In response to your comments, we very rarely have to make a claim against the damage deposit as is testified with no mention of damage related issues in seven years of running our holiday let and over 100 five star reviews. There were two clear burn marks to the carpet in the hall where the sparkler candles were lit on the birthday cake. We took photographs of these and sought advice from VRBO who advised us to temporarily ring fence the whole damage deposit while the various options were explored. For clarification, VRBO held all monies during this period. This was clearly explained to you as we had clients in immediately after your stay due to it being school holidays and we have a limited period to claim against any damage deposit. As you were then made aware, we were able to source a repair specialist who repaired the carpet for the same price as a pint. With all of our clients on the occasional cases of damage, we always seek to be fair and reasonable and fully transparent during the process of exploring solutions and also work in tandem with VRBO's guidelines and counsel.
