Upon arrival I always inspect each room for signs of bed bugs. I heat treat bed bugs for my full time job I’m licensed with the state of Idaho. I found early signs of bed bugs (spotting bed bug poop) in all 3 upstairs rooms. I contacted the host who came over to see what I was seeing I gave him a very honest up assessment letting him know he had bed bugs. He asked if I would be staying I let him know I wasn’t comfortable staying. I know how expensive and how time consuming it is to prep for a treatment if we took them home. I asked about getting a refund he stated that if I went through VRBO it would get taken care of. After contacting VRBO the host changed his mind said he didn’t think there was enough evidence of bed bugs. I let him know I understand not trusting my opinion and that I would have a local pest control service come do the inspection and have a report sent to him. He then checked us out of the property the next day so I couldn’t have a local company come do the inspection. We were scheduled to stay July 13th-17th and then we were checked out the 14th without our consent. We have been trying to work with VRBO and it’s been a nightmare because this host is actually a 3rd party billing so VRBO basically said that we have to get the host to do the refund. The host will no longer even respond to us or VRBO. VRBO recommended us to file a dispute with our Credit card company. Overall this is not a host I would ever consider for another stay.
