If you want to stay near Yosemite, there are very few choices. When I was searching for a place to stay, Evergreen Lodge had rave reviews. I'm not sure how.
First of all, the staff was great. Very friendly and helpful, so no problem with them. The room however, left much to be desired. I won't say it was dirty, but the couch was stained, the hem on the curtains was ripped and falling apart. The sink in the bathroom was clogged, the hot water handle hardly turned. The shower curtain was stained and one night we had no hot water at all. The food in the restaurant was just ok and vastly overpriced. The road to get there is about 6 miles of a very rough road. Now I get we were out in the woods and it's more like camping than a 4 star lodge.. but that's not a reason for the lack of simple upkeep in the room when the price is almost $300 per night... probably more on season. There are tents on site and maybe actually camping and being less expensive, would be a better experience. In summary, the place is just ok, but don't expect a 4 star lodge as many of the reviews suggest.
