My brother brings me to Ohio every 3 months for Cleveland Clinic appointments. I always opt to rent houses, not hotels, for their space and amenities. Over time, I’ve stayed in economy to luxury, from downtown to far east side ‘burbs (where we have friends). Euclid is a close-in, east side suburb—convenient for us, with shopping and interesting restaurants. I erred by picking a split-level instead of a ranch—too much of a challenge for my handicap, but no fault of the house. I wasn’t feeling well, and I’m elderly, so the lack of a bathroom on the same level as the living-dining-kitchen was an unfortunate choice that forced me to use stairs I wish I could have avoided. On the plus side, the host was topnotch, and the neighborhood quiet. Everything was clean, beds were comfortable. We had nearly all we needed for our stay. The only issues for me were: No grab bar in the shower; The unusual absence of bedroom dressers, which meant we had to live out of suitcases for everything we couldn’t hang. The bunk-bedroom and lower level family room are plusses if traveling with kids, as is the small fenced backyard. But the full length mirror in the hallway corner just outside the kids’ bedroom stopped my grandmother heart. That’s a bad accident begging to happen to a child (or to me). Please put it behind the master bedroom door! This urban, updated, older split-level is priced fairly. The absence of dressers in every bedroom, and lack of a shower safety bar is a problem.
