Jungle Oasis
If you are looking for being one with the local nature, surrounded by beauty, in a laid back little beach town, then look no further! Our stay at Lokita’s casita was everything we’d hoped! From the howler monkeys and bird calls to rise to, chirping geckos and lazy lizards to entertain you, as well as a lovely plunge pool to keep you cool while you enjoy it all. To say it didn’t disappoint would be an understatement. Don’t forget a pair of binoculars to comb the trees for howlers and birds in the distance! While feeling complete privacy in the serenity, Lokita was just a quick message away for any questions or recommendations. We hope to return sooner than later!

Gorgeous Private Casita
We had a wonderful stay at this Casita right outside of Montezuma. The view and privacy was outstanding. The infinity dunk pool was an amazing feature we used from morning to night. The grounds of the property are meticulously maintained and beautiful. The location is outside of the city of Montezuma, but close enough for restaurants and beautiful beaches. There couldn’t be a more private location. The owner, Lokita, was extremely responsive to any concerns and gave advice on places to visit and eat. We hope to return to this rental again.

Montezuma Casita - property #930968
The property owner had been away for 7 months and was not there when I arrived so I dealt with the “groundskeeper” through Wattsapp. He spoke no English but we managed. When I went into the Casita there was an overwhelming sewer/septic smell which I was told had never been an issue. I ended up locating the source of the smell and repairing it on my own. I was then abruptly informed by the property owner upon her return to stop messaging the groundskeeper. There seemed to be a problem with the AC from the beginning and it eventually stopped working which again I was told had never been a problem. The owner dealt with the issue promptly but implied that somehow I contributed to its failure. I was asked to leave for most of the day to facilitate the replacement of the AC, it was non repairable. One day there was a water line break and had water shut off for most of one day. The ants were numerous on the property and power outages were numerous. I ran out of toilet paper and did not ant to deal with the hassle of asking for more so I bought my own. I was informed of repairs required to the carport and had to move my car, it didn’t happen until the next day. The owner told me my car was touching the plants at the front of the carport and then put a rope across the front of the carport. When I returned home the owner messaged me and said she went into the property after I left and the floor was wet and the AC probably froze and she will not accept another reservation from me.

Clarifications: * The broken a/c was replaced with a new within 24 hours. I suggested that the guest might not want to be in the Casita during the disruptive installation. For his inconvenience I gave him - unasked - a one-night refund which he never acknowledged. * My gardener/handyman lives onsite and repairs himself or coordinates repairmen in my absence. Guests are requested to report any problems immediately and issues are always remedied as fast as possible. * The water had to be shut off due to a broken pipe - not "for most of the day" but for the 90 minutes it took to fix the leak. * Ants and other insects live in the jungle around us. Especially in the green season (May-Nov) when it is very humid and rainy, ants can be abundant - outdoors. One must accept this when visiting or living in this warm, tropical climate. * During his 15-night stay there was one power outage that affected the entire area, from approx. 5pm-10pm, due to heavy rains and a fierce thunderstorm. Nothing could be done except wait it out. * A branch fell on the carport roof in the same storm and broke a roof tile. My contractor postponed his visit to fix the leak last minute, to the next day. The guest had to park his car (within the gated, secure property) about 10 yards away from the carport for a few hours. * Once the guest drove to the very edge of the carport. The weight of his car loosened the low retaining wall, rocks shifted, and the car's hot bonnet touched against the plants, burning their leaves. The rope was meant to be helpful and will remain there. * Privacy to me is of high value, therefore I will not comment on the guest other than to say that he told me that a/c was extremely important to him, and in a written message he expressed his wish to return the following year. * About half an hour after he departed, I discovered condensation water running down the walls and windows of my Casita, and the floor tiles were icy cold. All surfaces were wet. I then realized that this guest's needs could not be met by my Casita, particularly the a/c system. * I first raised the issue with VRBO, then finally wrote to him that regretfully, I would not be able to accept a future reservation from him because the Casita was not meeting his requirements. His afternoon reply was kind and understanding. Later that night came his review. * All other 57 reviews on this site show a very different picture.

We loved our stay in this casita. The views from this place are better than the pictures. We loved being close to the town of Montezuma, but still tucked away in the beautiful oasis. This place is very well thought out and very clean. We hope to stay here again someday!

Perfect Getaway
Right from booking Lokita went above and beyond by sharing local recommendations, including all things from food to activities. We went to numerous restaurants recommended and loved each one, also going horse back riding that was suggested. The casita had everything we needed and provided us a safe and secure stay in paradise. We were greeted upon arrival and had all the information needed for our stay. The location was better than expected and a close walk away from a waterfall hike. We felt safe and very content in this casita. We would stay again and again here. You can hear the sound of howler monkeys and birds from the porch, a true pura vida experience. Thank you for hosting us!

Paradise- away from it all!
If you’re looking for a laid back beach town with abundant nature, this is it! The casita was comfortable and had all the amenities we needed for breakfast and lunch in. View is incredible. Privacy abounds with all the tropical landscaping. Would recommend this place if you are planning to go to Montezuma.

Lokita’s casita is located on a hilltop overlooking the Pacific Ocean in the village of Montezuma Costa Rica. It is perfect for a couple looking for a very quiet & secure house. The kitchen & seating area are open to the ocean breezes, while the bedroom & bath area can be air conditioned if you desire. The plunge pool is perfect for a fresh water dip after swimming in the very salty ocean. For us a car was necessary as the 500 foot hill from the village is very steep & dangerous for walking. An ATV rental would also be an option if you came without a car. The view of the ocean & wooded terrain are so special that it’s impossible to overstate

Best Place we stayed in Costa Rica
We travelled Costa Rica for a month and we enjoyed this property the best, stayed here for a week. The view, the casita and the pool are all just right. You get the morning sun but plenty of shade and breezes in the hot afternoon. Everything is convenient within the casita and Lokita has lots of information available for the Casita (so you’re not asking a million questions or trying to figure things out on your own) and the area. Vladimir kept the grounds looking lovely and it was great to have access to a washing machine at this point in our trip, Lokita was very prompt in all her replies and very helpful with her directions and suggestions to ease our travel to her place. We saw quite a few different birds on the property and heard howler monkeys occasionally. Playa Cocal (Grande) is lovely and a great walk from the Property although we only did the steep walk up the hill once. The nearby waterfalls are worth a visit and the Brewery just down the road is convenient for a drink or a bite to eat. We did do an exploring drive to Santa Theresa. These smaller roads in Costa Rica are an “adventure” for sure. Have a 4x4. Bottom line, highly recommend this property.

Outdoor living at its finest
This vacation rental has beautiful ocean views! If you are solar powered like I am, I recommend getting up early to enjoy the sunrise and bask in the glow of the early morning sun on your face. 🙂 I loved that the living room, kitchen and dining room is outdoors so we spent our days outside listening the the birds and enjoying the views and wonderful ocean breezes. We identified over 20 different bird calls around our patio using our Merlin Bird ID app for Costa Rica! The sounds were as enjoyable as the views. I was concerned that it might be too hot some days to enjoy the outdoor living concept but was pleasantly surprised by how it is designed to catch the breezes from every direction and has a ceiling fan to keep the air circulating so we never felt overheated. The bedroom is indoors so we could enjoy the cool while we slept, and the bathroom is indoors but the exterior shower wall is entirely glass brick and a portion of the other exterior wall is open screen so it is bright and well ventilated. Lokita was a very nice, thoughtful and helpful host who was very quick to respond if we needed anything and gave us local suggestions, but also ensured we had outstanding privacy. The pool was so enjoyable and the gardens around the casita are absolutely gorgeous! The roads around Montezuma and area can be very bumpy and steep at times. If we go back we will rent a different vehicle with more power and capability for handling that. We walked one day to a restaurant nearby and got a great workout on the inclines!

Amazing!!
The casita was nothing short of perfection. It was the perfect quiet oasis for my husband and I to go on our honeymoon. Lokita was kind and thoughtful and made everything so easy. The plunge pool, hammocks and adjoining sun deck were quite honestly perfect, better than we could have imagined. A short walk to a brewery and waterfall hike! And an easy 5 min drive to town for lots of great restaurants and beaches. We only wish we could have stayed longer!

This property was great. The wildlife is amazing. The Montezuma Waterfalls are minuets from the property. The internet was good for my work, I was able to video chat with no issue. Location is key to Montezuma, but make sure you have a SUV the road conditions in the area require this.

If you visit the area with a vehicle, especially in the green=rainy season (mid May to mid-Nov) the roads are often rough, and a 4x4 SUV is recommended. Alternative, ATVs can be rented in downtown Montezuma. For visits in the dry season a 2WD will suffice. Many of the roads in the area are unsealed and potholes are common.

Lolita was very responsive with the reservation. Everything went smoothly. The casita was sweet and had everything we needed. The setting was fabulous, views to the ocean and trees filled with birds and monkeys. The location at Montezuma was very interesting, too.

Lokita’s place is awesome!
We have been visiting Costa Rica since 1997, and Lokita’s casita is one of the best places we’ve ever stayed at. We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary there, and everything was perfect. The location can’t be beat. It’s peaceful and quiet, and just up the hill from Montezuma. From there we visited Curu, as well as Cabo Blanco national parks, went to Cobano, Cabuya, and walked many beautiful beaches. Lokita is a wonderful hostess and we are so glad we were able to enjoy her little slice of heaven. We tried to take her dog Coco back with us but she wouldn’t budge!

Truly paradise
Lokita has a lovely landscaped home. The casita, for paying guests, is at the far end of the property with a view that never ends and so much privacy. The paths are beautifully maintained and the plantings complement the location. The casita has an enclosed bedroom and bathroom, both very spacious and elegant. The cooking, eating and living happens on the front terrace. The climate is perfect for outdoor living. We stayed at the beginning of the dry season and had only one day of torrential rain. The outdoor space includes a small refrigerator, a propane powered cook top and a very well stocked kitchen. If something is missing, ask and Lokita will supply it. Essentials such as olive oil, salt, pepper, etc were supplied. We chose to spend a lot of time hanging out by the pool or rocking in the hammocks looking down at the ocean. Down is a key word here, as you will be up a steep hill above Montezuma, which is about one kilometer away. Walking is tricky as the road is narrow and is shared by cars, ATV’s and mopeds. We would walk down and take a taxi back, but it isn’t the most pleasant walk. Having a rental car will open up more possibilities for you and there is free parking at the casita. There are some good restaurants in the area and the beach is beautiful. We loved the Curù Preserve tour. Iguanas will sun themselves on the roof above you and howler monkeys will remind you to wake up for the sunrise. You can’t really get closer to nature and still be pampered than this.

Wonderful little casita
We very much enjoyed our stay in the casita. The grounds were beautiful. The view was amazing. It was nice to have the owner on site in case any concerns came up. We didn't cook in at all except for making coffee because we wanted to eat out but it appeared to be well stocked. There are many good restaurants in town, especially if you like seafood but there are also many other good options. As an activity I would suggest, the Curu Reserve which is an hour away but worth the drive for wildlife (especially mammals) and a good natural history tour by the owner Luis. The pool was amazing with a great view, able to do laps and we had it all to ourselves. I noticed the hotels in town don't even seem to have pools. Would definitely return again if we are in the area.

Off the Grid Retreat
The property was absolutely wonderful and just what I was looking for. Private paradise with a stunning view
Our casita was a wonderful private paradise to call home for our week in Costa Rica. We loved spending our time on the patio, cooking breakfast and dinner (with fresh produce from the Saturday farmer's market), drinking coffee, enjoying the presence of the birds, monkeys, and chirping lizards, watching thunderstorms, and gazing at gorgeous ocean view. The bedroom was large and cozy, with a full view of the outdoors across the patio, and the bathroom had a luxurious indoor/outdoor feel. The aircon provided a wonderful comfort at night. The property is very safe and secure, both the casita itself and the whole property. The pool and yoga hut were both tranquil and rejuvenating amenities. Lokita was a wonderful host, providing great recommendations for our experiences around Montezuma. She was very accommodating with our schedule and was empathetic with our local critter experiences. Coco was an added pleasure to have around. In talking with other travelers staying in the area, this property is certainly a diamond in the jungle. Located up the mountain and away from the town, the location of this home is stellar. We were very pleased with our stay here and highly recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a private casita to call home while visiting.

Fabulous Stay!
Lokita and Coco were fantastic hosts. Lokita is so kind and helpful. She made me feel so comfortable. The views a postcard worthy, so beautiful. The casita set up was awesome. I loved the outdoor patio and hammocks. I didn’t have a car for this trip, but I rented an atv and had that for my stay and it was just perfect for the area and a lot of fun. Breath-taking views
Lokita was an amazing and gracious host. She helped arrange transport to and from the airport with a wonderful driver. We fell into place quite easily and felt at home right away. The views were endless and you could get lost for hours just staring off into the distance. And at the same time, you never felt like you lost any time doing so. Everything just slows down in a paradise like that. We would highly recommend Lokita's slice of paradise and would love to get back there in the future. Mt. Olympus in Montezuma ?
We loved our stay at Lokita's casita . The view is exquisite whether it was night or day. We spent many evenings in the hammocks and they were better then any planetarium experience we've ever had. It was so peaceful and just what we were looking for. For an encore on the last two nights there were lightning storms and what a particular treat that was. It wasn't raining in Montezuma and storm seemed to be over Jaco but the light show was one of the most spectacular sights. Lokita is a fantastic host and we would recommend her to anyone who ever wanted to feel a little like a Greek God or Godess.

Lovely property!
We spent five nights at Lokita's charming Casita. Very hot while we were there but always seemed to be breezes on this hilltop setting. Beautiful sunrises and a great pool. Quiet and peaceful landscaped setting. Some really good restaurants- eg Clandestina- close by as well as some lovely beaches. We had a great time and would love to return in the future.

We loved our 5 night stay at Lokita's casita. The views overlooking Montezuma to the ocean is stunning. The casita is neat and well maintained. We had a problem with the air conditioning which Lokita had a repair person come to fix it. There are lots of dishes to do your own cooking. And also a BBQ was wonderful to prepare food. There are also a few really great restaurants closeby. We drove to them. We had a 4x4 rented which we used to do day trips- hiking at Cabo Blanco, and various beaches discoveries. The pool is great to cool off and just enjoy the view. The area was quiet and the gardens are well cared for. Waking up to the sounds of birds singing and howler monkeys was delightful. Lokita was great to communicate with prior to our trip and during it. She answered emails quickly and provided all kinds of info. We found the casita and property peaceful. An amazing place to stay to use as a base for touring this area.

Sublime Retreat with Ocean View
Lokita's property is so well cared for - completely private and away from it all. I loved the open air living area and we found ourselves up every morning to watch sunrise from her comfy easy chairs. We enjoyed the infinity pool and covered yoga platform and felt like we had the place all to ourselves as Lokita is very respectful of her guest's privacy. We were very happy we had a vehicle because the steep walk up hill from town would have been too much on a daily basis. But so worth the amazing view!! Can't wait to return!

Tranquil and dreamy Casita
Lokita's Casita was such a lovely place to stay. It was a little slice of paradise within the beauty of the Montezuma area. Every detail of the Casita made for a tranquil, romantic, and relaxing experience. From the ocean views, to the serene infinity pool, this place had it all for a couple looking to get away. For those into yoga, she has a gorgeous yoga pavilion right next to the pool, also overlooking the ocean (yes please!). This place is about a 10-15 walk to the little town of Montezuma where there are shops, wonderful restaurants and sodas, grocery stores, places to book tourist activities and excursions, and plenty of beaches. There are even a few breweries in the area that had fantastic beer. Lokita is a great host. She made sure we had everything we needed and even helped us book our ferry tickets for our trip home. She had wonderful recommendations for things to do and places to eat. Her dog Coco is the sweetest too. The property itself is safe and secure, and it's pretty easy to come and go. We would definitely stay here again, it was like a mini luxury resort for 2 all to ourselves.

Great location and private space
Will spend more time here and in Montezuma next time. Beautifully situated and designed, this private setting was everything we needed and more. From morning coffee to evening beverages, the views don’t get better than this and Lokita/Coco are truly wonderful hosts. Nicely equipped with room to breathe and hammock, this property was the highlight of our time in Costa Rica.

Absolutely beautiful property.
Gorgeous, well appointed, sparkling clean, well laid out and private. For coordination and communication, host Lokita was nothing short of outstanding. My visit was brief. I wish I had more time there.

Beyond any and all Expectations!
I have to say with this being our first time in Costa Rica, I don't think we could have chosen a better owner, property or town. Although Barry and I did not meet the fabulous Lokita, she made sure to dot all I's and cross all T's, making our stay at her BEAUTIFUL Casita the best experience ever!. We mistakenly missed our initial flight into Tambor, but Lokita was quick with her responses and ensured and comforted us with a follow up plan. Once we arrived we were greeted by Bladimir and family and of course CoCo the Doberman, The Casita is everything and more, and the entire property explodes with nature. We walked into town everyday, ate at all of the local eateries (2 and 3 x even) We took taxies and enjoyed the locals. We were AMAZED by the waterfall and Armando our guide. There really is too much goodness to write here, with that being said we will definitely return to Paradise and Lokita's residence. She really thinks of every little detail and makes you feel welcomed and comfortable on her property.

Amazing experience!!
What an amazing experience!! Lokita is a great host. She is very helpful and friendly....always smiling! The Casita was nice and clean.... and the air conditioning works well. We enjoyed the privacy as well. The bed is comfortable and we loved the large open shower. The view from the Casita is breathtaking.....simply amazing!! I look forward to staying here again my next visit.

This is a great place to have a romantic getaway. The view is amazing and the privacy of the Casita will make you feel like your are the only two people in Paradise.

Amazing!!!
The casita was amazing and we absolutely loved it! Lokita was great and responded promptly since I contacted her before even booking the place. We only stayed two nights and we wished we could have stayed longer. Only thing is the room didn’t have a TV, but we were able to access Netflix with the WiFi on our iPad. Besides it wasn’t something that bothered us, since we only watched Netflix as we had down time before going to bed .... about an hour if that. We were able to spot some howler monkeys and my boyfriend actually woke up to their howls around 5am...... I on the other hand slept right through it. I thought that was insanely cool though. I would definitely recommend this place and recommend you stay a minimum of 4 nights... ideally 7! Thank you Lokita for everything!

Peaceful and Beautiful
Lokita was so gracious and her property was the relaxation we needed for a few days on our 10 day trip throughtout Costa Rica. Loved the ambiance of the property and the pool was amazing since the ocean had many riptides making me weary to swim in. I feel like I experienced a bit of paradise staying here.

Beautiful and relaxing.

Absolutely Amazing, Beautiful, Comfortable and Private
We stayed a week and it was our favorite stop in Costa Rica. The casita has a big shower, great king size bed with lots of room, two large closets, and the very best part is the outdoor kitchen and eating area. As you sit and eat your meals you have spectacular views of the blue ocean. AMAZING and private. Our favorite times were at the pool sipping our coffee or enjoying a glass of wine. Then taking a short drive to the beach where we enjoyed a walk to one of the most beautiful white sandy beaches we have ever seen. It's called Playa Grande and offers places to swim and soft sand that you can paste your body with to rejuvenate your skin. There are also many tasty beachside restaurants in town and one within a short walk. You will be in the best of hands with Lokita as she will guide you to your choice of restaurants and local nature options. We will be coming back as soon as we can!!!
