Extended stay visiting family in Hyde Park
Strengths include: communication, location, true 2-bedroom, separate work space, comfortable beds. Areas of improvement: sparsely furnished (sofa only, no other furniture in living spaces), dank odor despite perpetual de-humidifier in dining room which is noisy and always running, no mirrors other than the small one above bathroom sink, coffee maker that does not turn off on its own, and very basic quality and quantity of kitchen utensils,etc - and small tv. The photos do not reflect peeling paint on ceiling and few other places, within the unit. Also noticed large hole in back screen door. With a few minor improvements, this unit could be more welcoming and comfortable.

Thank you for your review and the concerns you brought up. This previously was my family's home, so while I do disagree that there is any odor, we have a dehumidifier in the home to make sure the place stays a comfortable humidity, which would prevent any odors or excess humidity. I also worked hard to promptly respond to your concerns during your stay, and said it was perfectly fine to turn off the dehumidifier as needed if it was any problem for you. We prefer a minimalist look, but the pictures are up to date and accurate so anyone can see the furniture before booking. There is a full length mirror in the hall closet door directly outside of the bathroom, however. Thank you for mentioning issues with paint and the screen, I will look into that and have it fixed. I'm sorry you disliked the home, but I hope that for future guests, the other reviews show that not everyone felt the same way. I do thank you for your feedback!

Lovely Austin house!
Stayed in Austin for a family wedding with our two young children. The house was really clean and comfortable, and every one had plenty of room. Location was perfect!! We walked around the neighborhood quite a bit, and there’s great bakeries and restaurants right up the street. Property manager responded to any questions we had quickly.

Great spot, close to everything
This is a really convenient house in the middle of Hyde park. Four of us stayed here and were able to get to Deep Eddy, Barton Springs, Downtown, North Austin quickly and mostly avoiding traffic on the main roads of I35 and Mopac. Many great restaurants and Central Market are all within walking ( or scootering ) distance. Will definitely stay here again.

Cute clean bungalow conveniently located.
Comfortable stay in a newly appointed home. Adequate kitchen amenities (kitchen towels would be nice), great gas stove and large fridge. TV doesn’t have Roku or Apple TV type access which would be great. Street is noisy so we switched to other bedroom. Parking is great and easy access to various neighborhoods via car, bus or walking. Claw-foot tub/shower is not for those with balance or agility issues (ok for us).

A great place to stay!
The house is comfortable, has all the basics, very clean as well as being in a great location. Accessible to many local places on foot, or an easy drive. If you like to walk or run, very easy to do so in that location. A golf course nearby which also has a path around it. We will definitely stay there again on our next visit to Austin.

Great place but could use more basic supplies
This is a great place in Hyde Park within walking distance of some of our favorite places like Quack's bakery and Mother's restaurant. It does lack a few basics, however. There were no dish towels, facial tissues, or good sized coffee mugs.

Cute, clean house in a great location.
The house is clean and located within walking distance to good restaurants. If you plan on cooking, bring your own dish towels, spices, foil, storage containers, etc. Hyde Park is a great neighborhood with cute houses, good restaurants and safe for walking at night. It would be nice if there were chairs on the front porch and I suggest a door mat at the front door for wiping off shoes. Traffic noise can be loud in the front bedroom but it’s not bad. Pete responds to messages quickly.

Overall the holiday accommodation was good
Overall the holiday accommodation was good. However there are a couple of things that need attention. First, the hot water, the first person to bathe in the morning had a hot water with their shower. Subsequently the water remained tepid for each person that followed. I think it would be useful if the bathroom door had a lock.

A quiet oasis in Hyde Park
What a gem of a property in a wonderful location. We are repeat renters and will be back. It is so nice to be able to walk in the neighborhood to enjoy a meal or pick up groceries. From start to finish Pete is very responsive and his properties are well furnished and maintained.

A charming, comfortable, and very clean house in the perfectly situated Hyde Park neighborhood.
The house is a great place to stay in central Austin. Within easy walking distance of several good restaurants, bakery, and small grocer. Bus line to downtown goes right by front door. The house is minimally furnished but comfortable, with lovely hardwood floors, big windows, 2 large bedrooms, smaller 3rd bedroom, separate dining room, and updated kitchen. Be aware, though, that the shower is in an old-fashioned free-standing bathtub; stepping over the high sides and negotiating the narrow space inside while showering may be difficult for some people. The owner is very helpful and friendly before, during, and after your stay.

Great Place in Hyde Park
The house is located in a great spot, just three blocks from the little commercial area which includes Quack's (Coffee and pastries), Fresh Plus (small grocery store) and several restaurants. We have rented many houses in Hyde Park over the years and this is one of the best. Very clean, nice kitchen and well set up bedrooms. Only problem we ran into was the refridgerator...it kept freezing our bottled water & milk.

We had a fabulous stay. Pete was a great host and made sure everything was clearly and timeously communicated which is very helpful when coming in from out of town. We had everything we needed and the location worked out well for us for the Formula 1 Weekend. Plus the water was lovely and hot which allowed everyone to have a great shower - which in my group was well appreciated! All in all a great stay and we would happily return !!! Many thanks

Trendy, updated, incredibly clean, and a great location!
We are first time users of Home Away and we've been very impressed with our stay at this house. We appreciated the modern decor in this remodeled bungalow and the Hyde Park location is great for visitors to the city. Conveniently located near most attractions while still being quiet (It's located a couple of minutes north of UT campus on the quiet north side of campus). It's also very clean and all of the appliances have been updated. Great for week long stays which is what we did.

Wonderful 40's home!
Beautiful natural light, amazing beds, everything you want driving distance, wonderfully located near some of the coolest coffee shops, juice bars, and restaurants. Hyde park means near all the fun! 15 mins from the capital. This place was so relaxing, and just beautiful. I would buy this place if I could!!! The beautiful hardwood floors and white building!! So will come back!!!

Very well run, close to great little restaurants, small grocery store, with easy access to the city. Will go here again -- had four adults and used the "office" area for 1 year old. Make sure you bring your own dishtowels, spices and supplies (dish soap, laundry det, Dishwasher soap, etc) could use a few more non stick pans

Great house!
My friends and I had a great weekend in Austin! The house is located about 15 minutes from downtown so it was a quick drive to get to where we needed to be. The house had nice decor, the beds were comfortable, and the rooms had 2 little closet spaces that were perfect to put our clothes in for the weekend. The house is located on a pretty quiet street so it was nice that we didn't have to worry about having to back out of the driveway with a lot of traffic. It would have been nice if some simple spices and extra pans were available for cooking. Overall, it was a perfect house to stay in for the weekend!

Convenient Hyde Park location
We were delighted with the Hyde Park house in the neighborhood where we once lived. The three of us had plenty of space, a nice porch, a gas stove, easy walking distance to a grocery store, coffee, and several excellent restaurants. This house was a lovely and peaceful home base from which to explore Austin. Minor points that could mean improvement: a radio or stereo (guess I'm old-fashioned that way) and a shower caddy so that you don't have to keep opening the shower curtain to reach for the soap.

Perfect Bungalow in Wonderful Hyde Park Neighborhood
This bungalow in the Hyde Park area of Austin provided a great place to help my daughter transition to a move to Austin. The 2 bedroom/1 bath bungalow was just the perfect size for us and included a small office area just off the kitchen so that I could work remotely. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything needed, since we cooked in a little. In general, the entire space of the home was very simple and offered a great floor plan. The bathroom was really cute with a claw-foot tub, which we didn't mind, the only thing was not having a place to put soap or shampoo, which could be remedied with a shower caddy of some type. The location was also wonderful, since it's within a short walk to a great bakery/coffee shop and grocery store, and right outside the door is the bus stop to take downtown. I didn't rent a car since we had my daughter's car, but if it was being used, I took the bus and it was very convenient and inexpensive, $1.75 for a one-way trip downtown. You can also take Fasten, the Austin version of Uber if needed. Uber and Lyft are not offered in the Austin area. I enjoy running, and the location was excellent for some neighborhood running through some shaded streets. There's also the Shoal Creek Greenway, about 2 miles from the house. All-in-all, it was a great trip to Austin made better by a wonderful place to stay.
