2 suites have private baths) do share a bath - there is no way to add another bath on our 3rd floor. The savings of the shared bathroom for 3rd floor guests is substantial and those guests still receive all the other added amenities we offer exclusively at Bear Lake Lodgings B&B. Please see our website of same name for full listing of our offerings and discounts. All guests who book with us, again, are aware they are sharing a bath when booking the 3rd floor rooms - whether its a direct booking or online agency booking like Expedia.
