Really great house with a fantastic terrace
We booked this house for the view and we really loved in. The street where the house is located is very calm, so every evening we feeled like we're the only ones out there. The barbecue ofcourse also made the outside place feel like home. The garden was maintained well. Inside the house we loved the space and the double bathroom. The contact with the host was really good.

Great location and property
We had a lovely stay. The property is very nice, great location close to penguins and easy drive to other attractions, and has great views. The listing could be clearer that there is a cash deposit and early arrival/departure fee. Not a problem, but that only became clear later when we signed the contract.

Amazing stay
Overall was lovely we enjoyed the stay. Jen went above and beyond even had sweets and hot chocolate all setup for the kids. Place is cold in winter maybe another heater would be great.

Great Stay
The house was clean and set up very well. Didn't need for anything. Jenni was amazing. Her recommendations for food was ON POINT!!! We lost wifi on day 2 and she tried her best to get it operational again.

Dream place to stay
Very quiet neighborhood. Walking distance from the beach (Boulders and others), sea side restaurants and downtown Simon's Town shopping and dining. Excellent manager, very responsive via WhatsApp. The only downside is the distance from downtown Cape Town but we didn't mind the ride with such wonderful views. Overall, great experience. Would come again! Kudos to Jen. ❤️

Lovely cottage with a great location
This is a lovely cottage that has all the amenities you need. Checking in with Jenni was painless and she went over everything we needed to know. We loved that we could walk to Boulder Beach and to Simons Town. We had some beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Would highly recommend this property and hope to return someday.

Future first option
Simply cannot fault anything - from the time of booking until checkout. Excellent service including, updates on load shedding schedules and alternative lighting and cooking options, sharing of local knowledge and responsive contact throughout our stay. Will most certainly place this property at the top of our return holiday accommodation options in the Western Cape. Thank you for delivering as advertised and adding to making this a memorable break.

Excellent location and amazing property manager
The checkin process is unlike anything I have ever experienced, but I totally get it now. The house needs to be secured from baboons so there is a process that needs to be explained in person. It’s not hard, just too much to explain in text. Jenni the property manager is an absolute delight. The location of the property couldn’t be any better. It’s walkable to boulders beach. The porch/patio is gorgeous, sadly it was too cold to really get to enjoy it for our stay but in warmer months it’s perfect for sunrise or moonrise (not facing the right direction for sunset, but still gorgeous). The property is older so it doesn’t have a lot of outlets in convenient places and the sinks are the old school double faucet, but it’s very clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

Sehr schönes Ferienhaus
Wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen. Das Haus ist hell und freundlich eingerichtet und hat alles was man für einen Aufenthalt einer 6-köpfigen Familie braucht. Die Lage oberhalb von Simon‘s Town ist ideal. Wir haben die Zeit hier sehr genossen.

Amazing Location
Stunning home with a beautiful view of the ocean! Literally up the road from the famous penguin colony. The deck was fantastic for barbecuing and sunsets. We cannot wait to come next year. Amazing and more amazing! Views to dream for!
We had a wonderful stay! The sunset and sunrise views over the bay was absolutely amazing from almost every window and porch of the home. My family loved the home so much that we want to buy it if it one day comes up for sale. Please let me know! The house was very well equipped with everything a guest could need. The property manager went out of her way to make our stay pleasant. Thank you so much!

Beautiful stay
Everything was peaceful and beautiful, from booking through arrival, stay and departure. The location in Simon's Town was perfect for our stay with children, as were the accommodations. The property managers made everything easy. I can't say enough about how beautiful and peaceful the house and town were to stay for our vacation. Definitely would stay here again next time. The Property manager was great he let me use USD for the deposit and gave it back on departure.

Imraan I am so pleased. It’s good that Barry managed to fix the hot water flow. Sorry about that, you are the first guests since Easter this year and the Cottage has been sad not to have visitors so there are a few maintenance glitches to attend to!

Charming cottage with stunning views and a great location
The cottage was lovely and welcoming. Our host was most accommodating in every way The patio has views of the ocean and the mountains and a beach frequented by a colony of penguins is just a few blocks away. Everything about our stay was restful and hassle free - we hated to leave!

Home from Home
We were very comfortable at Mermaid Cottage. Very light with lovely views over False Bay. Pleasant sitting room with good dining area and small but good kitchen. Oven a little slow but good hob. Washing machine and D/W very good. Double bed could be larger and mattress more comfortable. Bathrooms not new but perfectly adequate with very good hot water supply. Electrics could be updated to be more user friendly. We were disappointed that the satellite TV service had been discontinued as we were unable to watch the news or sports channels. Gina the agent was always on hand for any queries.

Complete package
We stayed for four days in mid January. The house is very accessible for trips to the Cape, Boulders Beach, Chapmans Drive, Cape Town and anything in between including Kirstenbosch gardens. Also it’s about 75/90 minutes easy drive to Stellenbosch and the Winelands. The house is very comfortable and well equipped on a quiet road with good views over False Bay and outside seating areas although we weren’t able to use them due to high winds. It is about ten minutes drive from two good sized supermarkets although there is a convenience store very close. The check in with the local agent was very easy and the deposit paid to the owner directly in pounds sterling rather than ZAR was returned without difficulty. Wi-fi was available with good speed. We would highly recommend this property.

Everything about mermaid cottage is just perfect,location is fantastic, Just a short walk to penguins and the centre of Simonstown where everyone we met was friendly and accommodating.Cannot find fault with anything about our stay here.And just to put the cream on top of the cake England won the cricket,we can’t wait to visit again. Grandioser Meerblick, geschmackvolle Einrichtung
Egal ob man auf einer der beiden Terrassen oder im Wohnraum sitzt, der Blick über die riesige Bucht ist traumhaft. Dabei ist es hier am Ende von Simon`s Town wunderbar ruhig und entspannt. Nur die vielen lustigen Vögel hört man ab und zu. Die Räume sind großzügig und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Zur nächsten haisicheren Badebucht mit Pinguinen sind es knapp fünf Fußminuten. Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen und fühlten uns durch di e Agentur sehr gut betreut.

Magnifique
Maison très bien située pour visiter Le Cap et ses environs. La maison est spacieuse et magnifique avec une belle vue sur la mer. La communication avec Elspeth la propriétaire a été excellente. Sur place, nous avons été très bien accueillis par Barry. Je recommande cette maison pour un séjour au Cap.

Schöne Unterkunft am Rand von Cape Town
Mermaid Cottage ist ein gut gepflegtes Haus mit schönem Ausblick auf die Bucht. Das Haus ist gut ausgestattet und für eine Familie ideal aufgeteilt (3 Schlafzimmer, 2 Bäder). Der Hausverwalter Barry ist sehr hilfsbereit und kennt sich in der Umgebung gut aus. Die Besitzerin versorgt die Gäste vorab mit nützlichen Tipps und "Gebrauchsanweisungen" für's Haus. Mermaid Cottage liegt in Simon`s Town, ca 30 Autominuten vom Stadtzentrum entfernt. Strand und die Pinguine von Boulders Beach sind in Laufabstand. Gute Einkaufsmöglichkeiten im Nachbarort. Gute Ausgangslage für einen Besuch am Kap der guten Hoffnung.

Peace and quiet
We are charmed with the light, clean, pretty cottage, so quietly tucked in, off the main road of Simon's Town. As the weather was so pleasant, we could make use of the terrace and enjoy the morning breeze with a view of the sea. Karon was exremely helpful (with an extra reading lamp for the one bedroom) and Gina was there to welcome us warmly. A friendly, warm experience!

A very cosy cottage
The Mermaid Cottage is a very cosy place to stay in Simons Town. We really enjoyed our stay and it was close to the pinguins and restaurants. Elspeth and Barry were both very helpful and I could recommend this cottage very much.

Great Location
Great Location. Quiet in the Wintertime. Short walk to view the penguins at Boulders Beach. Beautiful sunrise over the bay. We enjoyed breakfast at the Lighthouse Cafe. We used the clothes washing machine and hung our clothes outside on the line to dry. Two bathrooms with bathtubs and no standup shower. I haven’t taken a bath sitting in the tub since I was a child. The electric wall heater in one bedroom did not work. We enjoyed meeting Barry at arrival but I have never before had to pay a security deposit in cash. Using a credit card was not available. We didn’t have water one day because of a water main break in town. We experienced load shedding in Johannesburg and decided that no water was worse than no electricity. This is Africa was our reaction. Our 3 night stay here was part of a 3 week vacation across Southern Africa visiting family.

Matt thanks so much for useful feedback I'll get the electric wall heater checked, there is a stand up shower in the en suite bathroom. Pleased you found Barry helpful and managed the cash security deposit rather than by bank transfer. Pity about load shedding and no water, you're right this is Africa!

Amazing views !!!
Elspeth, thank you so much for such a memorable stay at your home. This home is in a great location. Bolder beach is literally a 5 min walk away. The views from the porch are perfect for sunrise coffee. The home itself is great. Very clean and again good views from the living room windows. Berry was amazing as well. Answered any questions we had. He went above and beyond to make sure we knew where good restaurants were and a small grocery down the street for snacks to keep at the house. Berry even helped us unload our luggage. He is amazing and an A+. Elspeth Thank you for keeping in touch making sure we made it and that check in and out went smooth. Hope to see you again soon !!!

Great Location in Simon's Town
We had a great stay at the cottage! It was within walking distance to Boulder's Beach and the little shops. The views are spectacular! And Barry made our stay even better with great recommendations and hospitality. We would definitely love to stay here again if we ever get the chance to return :)

Mermaid Cottage.
We stayed at this lovely home for a week while visiting my daughter, an exchange student at UCT. The home is everything the photos suggest: simple, elegant, comfortable, and impeccably maintained. It has wonderful views of False Bay and is a comfortable walk to downtown Simon's Town.

Quaint, cosy house!
The house was very nice. Great views and it had everything we needed. We made our own breakfasts and the kitchen was perfect. Barry, the caretaker, responded to any queries we had and provided us with good restaurants. Will recommend!

Perfect stay for family
A perfect place for us four with enough space for everybody. The lovely cottage is located in a quiet and safe neighbourhood with beach, shops and restaurants in walking distance. We enjoyed staying in a light, clean, very well kept and equipped house with a breathtaking view. The owner and the letting company (Barry) answered messages and requests fast, flexible and friendly. Thank you for a great stay. Hope to be back!
