Me gusto su ubicación al frente del Malecón, cerca de restaurantes, de un convenience store, a un paso de la Playa La Esperanza y a 15 minutos caminando de la Playa Sun Bay.

El Lugar es un Motel glorificado. El check in fue un horror, separar una habitacion para tres personas y al llegar cobrar por la tercera persona cuando el anuncio claramente decia 3 personas. El cuarto lleno de hormigas, el continental breakfast era una burla. El Gerente del lugar era una persona arrogante, malcriada y sin educacion que trataba a uno con desprecio. Hubo una empleada en la recepción que realmente trato de ayudar pero ese genrente la trato como si ella no valiera nada, no se como aguanta un trato así. Definitivamente no volvemos, cualquier lugar hubiera sido mejor que este.

We are sorry that you were unhappy with your stay. Even though the room you booked can sleep up to three persons, you reservation for only for two persons, and as our rates are occupancy based, yes, we charged for the third person. We are not a hotel, but a guesthouse, there is a difference. As for the breakfast, we do state that we offer a complimentary Continental Breakfast, and that is what it is, nothing fancy, just something to get you started in morning.

Agradable (pero costosa) estadía
La experiencia en general del guesthouse fue amenas. La descripción de la habitación en la reserva no coincidió con la obtenida en el check-in, por lo cual tuvimos que solicitar reubicación. En lo personal, opino que las tarifas en La Esperanza, Vieques son excesivas considerando que es capital que no parece invertirse en la isla. Por lo demás, el servicio y disposición de las empleadas locales fue excelente y el desayuno para ser "continental" fue muy completo.

Chip, could you please provide your reservation details, as we have no record of you having a reservation with us. And our guesthouse is open every day, if you had a reservation, we would have contacted you about your arrival time and would have made arrangements for your check-in. But as we cannot find a reservation for you, under the name of Chip, in the last few months booked through any of the Expedia partners, we do not understand your review.

The best thing is the location, how centralized it is of the places that one likes to visit such as the beach, kayaking. What I didn't like very much was that late at night the music from nearby places could be heard. I went to rest, but the one who is going to party is the perfect place.

No TV?!?! No Uber, often no cell service
It was a surprise with no TV in the room, no window, and 3 days a week with no restaurant. But we made do. Definitely minimal staffing for check in and out. I recommend a higher priced room in this establishment for a better view. Also, beware you are in an isolated place. Limited or no cell signal. No UBER, must make taxi reservations well in advance. When there's no staff, there's NO ONE to help. That said, the island is great, very beautiful. Good snorkeling. Also be aware, on weekend nights, locals drive around with gigantic speakers blasting music. Forget a peaceful evening.

Barbara, thank you for your review, but please note as far as UBER goes, we have no control over that, nor cell phone signals, however, AT&T, Sprint, Boost Mobil all work well here. As for TV's, we figure you are here to relax, unwind and enjoy what the island has to offer.

The property was pretty much what I was expecting based on the reviews. We had a room with no a/c which I don't remember being specified but there was very good cross ventilation from the windows and it wasn't an issue. Most of the properties in this little island town are older and this one was no exception. The gentleman who checked us in was very kind and helpful. A big plus was the ability to stash your luggage before or after check in though we didn't need to use the service. I booked the place because it was the meeting location for a kayak tour we were signed up for and they had a room available. If I were to return to Esperenza, there is an different property I would use but Trade Winds is clean, well located and the breakfast lady was a delight. There is no reason to avoid it, just know that there is a wide variety of types of rooms so what you see pictured may have little to do with what you get.

As for the A/C, do to the way expedia.com is set up, there is no way to specifically mention it, but it is not listed in the amenities section, we cannot change that, that is how expedia is set up.

The staff was great here and the location very good but the room was disappointing for the $ charged. We had limited hot water and mismatched knobs in the shower. Not sure why but the room was so damp that all of our things were almost wet when we packed up. We did have a great dinner there with incredible fresh lobster, good salad and potatoes.

Good location. They checked us in early. I forgot to add my boyfriend to the room reservation so they charged us extra even though we weren’t going to be there for the breakfast. The room had 1 power outlet. There was no phone signal in the room and the Wifi didn’t work. The bathroom sink handle came off so we had to wash our hands with the shower. The shower was missing tiles and needed cleaning. The shower head was a jet stream, hardly warm and if you’re sun burnt, it will hurt. A/C worked well. We left as soon as we woke up.

Trade Winds is a great place to stay when visiting Vieques, it is located just at the end of the main seafront area in Esperanza. The staff is very friendly and helpful, serving breakfast with a smile every day, storing our bags for us on our last day so we could explore more before our taxi came, etc. Then when our flight was canceled due to bad weather they went above and beyond to find us somewhere to stay for the extra night. Our room was comfortable, had a good private bathroom and access to a semi-private deck area. The main deck facing the sea is where breakfast is served, it is a great place to sit and finish your morning coffee reading a book before heading to the beach. Overall we had a wonderful stay and would recommend it to anyone visiting Vieques.

Great location on the Esperanza side. Walking distance to 3 restaurants and bars. The closer beach to walk to is far. Get a golf cart or a car. If you don’t there isn’t much to do. We rented a golf car off a guy by the hotel. Highly recommend stopping by there. He has mopeds/golf carts, kayak, snorkel. The guy at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. Remember it’s an island so no hotels or B and B will be 4 stars. You can’t beat the location.

Convenient location in Esperanza. Continental breakfast included as the restaurant is not yet open, 12.4.19, but they plan to open in the next 2 weeks. Little gift shop in the check in area. No screen on the patio door, Room 3, so not entirely bug proof. In room AC & ceiling fan are definite perks.

Our main purpose for this trip was for Bioluminescent Kayaking in Mosquito Bay. This hotel was an easy walk to restaurants, shops, beach, and the tour pick up site. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony with a drink and just relaxing. The staff was helpful and friendly.

It was VERY clean but the rooms need a little bit of TLC. There was a broken window and pillows are terrible. Other than that, it was ok. It's located in a great spot and has an awesome view of the ocean. Close to everything.

Simple things make a difference!
Our experience was not so good. People were friendly and everything but there were other things. The washroom door had a lock, but from outside! What’s the use? The shower had no force and took 10 mins to heat up. Charging socket was in another corner of the room and nothing near your bed. The guesthouse has a good location as such and I was glad that I was not staying there for long.

Loved Trade Winds
Trade Winds is in a perfect location. It is a no frills hotel but very clean and has everything that you need. The bed was very comfortable. You really can't beat the price. The continental breakfast with their stunning ocean view was a great way to start the day! I would definitely stay again and hope to soon. The employees in the office were very friendly and welcoming. I also really enjoyed speaking to the young woman at the Sunday brunch (I wish i remembered her name- she had only been there about a month and moved from Florida). She provided excellent customer service and was so sweet. I would definitely recommend trade Winds to anyone. My boyfriend and I stayed in room 10 and loved it. My only advice if staying at this hotel would be to bring an extension cord or extra outlet plug because our room only had 1, being used by the fridge so we would not have both been able to charge our phones at the same time if we hadn't brought one.

I love the location of this guesthouse! It was so close to the beach and the best bars and restaurants in the area. I also really loved our shared balcony outside of our room. It was so peaceful to sit out there and read and enjoy the view! It is shared with two other rooms, but I never saw any other guests, so it felt private! The owner, the kitchen, and the cleaning staff were very present and easy to get in touch with. They were so friendly and kind and quick to give great recommendations and tips on the island! The rooms were spacious and had great working air conditioner and a mini fridge. We will be back for sure! I highly recommend Trade Winds.
