During your stay, we did experience occasional water rationing, which is managed with our large water holding tanks designed to minimize any inconvenience. Additionally, our water pump has an automatic shutoff system that activates when the water level drops below a safe threshold, ensuring the integrity of our water system. We regret to hear that you encountered issues with the water supply and apologize for any inconvenience. We did not receive any messages regarding this issue during your stay; otherwise, we would have addressed it immediately to ensure your comfort. Thank you Brett, We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We have addressed your concerns regarding insects. Insect populations spike at the beginning of the rainy season. As you know, we are surrounded by Las Baulas Marine Park. The vast mangrove forests of the estuary are home to hundreds of species of wildlife, including a variety of ants. Ants play a vital role in the local ecology since they serve as food for birds, reptiles and some mammals. Although the ant colonies build their anthills in the sandy grounds in the protected mangrove forests away from the bungalows, they roam across a wide territory in search of food. They climb the stilts of the bungalows to feast on open food containers and fruit. Although a nuisance, this variety of ants is harmless. Since the anthills are located in the protected area, we use mild natural insecticides around the bungalows to deter them. In light of your experience, we will increase the frequency of the applications of the repellent to make sure the ants stay away. With regards to bed bugs (Cimex lectularius), our pest control specialist did not identify any specimens in the property. He suggests that you might have been bitten by a small flying insect colloquially called “noseeums”. Noseeums (Ceratopogonidae) or biting midges are smaller than mosquitoes, barely visible to the naked eye. They bite at dawn and a few hours after dusk. Unlike mosquitoes, noseeums do not produce the notorious buzzing sound when they fly. Their bites itch like mosquito bites and leave red marks as well. Bed bugs, on the other hand, are imperceptible when they attack since they posses a numbing agent that allows them to bite their host without being noticed. Thank you for your report. Best wishes!
