Really nicely designed home in a good location near entrance to Playa Hermosa. However, it really seemed like it needed some maintenance. The elements there are harsh, sun, rain, sand (and renters) and you could see it in the house. Metal beams, refrigerator, and speakers were rusty, wood needed to be sanded and stained, various items broken, including speakers and door latches. Lounge area downstairs was dirty and cushions were sun bleached. Pool was disgusting and not working, possibly as it is situated right beneath a tree that the capuchins hang out in on their way through, and so they drop a lot of debris in the water. We also were getting bitten by insects that were not mosquitoes and looked to us like bed bugs. All that said, the house is really nice and is a great example of award-winning design by architect Benjamin Garcia-Saxe. It’s just a shame that it isn’t maintained very well. We also stayed at Oceaneye, another Garcia-Saxe home down the road that was built around the same time, in 2013 or so, and the difference in upkeep was stark. Hopefully the owners have closed rentals for a while to give it the TLC it deserves.
