Great host, super accommodating- even when we locked ourselves out! The house is clean and worked great for what we needed- would definitely stay here again.

Good, not great

The property was as described, however there were a few items that weren’t listed that made the stay less than comfortable. **These items were not things that could be reported to the owner as they were put there by the owner. The light switches in the bedrooms were taped with blue painters tape to prevent use, so lights needed to be either turned on at the light or manually pulled for ceiling lights and fans. There were several paper signs taped to walls around the house, one being that the included pool was cold and had not been recently cleaned. Another sign on a glass curio-display cabinet in the living room indicated that if any items were broken in the cabinet, the renter was going to be charged (I agree with this statement, however I would not recommend this property for guests with children). The flooring in the hallway was soft and pliable, making for a “squishy” flooring from bedrooms to bathroom. The bathroom is small, has very hard water, and the shower water pressure is very low…as well as the hot water being lukewarm at best. Overall opinion, this is a basic stay in the Commack area. Having stayed for three nights, I do wish we had stayed in a neighboring hotel with more amenities and more comfortable beds/baths.

Less Than Stellar Experience due to Unexpected Property Issues

Home interior was 56 degrees when we arrived. Turns out the thermostat requires wifi connection to function, which we resolved ourselves. Security alarm chimed every 60 seconds the entire time we were at the property, it could not be disabled. Host was aware of this issue prior to our arrival based on their report that they had lowered the volume as much as possible and could not otherwise solve the problem. Property host was attentive to messages about the issues but was overall unhelpful in resolving them. When we requested to depart the property for a refund about an hour into trying to make the heat work, no information on how to do that was provided. When we did depart the property early, I was informed we couldn’t receive refund for two reasons: 1. We did not depart before the checkout time. 2. I had not provided sufficient photographic evidence of the sound of the security alarm going off every 60 seconds, apparently the video was not sufficient. We did receive a refund of 1 night of our stay, which was better than nothing, but not in my opinion the right solution given that we vacated the property less than 24 hours after arriving. Excluding those issues, the property was fine.

Clean and Comfortable Home

Check in and check out were very easy. The owner replied quickly to my questions. The home was clean and comfortable. The location is very close to major highways with a lot of shopping and restaurants nearby. The neighborhood itself was quiet.

We felt very cozy in the home. We were comfortable letting our dogs run around the back yard. Excellent location to all our favorite places. We will stay again.

Nosy Owner

We had family stay here, one set of family left early in the morning and another later. The owner, who lives in the basement, woke up those staying here on their last day at 4:30 in the morning attempting to get in the house thinking we all had left. Scared my family half to death! Check-out time was not honored. Awful stay with nosy owner creeping around everywhere!
