La primer habitación que me dieron estaba horrible, el piso roto, hongo en el baño, el baño roto,etc. Luego ya ,me dieron una habitación decente aunque el hotel está viejo y descuidado

El lobby del Hotel era lo único limpo, la habitación sucia y la ropa de cama con manchas por todas partes y para colmo te piden la tarjeta y te cobran 179 dolares de más que le reclamé y me decían que no sabían porque aparecia ese cobro, aún estoy en disputa con el banco, no lo recomiendo, no se dejen engañar por las fotos

Hotel viejo, sin cuidados.
La verdad es que ha sido un poco decepcionante. Cogimos este hotel de 4* para estar cómodas y en una zona relativamente céntrica. Pero desde luego que no es para nada lo que esperamos. La zona está bien, algunas personas del hotel eran amables e intentaban ayudar, pero otras ni siquiera se esforzaban, no hablaban inglés y era difícil comunicarse con ellos. El aire acondicionado de nuestra habitación goteaba bastante, hasta el punto de poner tazas y platos para que no se mojara tanto la moqueta, que ya estaba bastante mojada, algo bastante desagradable a la hora de andar. El baño estaba renovado, pero sin embargo se salía el agua por el filo del cristal, lo que hacía que el suelo siempre estuviera mojado. A la hora de pedir el desayuno, lo traían cuando querían. Hubo un día que teníamos un tour a las 8:30 y pedimos el desayuno a las 8:00. Nos lo trajeron a las 8:25 después de quejarme 2 veces por teléfono y haber bajado a recepción a reclamar mi desayuno. Al día siguiente pedimos el desayuno a las 9:00 para dormir un poco más y nos despertaron a las 8:00 para traer el desayuno. El hotel tiene piscina en la azotea, la piscina no parecía sucia, pero todo alrededor era un verdadero desastre, lo que no invita a sentarse y disfrutar de un buen baño. Desde luego que si tuviera que volver a El Cairo, jamás volvería a este hotel. Estoy muy desencantada con la experiencia.

The kettle in the room was broken. I asked for a replacement and never got one. They do not leave a sheet with the extension numbers you might need. I got a hold of room service and asked for a copy of the menu, never got it. It was almost like they were hoping I’d forget I asked for things. Room service apparently also stops at 4 PM. The receptionists were unusually and irrationally hostile; they also kept repeatedly asking my friend and I what rooms we were in every time they would see us, like they were suspicious or something (we did not do anything suspicious). The bathroom had no hair dryer and no toothpaste or toothbrush like most hotels would have. The bathtub design was also really physically uncomfortable and I would have to lean back to even fit my body under the shower. The water flow was very weak and sporadic, but warm so that was something. It’s a beautiful historic hotel, the aesthetics are gorgeous and location is great. Unfortunately I felt like the service quality ruined that experience.

A decent hotel with attentive housekeeping, but some of the amenities listed (restaurant/bar, exercise room) weren’t available. But there are several restaurants and a Starbucks a short walk away.

Traditional styling, located in good position on zamalek island. Room sizes were impressive. Hotel rooms had cockroaches in and we found dead ones under the beds. Hotel staff didn’t speak good English so was difficult to communicate at times.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful and the staff were very friendly and helpful. However, the WiFi didn't work in the room. Very quiet for a Cairo hotel!

Unser erstes Zimmer mit "Stadtblick" stank nach Abfluss, Feuchtigkeit und Muff. Die Teppiche waren Jahrzehntelang nicht gereinigt. An den Wänden Fliegen, Mücken und Käfer. Unter dem Bett und unter der Matratze nachzuschauen, haben wir uns nicht getraut. Und der Oberhammer: Der Toilettensitz unseres angeblich frisch zubereiteten Zimmers war vollgepisst! Überall frischer und angetrockneter Urin. Als wir den "Manager" darauf ansprachen (nicht der, der an der Rezeption sitzt), wurde der laut und bezichtigte uns der Lüge: Wie wir denn so einen Unsinn erzählen könnten! Er prüfe vorher immer jedes Zimmer! Das sei kein Urin! Alle Zimmer seien neu und schön! Ein cholerisches A****** als Manager einzusetzen, ist ne klare Fehlinvestition. Der sollte lieber Müllmann werden, wenn er sich nicht mit westlichen Gästen, die sich über Dreck in seinen Zimmern beschweren, rumärgern will. Habe mich dann an den ägyptischen Tourismusminister AHMED ISSA persönlich gewendet, um ihm von den Missständen im Om Kolthoum-Hotel aus erster Hand zu berichten. Wir haben dann notgedrungen ein Upgrade bezahlt (sie haben uns den Preis in EGP genannt, die Summe dann allerdings in USD abgebucht!), weil wir keine Lust hatten, uns mit dem Idioten noch weiter zu streiten. Das Zimmer war OK, Blick auf den Nil, sauberes Bad mit netter Dusche, verhältnismäßig sauber, Matratze durchgelegen. Doch wir kommen hier nie wieder zurück. Ab sofort nur noch Hilton oder Ritz.

Hotel lobby is ok. Room is dusty, curtains not kept, water leaks from bath tub / shower, sink wasn’t cleaned and there is only one outlet in the room and wi-fi is spotty.

Local hotel in great area in Cairo
The overall experience was good. The hotel room is gigantic, more like an entire apartment. The building is a bit old and needs some love though. The staff is friendly and helpful. The internet is a problem as it is not strong enough to open basic apps, such as bank apps and YouTube. However, the manager (I believe his name is Mr Amed) did his best to accommodate the situation and offered a router the solve the issue. Mr Amed, the porters and night receptionist were the stars as they always had a smile to greet you at all times. The hotels feels very local, rather than touristic but it offers great experience overall in a good location and with great views to the Nile. I can happily recommend it.

The staff, from front desk to housekeeping, doorman and bellhops are friendly and professional. They definitely made me feel welcomed and appreciated, and I appreciated them too. Outstanding on that matter. My unit was spacious — I was aware of the condition/age of the hotel prior to booking so to be honest my expectations were met for what it was. As a female solo traveller, I felt safe, which was very important, the bed was cozy, I had a great view of the Nile with two balconies. I took advantage of the breakfast add-on, which is next door in the cafe—highly recommend. Also I will add check in is 3pm but my flight landed at 7am and they were happy to let me check in once I cleared the airport. Lighting in the bedroom needs to be improved. Wifi in the bedroom isn’t consistent. The bathroom wasn’t cleaned thoroughly. I had two beds and the first one I was ready to crawl into had someone else’s hair in the bedding and pillowcase.

Set expectations for value, not polish
Though it’s had glory days, this old ship needs work. Rooms on the upper floors are ok and reasonable value, but the second floor carpets really need attention. The staff is friendly and helpful, but limited by the property’s age and patina. WiFi was not functioning and generally everything needs a refresh. Beds and sheets were clean and comfortable, and balcony rooms are worth the extra. The location is an ideal launching point for this city of millions. But 4 stars? Maybe two, with extra credit, again, for the helpful staff. As a global traveler who's experienced all levels, I’ve paid more for less. Keep your expectations in check for the value.

Unclean, dusty rooms
This hotel is 2 stars, 2.5 at best. The hotel in general is not clean, very dusty. I saw three different rooms, hoping I could make this hotel work but all were similar. The sheets were stained. I stayed 24 hours then booked another hotel even though I could not get a refund. If you’re staying in Cairo for a short time and on a budget, this hotel may suffice.

It’s a lovely old place, but it’s old, tired and overpriced. It’s not 4 star anymore. There isn’t wifi on the top floors, the bathroom in my room was grungy, water wasn’t provided, there wasn’t a kettle in the room, and the pool was closed The balcony in my room which looked over the Nile was amazing, I hope they invest some money into the building before it is run down beyond repair.

This hotel is right on the Nile with a lively cafe that serves until late. If you want a decent place in Zamalek this is a good choice.

Not worth it
The room did not have a bottle of water. I paid an additional 20 dollars for breakfast for two and received two boiled eggs and some cheese with a lot of bread. I asked the front desk where I could get a covid test and they wanted me to pay 2500 LE for each person. Once I told them I wanted just information and would do it myself, they stopped helping me. They simply wanted to make more money by overcharging for something that costs 1400 LE per person.
