Significant Health and Safety Issues at “Living the Dream” Property
I recently rented a property from “Living the Dream” via Vrbo and need to share my experience for the benefit of future guests. While the property’s location and basic amenities initially seemed promising, our stay was marred by critical health, safety, and service issues. 1. Health Concerns: I had a severe asthma attack during my stay, necessitating an emergency room visit. The rental’s internal environment made it particularly difficult to breathe, indicating possible air quality problems. 2. Termite Infestation: We found unmistakable signs of a termite infestation, including wings and other indicators. Despite promptly reporting this to the host, the response was inadequate and the issue remained unresolved. 3. Lack of Host Responsiveness: The host’s response to our concerns was disappointing. Key amenities like the microwave and TV were broken, significantly affecting our ability to fully utilize the property. Despite reporting these issues, they were not addressed during our stay. 4. Communication with the Host: Our communications were through Vrbo, but the responsiveness and action from “Living the Dream” were below expectations, especially concerning the health and safety issues. 5. Overall Experience: The combination of health risks, safety concerns, and lack of responsiveness significantly impacted our experience. It is imperative that “Living the Dream” address these issues to ensure the wellbeing and satisfaction of future guests. This review aims to provide

Stay in a hotel - not worth the money. :(
The Pros: - super comfy beds - very easy check-in process - great location, just a mile from the Farmers Market - plenty of parking - will allow events, for a fee, with proper communication - allows dogs with proper communication The Cons - exterior seriously needs to be pressure washed; super dingy - located on a very busy/loud street - they charge hundreds of dollars per day extra to heat the jacuzzi/pool on top of the daily rate - There’s no way to keep the jacuzzi warm without also heating the pool, so you either have a lukewarm jacuzzi for two hours while you wait for it to heat up, or if you ask for it to be kept warm so you can dip in and out over the weekend, it heats the entire pool to bathtub temperatures and you can’t have a cool swim. - on top of that, you have to text their concierge to turn the heat/jets on/off remotely. That seems like a nice touch, but the remote access doesn’t always work, so you may wake up to a boiling hot swimming pool or an ice cold jacuzzi. - the neighboring property has some sort of security device which beeps loudly, constantly, all night. - it’s been a week and a half since checkout, and they’re STILL holding my security deposit. When I asked about it several days after checkout, they said they hadn’t completed the inspection yet. When I pointed out that I can’t be held liable for an inspection done days after checkout, they backpedaled and said I’d be getting my deposit back “shortly.” That was a week ago.

Perfect Stay
This was the perfect property for a getaway of 8 girls. It was clean and had everything we needed. The property management group was quick to respond although I had some trouble figuring out what to expect the day before we arrived because no one had contacted me yet. I had to find the property management group to confirm someone would be helping us check in when we arrive the next day. Our property manager was very quick to respond to a few small technical issues we had and everything was fixed immediately. I would stay here again.

Nice property within 20 min walk of LACMA/La Brea Tar Pits
The house looks unassuming from the outside but is well furnished inside. It has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (1 in the main bedroom, one in the hallway) and a big kitchen. The big pool house in the back can function as another bedroom (though there is no additional bathroom) and fits 4 beds. The backyard pool is perfect for the kids and the grill makes it convenient for DIY dinners. Trader Joe's, Whole Paycheck, and the Original Farmers Market are only 10 minutes away by car. All in all, a great base for your LA stay.
