The trains have a long history in our neck of the woods, and while they can be a welcome sight during the day, when they roll through overnight it can be a different story for lighter sleepers. We’re happy to move guests to a room on the other side of the building when available, and we also have free earplugs available at front desk. Additionally we off plug in fans at front desk to help on those warmer nights.

Our housekeeping team work very hard to keep up high levels of cleanliness, and all shower curtains are frequently cleaned and/or changed out.Whilst we are a budget accommodation in the Jasper townsite, our team frequently does their best to make guests stays that are celebrating a special occasion feel special. I have looked through our systems and wasn't able to find a pre-arrival note mentioning your birthday. When our property was built, Parks Canada limited the amount of parking space we were able to have onsite. This was in order to retain as much of the surrounding natural beauty as possible. Just a short two minute walk from the hostel is a large, well-lit RV parking lot that is free to park at. When our lot fills up, we refer our guests to this one. There is unfortunately a very small section to walk that can be dark at night. With Jasper being the world's second largest dark sky preserve, the town does it's best to avoid more light pollution and the lack of street lighting for that short section isn't something that we can control.I hope that despite your issues with your stay, that you were able to enjoy the beauty all around Jasper National Park.

Thank you for your review James, we are happy you enjoyed your stay with us.   We do all we can in the hostel to keep it cool, but those rare hot summer days are indeed much more enjoyable outside! We encourage guests to leave room windows closed with blinds drawn during the day, and open them at night when temperatures drop.
