Historic Cottage with a Lake View
This charming old-world cottage provided a comfortable space to relax and re-connect with family and friends. We particularly loved the view of Lake Macatawa and watched a dingy 'Snipe' regatta with our morning coffee. The short walk to the 'singing sands' is the real reason to come here; magnificent and majestic Lake Michigan.

Great location and host
The house, in all of its 1890’s glory, has an awesome view of the lake! The screened porch is fabulous. The house is nearly all original and virtually unchanged but has new central a/c and heat. Historic house buffs will love this property. Great location for hiking, biking, boating and swimming. The host is incredibly friendly and very promptly responds to any issues you might have (our “issues” were too trivial to mention.)

Cottage Stay at Ottawa Beach
I grew up spending summers at a cottage in Ottawa Beach, so renting Jim's place was a beautiful step back in time! Thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful location. The front porch view is truly magnificent! Jim was available if needed, but everything was perfect, so not even necessary. Would love to stay again - thank you, Jim!

Excellent property manager and great location
The property manager was so courteous and promptly responded to all our questions. And it helped that he lives one house down the street. We loved the house and the location. We can’t wait to get back to the same house again on our next vacation

Delightful in Every Way!
We had a lovely week in Michigan with our family in this beautiful time capsule of a home. Jim is an incredible host who has lovingly appointed each room. Beds are very comfortable. AC works wonderfully. Kitchen is small but well appointed-and there are plenty of spaces to sit and eat. The crowning glory is the screened front porch. Cool and breezy even on hot days. I can't say enough good about this cottage and host. We will be back!

We will be back!
This stay was all about the front porch and great access to the beach! We had a 2 year old and an infant, so the porch was a perfect place for the adults to be once bedtime rolled around. James was a very kind and accessible host. The cottage itself is a bit rustic, but it suited our needs. The location is truly perfect- everything you need is within walking distance. Logistically, I would say this house works best for one family given the single bathroom. The shower could use a little updating but it worked for us.

Incredible porch and view!
This is a unique opportunity to experience an historic house in a lovely lovely spot. The cottage has been well-maintained and retains its original feel. The kitchen is older but we were able to cook our meals for four with no issue. The porch is the star of the show and why we rented the house in the first place. We spent hours out there with our summer reading and meals. We also enjoyed the hike up to Mount Pisgah and, of course, the wonderful Ottawa beach. It was so nice to be able to walk to the beach and leave car worries behind. It helps one get into the vacation groove. Holland has much to discover — park amenities like pickle ball courts, for instance — but truth be told we let ourselves unwind on the porch most of the time.

Peaceful cottage with wonderful porch and view
We had fun but Not a lot to do in the immediate area. The cottage had lots of vintage furniture that was quaint but not very comfortable for late evening lounging. We also had some trouble with mice.

Great location, views, and host
We (7 of us ranging in age from 2 - 69) thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is surprisingly large and retains the characteristics and charm of a turn of the century beach cottage. It is within easy walking distance of the General Store, Dune Dogs, and the beach. While at the house, we spent most all of our time on the large screened front porch overlooking the harbor. It was everything we hoped for in a vacation rental.

Views, Convenience, and Clean!
We stayed for a week with two kids (6, 3). The owner was super friendly and helpful to kick things off. Cottage was exactly as the pictures showed. Easy walk to the beach. We loved the view from the screenroom, it was great to have our meals out there and enjoy. Everything was clean and well kept up. Had a lot of charm. The shower was a little small (I'm tall) but not unusual for an older home. Would definitely look to stay here again.

Wonderful place
This Ottawa Beach home is truly magnificent. Beautiful view, wonderful porch and cool host. (Jim) Walking distance to the Holland beach, restaurants, ice cream and general store. There is a boardwalk with docks for fishing right in front of the house along with a state marina for anyone with a boat. Awesome vacation.

We lived on the amazing screened porch!
My family enjoyed the amazing views of Lake Macatawa from the house and porch. It was an easy walk to a very nice Lake Michigan beach (very big compared to many). The house is older but well kept and clean. My family would recommend this house to other families. This was the perfect location for morning and evening walks along the water.

Lovingly maintained historic cottage with excellent views and location!
Our family had a wonderful stay at this property! It is very well represented in the photos and description. The owner has lovingly restored and maintained the late 1800's charm. Cottage is very clean and basic amenities are provided. Linens, plenty of bath towels, coffee maker, etc. We spent tons of time enjoying the screened front porch with views of the lake and boats. Wonderful! We loved this cottage for its location!!! The General Store is just steps away. So is the boardwalk. We utilized the historic cottage neighborhood walkways to go to the beach. That was a treat! No busy traffic and much fewer people. There were a couple of fawns and deer and some other wildlife that were along the way. If you are interested in history it is worth investigating the interesting background of these cottages and Ottawa beach. Check-in process was easy and the owner was readily available from time of reservation to check-out. We look forward to another stay at this lovely property!

Wonderful sister trip
Very quaint cozy cottage with magnificent views of the harbor! Within walking distance to the beach, general sore and Mt. Pisgah! Jim was an excellent host and very accommodating to our needs! I look forward to coming back again with my four sisters!
