We stayed here because it was a 40 minute drive to Carlsbad and it had a kitchen. Once we arrived we realized that this place is generally used to those working in the nearby oil fields. The room we were in would have been perfect for one person. It was very tiny for my husband and I and our son. We didn’t manage to fit a twin sized air mattress on the ground.
Pros: it was clean, updated (or new), and quiet. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Lots of ice available for our cooler. Parking was close and there was plenty of it. Bed was comfy. The kitchen was simple but I could do the cooking I needed. The fridge worked great.
Cons: very small room and it was lacking some of the things you generally find in a hotel. If you add these, our stay would have been nearly perfect. Some suggestions:
End tables on each side of the bed with a desk lamp. More options to plug in phones and devices.
A small table or something in the bathroom to put items on.
Additional plates, cups, and silverware. When we arrived late at night we found only one fork, spoon, and knife. Two plates, bowls, and cups. We were able to get more silverware the following day. Having at least four of each item would have been helpful.
