Great place to stay when visiting the Cederberg. Spectacular gardens around the property with a beautiful pool. Walking distance to restaurants and shops as well as some of the more touristy attractions in town.

Lovely Guesthouse, highly recommend
We had a wonderful two night stay at the Yellow Aloe Guesthouse. Would definitely recommend as a place to stay in Clanwilliam and visit the surrounding area. We were well looked after and had a great time.

This beautiful place is like a trip to another realm… so peaceful and with so many hidden garden areas to escape into. Our upstairs room in the main building, The Cream Room, was great… though if you are over 6 feet tall you will need to watch your head on the support beams of the ceiling in this charming room. They are right in the midst of Clanwilliam, so able to walk to shops, restaurants, etc. when you decide to venture outside the gates of Yellow Aloe, yet so quiet you’ll believe you’re already out in the countryside. Owners and staff are amazingly kind and efficient. Definitely hope to get back!

Such a wonderful location. I think May is a particularly beautiful time. Warm and the garden was stunning. Full of birds. Great to sit outside for breakfast. Very helpful staff.

This is a comfortable and beautiful property with delightful gardens. The bedroom was spacious, clean and well equipped. Lovely en suite bathroom. Very good breakfast. Highly recommended.

Yellow Aloe is such a lovely property. Everyone there was so wonderful to interact with every day. I would recommend this place to everyone!! The pool was so wonderful to swim in every morning and the decor of the property was all around wonderful. I'd love to stay there again!

A real gem

Nice guest house with beautiful gardens
This guest house is very comfortable, with lovely grounds and helpful staff. Though the guest house didn't have power for part of our stay (we arrived during a power outage caused by a storm), the owners and staff tried as much as possible to meet our needs and provide a pleasant stay. We were quite taken with the decor, and enjoyed the breakfast, as well as the guest house in general. A good place to stay while exploring the Cederberg.

Fruitful and green
Clanwilliam is not a place to stay for a holiday. It is a rather tire'd little town. Yellow Aloe guesthouse is one of the best of the accommodation offered. Cheryl Spilsbury throws her heart and soul into improving and maintaining the several buildings she has acquired since my first visit in 2009. I believe some of the rooms are much more comfortable and with a mountain view, offer greater peace and quiet. My room faced the road, and it was a little gloomy and certainly noisy. The staff are wonderful. Joseph, Cheryl's right hand man, who, with his wife who also supervises the rooms, hails from Malawi. The food is very good, but service is agonisingly slow. I would have liked coffee to have been served in individual cafetieres, rather than by a pump system, which is not ideal. Also breakfast could be more inviting, choice was small, and all in all, not the best I have had. But the location, the garden, nursery where one can purchase lovely plants, and general ambience, combined with Cheryl, her partner Michel, and her daughter Megan, all of whom throw themselves into ensuring guests are happy and satisfied, leave little to be desired. Brava Cheryl...

Stayed for one night as convenient place. They don't offer dinner and on Sunday Eve choices are limited. Avoid the restaurant in the Clanwilliam Hotel. Lovely gardens and very relaxing place with excellent hosts.

The Secret Garden
This guest house is a real jewel, with comfortable and quiet rooms embedded in a spectacular garden. When you sit down for the excellent breakfast on the porch, among the plants and trees with weaver bird nests and song birds at the many small fountains which are distributed throughout the garden, and then take a refreshing dip in one of several small pools, you may never want to leave. Now that we have discovered this magic place, we are certain to make this a stop on future trips.

The garden is beautiful and so fitting for the area. We stayed at the longhouse which was a very charming and beautiful place to stay at. The owners are very helpful and friendly which made us feel at home. We really loved our stay at Yellow Aloe and if we ever have to stay in the Cederberg again, then we shall definately return.

Rustig gelegen en toch in het centrum met prachtige tuin. Sober ingerichte kamer zonder locker met een veel te kleine badkamer( 2.5 m2) zodat zelfs geen ruimte voor drinkglazen aanwezig was.. Goed ontbijt en vriendelijk personeel.

Das Haus liegt in einem schönen schattigen Garten. Die Betreiber sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit . Zimmer waren gut und hatten gute Betten. Ich würde wieder hier wohnen wenn ich in der Gegend wäre.

Ce Guesthouse constitué de deux maisons : une vieille maison avec varangue et une longhouse, est extraordinaire et surprenant. Il faut se promener dans le jardin pour en découvrir tous les coins et recoins décorés avec des objets plus ou moins anciens, parfois recyclés, tout ceci dans une profusion de plantes et de fleurs. Nous avons logé dans une superbe et grande chambre de la longhouse avec une petite avancée sous des canisses ou des plantes. Chambre très confortable, très propre, avec un lit de bonne taille contenant tout ce qu'il faut pour passer un bon séjour dans cette petite ville sympathique, au pied du massif du Cederberg, propice à de belles balades. Le breakfast, copieux, se prend dans la salle à manger de la vieille maison ainsi que le dîner, sur commande préalable avant 17h. Le service est un peu long en soirée. Nous avons bien apprécié l'accueil chaleureux et sympathique du personnel ainsi que le cadre exceptionnel de ce guesthouse.
