Beautiful location, but disappointing experience!
The house and grounds were very nice and the view was beautiful, especially at sunset. There was lots of space including a small guest house, but we had issues while staying there: A jewelry case was stolen from the guest house with all the jewelry. When I told our VRBO contact, we were informed that the house was very remote and no one would go up there. This only made me think it was someone who had prior knowledge of the house and tourists there. The problem was the doors did not lock for the main house and the guest house. We informed our VRBO contact and was told again it is a remote location that no one goes to and there is no stealing there. He said he would come out the next day to check on the locks but never did. When we insisted that the jewelry box and all the jewelry was stolen, we were told that we better be sure because the police would prosecute us if we were lying. When we insisted we were not lying, they said we should have used the safe. We informed them the safe they provided was barely big enough to fit all of our passports and a wallet. Nothing else would fit. They did not have a response for that issue. In the end, they did not do anything to help nor take any kind of description of the stolen items. Also the website understates the walk to the house with 14 switchbacks after the 100 steps with no lighting at night.
