Tired, under occupied and felt a shadow of what it used to be. Bar closed early, restaurant very average and reception staff unhelpful, asking for £80 for a 2 hour check out extension when the hotel was almost empty.

Un passage obligatoire ! Seul petite deception dans la chambre : 1 adulte, 2 ados : le troisieme lit n est pas un vrai lit mais un sofa ... un peu petit pour un ado de 17 ans ! On a dû negocier pour en avoir un plus grand avec matelas et qui au final etait grincant ... on a mis le matelas au sol ( seule deception piur un hotel 5 etoiles). Tout le reste etait formidabllleeeee

The hotel is ok, but service levels are lousy. In particular, my experience at the Luma Bar was atrociously bad. After waiting for 20 minutes for any kind of service, I got fed up and ordered a drink from the bar. Then after they brought me the (correct) order, a few minutes later another waiter came over and asked me if I’d started drinking it, in a weirdly accusing way. I don’t know if he thought I’d been given someone else’s drink, or if there was something else going on. In hindsight, the vibe was such that someone could even have contaminated the drink (seriously - it was weird - I should have walked out). Then there was a stupid debate about the bill. I’ve never been in an alleged 5-star hotel where you couldn’t just charge it to the room. The guy could have just checked, but instead he started arguing about it. And in the end I charged it to the room anyway. So I’ll never return, and my recommendation would be you don’t go either.

Loved the surroundings, the gardens, the activities and how close it is to Pilanesberg. Breakfast was amazing. Well worth it. Grill room at the palace. Amazing food. Disliked the Greek restaurant. Food was not up to standard.

We had a dreadful check in, my worst check in ever. Upon arrival the reception notified us that the System cancelled our booking, after travelling for more than 10 hours, being tired already, this was not good news. The manager was called, no sympathy, not re-assurance, the were just busy on the phone and on the system the whole time, we showed them our confirmed and paid booking and we also show our bank statement where the money was deducted. After an hour of standing around, not knowing what is happening, they finally gave us a room. No compensation, no sympathy, nothing. Room was very nice, large, great bathroom, but the bathroom is just a bit smelly, we did report it. Nice TV with various channels. Breakfast was amazing, but all staff at the Cascades are unfriendly, which was not nice. Would rather stay at one of the other places in future.

The stay was good but the rooms are becoming dated and old. Some items were slightly damaged and some of the pool side day beds were really old. The place needs a revamp. Doubt I would book the Cascades again.

Great stay, rooms are first class, beds and pillows super coomfy. Breakfast is first rate, and if undecided..go for it and skip lunch. Huge array of hot and cold, fresh pastries and smoked salmon ( Lax)

Unfortunately not a 5-star experience
Although the hotel was fine, it appeared rather dated with very slow elevators and the value for money is questionable. Rooms were clean, but the service all over the property were not really up to standard for a 5 star hotel. Check-in was slow and and the Gatsby Spa did not change our booking as requested telephonically, so we ended up not going at all.

The mediocrity
The hotel is in need of a facelift. The rooms are comfortable but not 5*. There is a palpable lack of management presence. Breakfast on Saturday was very chaotic. Having to rely on waiting staff to bring milk for cereal and coffee is a terrible idea. There are not enough of them. Check in was slow on Friday evening. The staff just don't seem to have any basic manners. They are constantly shouting at one another and ignoring customers. A bit of basic etiquette. That isn't to say that they are malicious or intentionally rude because one on one each of my interactions was positive. In general though there is a disconnect between the star rating and the general service level. You should not have to ask to have things done at a 5* hotel. The staff should know to take bags to rooms, service rooms, notify customers when there is a water problem... etc.

Large, clean, very nice room...zero complaints...until you open the drapes. ONLY get a high floor. We were on the third floor (lobby level) and the view was garbage. Dirty grounds, hoses everywhere, really nasty for the price. They should greatly reduce the rates on lower floors...I would have gladly paid more to be higher. Again, great room but get above the horrific view.

What was once an impressive 5-star hotel is now a disappointing experience. Lack of investment means it is very dated. Only one out of three lifts working most of the time. Sun International should be ashamed. This does not represent a 5-star hotel.

Dear Valued Guest Thank you for choosing to stay at the cascades hotel and for the below constructive feedback after your recent stay with us. I am happy to share with you that we had listened to all our guests complains regarding the status of the hotel as most guests have voice that the hotel is dated and needs some upgrade and resurrection. Kindly note that we are currently busy with the refurb we have since completed 4 levels from the 1st and 2nd phase refurb, we will be completing the rest now in 2020.We are busy changing the look at feel of our rooms softs furniture, rooms carpets and corridor carpets. With regards to the elevators, please be advised that we have had numerous issues with our lifts since the storm damages in December and our technician have been working around the clock to keep our lifts running however some of the parts have to be imported or brought from Johannesburg hence our breakdowns take longer. The company has decided to replace the old lifts with brand new lifts which will be enclosed in a glass closet to protect the lifts from the rains and storm however still keep the beautiful views of our garden and golf course. I am confident that above will bring Cascades back to its Glory as mentioned below and thank you for your patronage and continuous support.

Friendly and accommodating staff. Beautiful setting around the golf course. Vegetation beautiful and view from window was breathtaking. Breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed our stay.

Obrigado por escolher ficar no hotel cascades e pelos comentários construtivos abaixo após sua recente estadia conosco. Fico feliz em compartilhar com você que ouvimos todas as reclamações de nossos hóspedes sobre o status do hotel, pois a maioria dos hóspedes tem voz de que o hotel é datado e precisa de alguma atualização e ressurreição. Observe que atualmente estamos ocupados com a reforma, desde que concluímos 177 unidades da 1ª fase e, neste ano, prevemos terminar 100 quartos e o restante será concluído em 2020. Estamos ocupados mudando a aparência do nosso ambiente. móveis de quartos macios, tapetes de quartos e tapetes de corredor. Estou confiante de que acima trará o Cascades de volta à sua glória, como mencionado abaixo, e obrigado por seu apoio e apoio contínuo.
