Our experience with the house was overall a positive one. The house was accurately described, and the check in process was as well. No complaints with this.
The furniture as well as the other furnishings were adequate, but the refrigerator wasn't the greatest. The posting warned about putting a lot of warm items in the refrigerator, that it wouldn't be able to keep up. So we refrigerated everything (including drinks) before coming down and kept everything cold in coolers till we were able to check in. The refrigerator just doesn't keep things very cold. We were very concerned with the temperature of our meat items.
The only negative thing that I can mention is the issue we had with bugs, roaches and ants. To the property managers credit, he had an exterminator out the next morning, but we were forced to throw out a lot of non refrigerated food that we brought with us because the bugs were able to penetrate through the packaging. Additionally, the bugs were in the bed linens as well. It's not a pleasant experience sleeping with bugs. The exterminator mentioned to one of our guests that the issue was a big one, and sprayed and placed traps all over the house. Again, embarrassing.
Overall it was a good experience, but we were not expecting the bug issue. We didn't expect a rental of this cost to have a problem with bugs. At a minimum, the cleaning crew should have seen the bugs and taken care of it prior to us checking in.
My suggestion is to add this to the list of items the cleaning crew checks for. We noticed the bugs within the first 15 minutes of being in the house, although we didn't know the extent of the problem until it was too late. Maybe exterminate the home between each rental until the issue is resolved.
