Our second stay and we plan to return
A beautiful, characterful house in a beautiful location. We were a group of 6 friends but it would work equally well for a larger number - it was well equipped and had plenty of bathrooms. The owner was nearby and very friendly and helpful.

Christmas break
We were nine adults comprising my wife and me and our children and spouses plus my brother. The house was ideal for our needs with plenty of living space for and a well equipped kitchen to prepare some quite complex Christmas meals. The living room was perfect for our gift exchange on Christmas Day and had been decorated with a Christmas tree which was a nice touch. The location was peaceful, and great for visits to Brighton and Devil'sDyke but close enough to Gatwick to be able to pick up two of our party who flew in from Spain. On bad weather days we were quite happy to stay in and remain cosy. Overall we were all very happy with our stay and would gladly return providing our numbers don't increase to exceed the capacity of the property!

Perfect for group celebrations.
This property was just perfect for 10 ladies celebrating some big birthdays. There's not many properties that can provide 10 single beds (if required, check property details as can also be doubles) with 5 bathrooms, which was just perfect for our needs. The grounds are beautiful, we even managed to play rounders at our age, and the local Vineyard is within walking distance, as is a Spa with a great restaurant for Sunday lunch. Slight hiccup at the beginning regarding getting in due to a lost email, but resolved quickly and the host is nearby to resolve any issues and was very helpful before and during our stay (Thank you Ruth). If you're looking for peace and tranquility in the countryside, but also want to have fun without disturbing the neighbours then this is the perfect house. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.

Charming Country Getaway
We enjoyed a 5 night stay at the cottage as part of a celebration for my father-in-law’s 75th birthday. It checked off everything we wanted - idyllic picture book cottage, lovely gardens and well equipped kitchen. Most importantly we planned to use 5 bedrooms and wanted each guest room to have access to their own private bathroom, whether en-suite or down the hall. For our early June stay we had great weather and spent much of our daytime hours at the garden table. We cooked up a storm and enjoyed family dinners in the dining room each evening. Daytime activities included a round of golf at Singing Hills Golf Course, a visit to Nyman’s Gardens and an afternoon wine-tasting at Bolney Winery. The hosts live in a separate house on property and were delightful, helpful with great communication. Everything went smoothly from start to finish and we highly recommend booking this beautiful home for a small family gathering or even for a couple looking to escape for a few days to West Sussex.

Many of our guests comment how great it is to find a house with so many bathrooms; five bathrooms/shower rooms, three of which are ensuite, plus a separate cloakroom. The property was in a wonderful location with fabulous views. Very comfortable with plenty of space for 7 adults, it was also very well equipped. We would happily recommend it.

Beautiful historical cottage in quiet rural location
We had an absolutely lovely time here as a group for a long weekend of nature walks and art and games. The best thing about the house itself aside from the feeling of history is all the little nooks and seating areas - it was great for having various activities set up in different places (board games, watercolour painting, etc) and still feel like there were spaces for people to curl up with a book or take a nap. Very cosy while still having plenty of space. Perfect place for a family or group with all the bedrooms and bathrooms. The house and the location were both so relaxing - stepping out into the garden in the morning and just being in the countryside was wonderful. Also, Ruth is an excellent property manager - onsite but in a separate building with great communication when we needed. We will definitely be booking again!

A Fabulous experience
A great place to stay with American friends and family. Unusual for a property of the age and size to have such versatile accommodation and lots of bathrooms/WC’s would definitely rebook. VRBO though slow to communicate ( not owner)

Beautiful property, very clean and spacious
My family and i had a great stay, 6 adults 4 children aged 1-8. Stunning property very peaceful. Only a 20 min drive to other great places of interest like Brighton and Lewes. Great games shed for the children. I would Highly recommend this property

Booking process good & reassured by responses from host Ruth prior & upon arrival. Option to chill in house & garden with walls in local countryside, walk to enjoy visit at the local Vineyard & great food at the Ginger Fox just up the lane.

Parents 50th Wedding Anniversary
We stayed at the property to celebrate my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary- the house was fantastic and perfect for our celebrations. Lots of room but still very cosy with a lovely fire. The house is in a beautiful countryside setting - however Brighton is only 20 mins in the car and there are some lovely local pubs.

Perfect Christmas Getaway
We wanted a home for our 3 families from different parts of the globe, and this house was the perfect place with enough space for us all. Lovely house in beautiful surroundings
This is a beautiful property and we had an amazing weekend. House seems bigger than the photos suggest, with plenty of room for everyone. I had a few questions before arrival that Ruth was very helpful with. Upon arrival we had an unfortunate situation with lots of wasps in the house, but Ruth explained they had just recently got rid of some wasps nests, so hopefully that will be resolved for the next guests. Would definitely return here for another weekend break

Ideal for family holiday
Large character property which was ideal for our family holiday. It catered for all ages from 0 to 65! Owners were nearby and resolved minor niggles quickly and with no fuss. Stronger Internet signal would of been helpful. Definitely recommend.

Lovely place in the country
This is a lovely home in beautiful countryside. Very spacious with lots of bedrooms / bathrooms so people have plenty of space/privacy. Beautiful garden and nice walks along footpaths nearby. Hosts were very kind and thoughtful. The family definitely wants to say here again. Wifi was in and out, not consistent enough to handle zoom/webinars etc but there is a country club nearby you can use.

Lovely weekend in West Sussex
Ruth had email problems so that's the only reason I marked down the comms ratings. The Mill is a beautiful house in beautiful countryside. The 10 of us had to stay in all Saturday due to heavy rain but had a lovely day playing games and chatting (and eating and drinking). On Sunday we went for a windy but lovely walk on the Devil's Dike (I've had to spell this incorrectly as Vrbo doesn't allow the correct spelling with a "y" !!) and had a superb lunch at the Royal Oak pub in Poynings. Also recommended are Alison and Sean's lovely reception and food at the Duke of York in Sayers Common

Lovely property, fabulous setting, so much space
So pleased I found this property, perfect size for a family group. Owners friendly and helpful. The welcome basket was a lovely touch. It was comfortable and like a family home, perfect with children so not on tenterhooks the whole time. All the outdoor space and equipment. Refound my table tennis skills. Highly recommend this property

Spacious house & lovely grounds
We really enjoyed our stay at The Mill. We were very fortunate with the weather and so were able to make good use of the huge grounds playing croquet and cricket and enjoying drinks and dinner outside. (There's a good sized gas bbq.) Inside the house is well equipped, the bedrooms are a good size and there are lots of bathrooms, so no squabbling over who gets to shower first. The location of the house suited us perfectly. There's lot of well signposted footpaths nearby to explore the countryside and it was a 20 min drive to the seaside. We would recommend a visit to Albourne vineyard which is about a 10 min walk from the house; the staff were very friendly and we enjoyed trying their various wines. The food at the nearby Ginger Food is excellent and the farm shop at Rushfields has an extensive selection of groceries including a butchery for bbq supplies. It was a shame to leave.

Home from home
A beautiful garden with barbecue and outdoor setting and a field perfect for playing soccer on plus table tennis table meant we had plenty to keep us all happy! Comfortable house for a large group and with delightful owners (just as well cos they live right next door!).

A few points
Strange set up of tv - located on top of wood burner so when we wanted to lite the fire we had to take tv off of fire. Tv was strapped on. Grubby in places and oven needed a clean. As we were there in December would have been nice to have a Xmas tree. Lack of mirrors in bedrooms

Thank you for your comments Jeanette, It is such a shame you didn't mention any of your concerns to me while you were staying here so I could address any issues for you. Just to go through some points. The focal point of the lounge is the fireplace and the furniture is arranged to make the most of the beautiful inglenook. In the information we send you in advance of your arrival we ask that you let us know if you wish to light the fire so that we can supply you with logs and move the TV. When you requested it on your arrival we brought you the bag of logs and kindling and your group seemed happy to oblige with the TV seeing my husband had his leg in plaster! With regards the Christmas tree, we normally put up our Christmas tree around the 11th/12th December and not the first week of December, that way it is still looking great for our guests staying over Christmas and the New Year period. With regards the mirrors, we have had many brides and bridesmaids get ready for their big day at our house and we have received numerous comments on how many mirrors there are for them all to prepare! We have had so many amazing reviews and lovely comments from guests over the past six years that your review has come as a complete surprise.

An amazing weekend for my nieces wedding. This property is beautiful and in a lovely position to stay for family occasions. Lots of bathrooms, comfy beds. Lovely grounds. Great place for a weekend with friends
A lovely house with plenty of space and in a very pretty setting. The house is well equipped and the owner was very helpful. The only small downside was no WiFi connection even when owner tried to help by providing a booster. Would recommend as a great place to stay

It was lovely to have Sue and family stay here during her daughters wedding, they were charming guests, very friendly and a pleasure to have staying here. It was unfortunate that our internet was down during their weekend stay here, it is the first time we have not had internet during a guest's stay. Fortunately we do have 4G coverage in this location. We would welcome Sue back any time and highly recommend them as guests.

Prachtig huis in een prachtige omgeving.
Het huis staat op een prachtig landgoed. De tuin is groot en bevat heel wat mogelijkheden. Het huis is al wat ouder maar toch heel netjes onderhouden en bevat alle comfort. De kamers waren ruim met elk een eigen nette en grote badkamer. We hebben heerlijk geslapen in de zachte bedden. In de buurt zijn heel wat mooie dingen te ontdekken. Een echte aanrader om de buurt te verkennen.

A beautiful house, very well equipped, in a beautiful setting, with delighful hosts.
This "cottage" - actually a superb six bedroom mansion - is an ideal location for our extended weekend of family reunion. Although it looks old and delightful, and is in a supberb country location, the accommodation was very modernised, and everything available to ensure that the weekend will be remmebered for years to come. It's only 30 minutes from Gatwick, and there are lots of amenities within easy reach. We recommend the Ginger Fox pub for superb food,and the Crossways Fish and Chips in Hurstpierpoint. If you have young children, as we diid, the extensive grounds were great to run around in, with animals in the nearby fields, and all the children (from 1 year old to 45!!) enjoyed Washbrook Farm nearby.as a real treat. Our hosts were extremely helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. We made a brilliant choice!

Fabulous family wedding weekend
Had a great family weekend for our daughters wedding held close-by The house was just perfect for those of us staying here. Ruth was available if we needed her and came to our rescue when the car transporting the bride needed cleaning. (she didn't clean it, but provided us with cleaning materials, bucket and hoover!) Thank you Ruth, we most definitely would like to come again at some time to chill out and explore the countryside.

Beautiful home in a beautiful location
We stayed here with several members of our family as our daughter was getting married nearby. What a lovely place it is, so much room for an extended family and great for summer barbecues for a few more still! A spacious house with excellent facilities, in a lovely setting.
This was a perfect choice of venue for our family to celebrate a special birthday and a 20th wedding anniversary. A wonderful property in an outstanding location
We have just spent a wonderful weekend in this very attractive house. We were a family of 10 spending time together to celebrate our Golden Wedding. The house has everything you need to enjoy meals together, great inside and outside space to relax in and plenty of activities for the grandchildren aged 10,9,7 and 5. Everything you need for a family getaway. Beautiful large house with charming character!
My family (8 of us - 5 adults and 3 kids) visited Ruth's beautiful home for a few days for a family get together. The house is beautiful and full of charm and character, and was more than enough room for the 8 of us! It was great to all have our own bathrooms too. It has everything you need for a family and lots of toys and space for the kids to run around outside. The area itself is beautiful too. We'd definitely be back. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

We had a lovely, relaxing weekend celebrating with extended family a family birthday.
A beautiful house with a warm, homely feel. The owners have thought of everything, the kitchen has all the equipment you could possibly need. There are board games and outdoor games to suit every age and taste. The house and furnishings are beautiful and the location excellent. We enjoyed a lovely day in nearby Brighton and a walk around the local area.We loved looking out over the beautiful gardens. We would thoroughly recommend this as a wonderful holiday retreat and would like to return ourselves one day. We also appreciated the welcome pack of local cheeses, cake and wine. A perfect house for a family holiday or celebration large enough for all to feel free.
We used the cottage for a family celebration weekend and it proved to exceed our expectations. The weather meant we could be outside most of the time enjoying the large garden and all the lawn games including all weather table tennis. The large adjoining field was perfect for rounders and a large outside table made a perfect breakfast/lunch spot with BBQ. Plenty of indoor games too should they be needed. We were going to explore the area around the cottage but as my sister said 'it is too nice here to go anywhere else' so we didn't! I cannot comment on other things to do in this part of the world. But for the hostess the kitchen was just right and refrigerator large enough for all the beer, wine, champagne and food for 10. Beds comfy, views to the garden lovely and each couple had their own en suite which meant we all felt unhindered by 'queues'! A welcome pack of goodies by Ruth and her care and her care and attention was absolutely in character for a wonderful stay. Thank you....only the wifi was a problem for the younger members of the house party but they soon got over that! Thoroughly recommend the cottage we were sad to leave.

Gorgeous, comfortable house with character
We had a hugely successful family gathering in this wonderful house of Ruth's. Very generous welcome pack and fresh flowers on our arrival. No need for sharing of bathrooms which made it convenient and private. The large grounds provided great opportunities for games and BBQ- and for just sitting outside enjoying the scenery and listening to the birds.hope very much to return. Thanks Ruth :-)

Charming cottage ideal for large family party
Charming and beautiful cottage with huge garden for children oldies alike to play table tennis and ball games of all sorts. We would certainly go back to Ruth's again.
