Plum Ridge Farm exceeded our expectations.
The house was spacious and uniquely decorated with local furniture and art. Each bedroom had its own TV, memory foam mattress, cozy quilt and numerous comfortable pillows.
Both common areas had adequate seating and we enjoyed the no hassle remote controlled gas fireplace. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare and serve our Thanksgiving meal.
Outside the house is a big firepit stocked full of chopped wood with seating for 4 and beautiful rolling hills where you can walk down to the pond or up to the barn to watch the cows. Additionally, the wrap around porch had numerous hanging seats where you could just take in the views.
The small town of Taylorsville had everything we needed for the week. Country Mart is the local grocery store and Cox’s had the best prices on liquor including some bottles of bourbon that are impossible to find in other areas of the country (e.g., Buffalo Trace). We dined out once for dinner at the Silver Cup Bourbon Bar and Grille. If you want more sophisticated restaurant options, keep driving to Louisville.
Finally, we had the good fortune to meet the owner of the property while he was working across the pond renovating another house for rental. He shared some of the most delicious country ham with us and provided the histories of the 3 homes on site. He was a very talented craftsman and artist by looking at this restoration and many of his paintings. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
