Lots of potential - sweet, good location, dogs
Communication in advance and check-in were great. Local tips were good. Breakfast was good. The owner was very flexible when it comes to breakfast times - also he is super friendly Not so good: - the house is a dog house, cute but smelly - the carpet in the room was full of hair - the owner did an extra cleaning, which didn’t help much. This carpet needs proper cleaning after having been the target of a guest’s dog for one week - the pool is small but sweet, unfortunately there is quite a significant amount of dog poo on the lawn - the breakfast room smells of dogs, the dog pee as well - unfortunately the owner cannot be reached in between (we wanted to borrow the offered beach blankets and had no chance to find them nor him) Recommendation: please do your homework- cleaness is a hygiene factor

Tim, it is not about the dog, it is just about being personal. You are not sincere. You asked us to keep the dog in the dining room as your girl friend wanted to play with it and cuddle it. Normally the dog is not at all in the guest area. This is absurd. You wanted the dog to be close and then you are complaining. You were highly demanding guests when it came to entertainment, special arrangements and so on. Nothing was sufficient. And now you are writing bad reviews on as many websites as possible. According to my opinion this is just mean and backstabbing. Mentioning some good things is just your excuse for badmouthing. Mainly considering the fact that I even shared more personal information as you were one of these guests insisting in mixing up private and business. The carpet was not full of hair. Although the complaint was not justified at all, I vacuum cleaned it again. There is no dog poo at all in the garden. May you do not know how it looks like. Yes, we do not have 24h reception service. If you want that, you must book in a hotel and pay more. Marc

Die beste Unterkunft während unserer Rundreise
Das AmaKhosi Guesthouse war die beste Unterkunft während unserer 2 1/2 wöchigen Rundreise. Im Ort gab es Unruhen und alle Restaurants hatten geschlossen. Daraufhin wurde vom Besitzer kurzentschlossen eine Fahrt mit allen Gästen zum nächsten Supermarkt organisiert und wir durften die Küche benutzen. Wirklich ein super Service. Besonders erwähnenswert ist auch das Frühstück - eben nicht nur "englisch".

Nice property just on the edge of town
This is a clean and comfortable guesthouse with large rooms and bathrooms and a lovely wall courtyard outside of town. Breakfast is cooked to order- eggs and bacon or cereals and yoghurts. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The property is secure. I would stay here again.

Super außer die Nachbarshunde
Es war alles super, Zimmer und Pool war sauber, leckeres Frühstück, geräumiges Zimmer. Leider waren in der Nachbarschaft (direkt) sehr viele Hunde, die non-stop gebellt haben - leider auch spätabends und frühmorgens...

Very nice rooms and nice people
There are very nice people an a very tasty breakfast. The Hotel is a bit outside the center, so you have to use a taxi or own car to come to the center. The ocean is very close. Leider muss man zum Stadtzentrum ein Taxi nehmen oder mit dem eigenen Auto fahren.

Schönes Guesthouse, nur der Eigentümer hat keinen guten Eindruck hinterlassen. Nachdem wir unsere Koffer nach Check-out den Tag über bei ihm ließen, um noch die Gegend etwas zu erkunden, machte er uns trotz mehrfachen klingelns einfach nicht mehr auf, als wir die Koffer um 8 Uhr Abends abholen wollten. Gottseidank kamen andere Gäste dann an, da war dann der Eigentümer auf einmal doch zu Hause... Er meinte dann, dass man bei einem Guesthouse nur innerhalb seiner Check-In Zeiten erwarten könne, jemand anzutreffen. Aber mutwillig jemanden stehen lassen, ist einfach das Allerletzte und zeugt von schlechtem Charakter. Ansonsten eine nette Unterkunft.

Wohlfühlaufenthalt in Südafrika
Das beste Guesthouse unter deutscher Leitung, tolles Frühstück vom liebevoll gedeckten Tisch bis zum Service, vielen Dank Marieke. Schöner gemütlicher Garten..... einfach toll auch für längeren Aufenthalt absolut empfehlenswert.

Wir hatten leider nur 2 Nächte dort, der Vorort ist sehr sicher, die Gastgeber super hilfsbereit und zuvorkommend (Ausflüge und Abendessen haben sie uns reverviert und bestätigt). Der Pool ist stylish und die Zimmer in einem guten Zustand, wir kommen wieder!

REMARKABLE
AmaKhosi Guesthous is a very nice place with cosy atmosphere, comfortable, lovely rooms, a very nice garden and with wonderful breakfast. The hosts were very engaged and helpful. Absolutely a place to return to and we will highly recomend AmaKhosi. A bit difficult to find, not Long Street Hermanus city center but Long Street 10 min. away from center. However the hosts had informed us in advance but we did not notice the message. When we arrived we got positively surprised.

Nous sommes restés une nuit à Hermanus, à AmaKhosi Guesthouse. Accueil francophone irréprochable, chambre agréable. A quelques minutes du centre d'Hermanus. Nous le conseillons, mais sachez que vous ne verrez pas les baleines depuis votre lit

Choice of continental buffet and/or full English breakfast was quality setting us up for the day. Very convenient location for remote beaches and whale watching. Helpful staff gave local knowledge of country markets we would not have found.

In a quieter area of town close to the beach.
From the moment we arrived until we left the lady (don't remember her name) taking care of us from check in, giving us information on things happening close by, serving us breakfast right up until we checked out was very friendly and always had a smile. Very warm welcome. The room was very large and spacious with its own private balcony. The very large bathroom had a stand alone shower and a bath. The room was very clean as was the whole house and property. The WIFI worked perfectly in the room. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely recommend it. It was on a residential street away from all the traffic and noise of the city center. 10 min walk to the beach and a lovely beach walk on a paved walkway.

Please check the address. It actually is 19 Lang St Sandbaai, really close to Hermanus. The house is really beautiful in a quiet area, comfortable and clean rooms. It is perfect for sleeping and then go around the area for the activities. I will stay again here in my next trip!

Hôtel situé pas très loin du bord de mer mais assez éloigné de Hermanus. Nous avons moyennement apprécié le confort de la chambre car, alors que nous avions réservé pour 4 personnes, nos deux filles de 15 ans se sont retrouvées à dormir dans un petit canapé convertible très inconfortable.

Wir haben im März 2013 eine Nacht im Amakhosi Guesthouse verbracht. Leider liegt das Guesthouse etwas abseits von Hermanus, sodass man abends noch einmal mit dem Auto losfahren möchte, wenn man in die Stadt hinein will. Die Fahrt dauert allerdings nur wenige Minuten. Ansonsten gibt es an dem Guesthouse überhauptnichts auszusetzen. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Frühstück war in Ordnung. Das Zimmer war super - im Erdgeschoss mit direktem Zugang zu Terasse und Pool.

Not in downtown Hermanus
The address for this guest house was quite misleading as it was NOT at 17 Long Street in Hermanus, but 17 Long Street in Sandbaai, a community west of Hermanus, although near the ocean, it is some distance off the main Garden Route highway. http://www.hermanus-guesthouse.com/en/hermanus-guesthouse/map-directions.php. Thanks to our having a cell phone for South Africa, we were able to contact the very helpful owner even late in the evening and got street by street directions to her place. Please clarify the location more clearly for future guests. Also note that some rooms are upstairs and there is no elevator. The breakfast selection was very good and the made-to-order hot breakfast was great.
