In response, the shower works perfectly it just needed turning on at the required isolation switch outside the bathroom, a large orange switch clearly marked shower. The washing machine worked perfectly this morning when I used it. So not sure why the guests couldn't get it to spin. The guests didn't mention either of these issues until they were leaving despite having my phone number and indeed I was working in the shop below the flat all the stay and we saw each other in passing several times. The kitchen surfaces and floor, the bathroom and toilet are thoroughly cleaned after every guest with strong bleach solution along with all the heavily touched fittings such as door handles and light switches.
