Did not like anything about our stay! Room was very small and was not very clean. There were holes and stains on the curtains. There were rips in the lamp shades and they had stains all over them! The bathroom was very small and had black hair on the floor. Would not take a shower there! And to top it off, the price was more than doubled because of graduations in Illinois. We paid close to $600. Also, there was no continental breakfast! Not that we would have eaten it, due to conditions!

Since there was a college graduation that weekend, the prices were quadrupled. The shower door and around it needed a good scrubbing. The mattresses are old and tired.

I stayed at this property for 4 hours and bought the protection insurance and still couldn’t get my money back. They are frauds at Expedia and Howard Johnson.

An absolutely horrible hotel - do not stay here!! Advertised as renovated - it's a complete sham. MOLD MOLD MOLD. with poor attempt to cover it up with Bleach. Everything from pillows to towels, probably haven't been replaced in 5 years. Should be shut down.

The carpets were filthy and in the rooms the lampshades were torn. I had to get my shower head changed because it was full of black mold. The hotel smelled like chemicals when you first walked in. My room smelled like something horrid, mildew mixed with smoke. I paid $338 a night for something that was not even worth it. I wish i hadn’t booked here. I understand it was a special weekend and they can up charge us but come on, the hotel was in horrible condition. I will never book a room at Howard Johnson’s again. I have traveled a ton and have stayed at too many hotels to count but this one takes the cake for worst ever. I do not recommend.

Ice machine was broken, had to go to front desk for ice. Reserved room for two, but only provided small towels for one. Had to request more daily. Tv remote didn’t work. Soiled men’s underwear in stairwell for days. Uncomfortable beds with cigarette burn in bedspread. Overpriced at over $500 for two nights. Front desk was polite, but overall disappointed.

Very gross hallways. Dirty and smelled like cat pee. Only stayed one night and had originally booked two. Was promised by Thomas at the desk the general manager would refund. Took several times calling and still waiting for the refund. Do not stay here. When I checked in, very drunk man in lobby seating holding a small bottle of liquor not dealt with by desk staff.

The EconoLodge in Champaign Urbana was an untenable, stressful experience. The walls are extremely thin, I was given a room on the first floor with an adjoining room which was occupied by someone who screamed at someone on the phone for hours on end, keeping me up until 3 in the morning. I complained to the desk multiple times and they assured me they would ask her to quiet down, but she didn’t. The room was dirty, the sheets were stained, and a single roll of toilet paper was provided in lieu of tissues. The desk staff were kind enough to refund me for my remaining nights, but I would not recommend booking this hotel.

Clean but no frills
I didn’t expect much from this hotel and that’s exactly what we got. The desk attendant at check in and first thing this morning acted like it was an inconvenience to assist me. He had said he would make new coffee but never did! Plus there were no cups. The food vending machine was basically empty. The gentleman that came in for the day shift was much more pleasant and helpful. The lobby and hallways had a weird odor. Our room did not. It was clean and the bed comfortable . So - if you want just a clean bed to sleep in, book a stay. If you want anything more, find somewhere else.

Avoid at all costs
Roaches in the room. I was told I would be refunded but when contacted, they refused. Hotels.com provided $100 to offset cost but this was unquestionably one of the dirtiest, poorly maintained, and degraded places I ever have stayed. Putrid.

There was nothing redeeming about this hotel. The first room i was given was not made up, the second one the door was open when i got there. the hallways smelled awful and were visibly very dirty. The room was newer but still smelled. The room was not made up the second day and i had to go down to the front desk to get towels and they were very rude about it.
