There was never anyone on duty in reception, my room was not cleaned whilst I was out, breakfast was non existent, there were no staff around, I was checked in by a boy who looked about 14 and didn't seem to know what he was doing, I certainly won't be staying there again.

Would not recommend. Travelled 3 hours for 2 nights leaving after the 1st night. Room basic felt like a hostel no hotel staff not welcoming shower terrible no blinds or netting just curtains so had to be drawn as other building looking in bed creaky supported by make shift wooden legs. If you’re happy for roof over head for a night this is a place for you. Complained and would not offer a refund or anything!

The reception is not manned adequately. We run out of toilet paper and when I went to reception to ask there was no one there. The room is not cleaned daily

Arrived at the property at 10.30pm no receptionist to greet us and tell us where our room was. The bedroom key was in a lock box outside the property and the numbers had been rubbed of the lock box so struggled to see the numbers. Hallways looked like they had not been cleaned or hoovered in months, hallways also smelt of smoke. Had to go on a hunt to find the room, there was no signs to say which way the rooms was. Stairs doors not labelled. Eventually found the room after 10 Minutes of looking. When inside the room found that there was next to no toilet roll, no sugar, 2 pots of milk. Bathroom shower tray was grotty and there was next to no water coming out of the shower head, bed was uncomfortable, pillows terrible, bedroom window does not close, black hairs on the bedding, black marks on the bedding. There was people shouting and screaming all night from when we got there and then someone above us was drilling and banging until 1am. There is a sign saying keep the noise down but that was definitely not the case. There was nobody there this morning to speak to about putting in a complaint. We did not feel safe in the room at all.

One night only
We were only there for one night, when we arrived there was nobody on reception and we waited quite a while before anyone came , our room was two flights of stairs although they did offer to carry our bags. When we got to the room it was quite cool as windows were open and I couldn’t close it properly, tv had no signal. There was no loo roll on the bathroom,the light on the ceiling didn’t work. The shower head was quite blocked so the water was very slow and only coming out half the holes in the head, but because we were only staying for one night I didn’t complain, if I was staying longer I would expect all of the above to be sorted asap.

It was quite good. Bedroom fine. Bathroom needed repair work and redecorating. Baloney too. Iverall price is very good value for money Slept well. Reception brilliant. No issues there. Staff caring. Very accomodating for needs.

The (not so) Grand at Skegness
There is no reception and a young man taking a deposit of £50 for breakages. Its supposidly refunded on leaving but 5 days later not received. The building is simply a shell. The rooms are adequate for one night but not partic comfy or inviting. The rooms were fairly clean but the bathroom needed a deep clean as there was grime around the seals which gave a dirty look. Windows didnt open temperature was stifling. Hall and stair carpets were disgusting. No dining room which had been stacked up and closed. Inadequate lighting outside and quite a threatening feeling on entering the empty building. It felt as though it was being prepped for alternative use.

Never again.
From the moment we had to wait for staff to turn up to check us in (20 mins) later and after i had to make a phone call , we got our keys. Well NoTowels No Quilt for bed, No milk, Dirty cups, the Bin was still full of Rubbish,absolutely disgusting. Went down to Reception to find no one about.I sent a message to let someone know, reply was sorry someone will be with you soon.Everything was put right. We decided to go out but when we came back we found the fiŕe alarm was going off and people stood outside.I went inside the hotel to look for a member of staff but to my amazement no one was there and this is when all of the guest found out that nobody stayed onsite overnite at all, WHAT !!! We as paying guests then had to get intouch with who we thought was owner, only to be told someone would be with us in 30mins. We then had to ring 999 for Emergency service and told them about the alarm and that no management were on site to check the building or turn the alarm off. £50 Damages was charged upon arrival not mentioned when booking, i think they should be giving all the guests a £50 compensation back for the stress caused and a full refund for all the inconvenience caused and unsatisfactory state of property. Beautiful views from balcony though. Don't stay at THE GRAND HOTEL SKEGNESS.

When we arrived there the receptionist couldnt find our keys. Then asked for a £50 deposit but it never said anything on expedia about this . Also said breakfast included in the price but they dont do breakfast. The pillows was flat and hard also. But the room was lovely . Nice balcony to sit out on and take in the sea view.

When we got to the hotel we had to pay an extra £50 deposit which we were not made aware of when we booked we begrudgingly paid as had bo choice and we atill havnt recieved this deposit back despite trying to chase it up they dont answer the phones when you try to ring the floors in the rooms are wooden so you hear every bang from rooms next to you our room had a very small showerthat trickled and had a xeiling fan that wobbled and was dangerous if you tried to use it thete was dirty clothes left in one of the drawers from previous guests

Cleanliness? Really?
Spectacularly disappointing "hotel" from start to finish. Parking would have been disastrous if it had been busy (and the fact that it wasn't should have been a warning) with just 3 spaces. No bar, no breakfast, no lift (so no use to anyone with mobility issues). Room was adequately clean but public areas were not. Very run down and in desperate need of redecorating and upgrading to 21st century standards. Vastly overpriced small room. I was concerned about security after seeing key boxes, each with a room number, attached to a wall in an alley beside the building; never seen that before, except outside a home for pensioners and can only speculate as to their purpose. This place really doesn't warrant even 3 stars and my advice to anyone considering a stay there is to seek an alternate which would almot certainly be cheaper and far far more welcoming. There really is more to consider in a room for a night than "is it clean ?" I appreciate you have to take a shilling for acting on the owners' behalf, but you are not doing your business any favours in promoting this squalid hostel.

I think if your charging a damage deposit you should supply a list of damage already there, as my wife discovered a crack on the inside of the bathroom sink when we arrived & reported it to reception to be told if they dont reteurn the deposit email them & tell them the damage was already there & had been reported to the receptionist, I think the receptionist should be responsible for reporting this not us although we did take a photo to show her. Also the website photos are clearly out of date as the hotel is a completely different colour on the outside & our room only had one chair & one bedside lamp despite the website showing 2 of each We travel to Skegness a few times a year & this is the 1st time a hotel we've stayed in has ever asked for a damage deposit.

It was okay for a one night stay. 100% not toddler friendly. It mentioned a £50 deposit on booking, but when we checked in apparently this was a £150 deposit we had to pay. The room really was not clean, and I wouldn’t advice taking small children
