Spring Break Getaway
This house was the perfect getaway for our northwest family. We found a lot of beautiful hikes nearby. We got out and explored Phoenix and Scottsdale for some shopping and food. We spent most of our time at the house lounging by the pool. The fire table was so nice to have in the evenings. Everything was well stocked and comfortable. We will be back!

Great House and great communication!
My family enjoyed our stay at this location. The owners were fantastic to work with and had great communication with clear instructions for checkin and departure. The home is well stocked with everything you need for a great vacation. I would stay here again!

Perfect!
The house and location were perfect for hiking and close to outlet malls and other attractions we were interesting in. The house and yard were clean and well equipped. Jena and Calvin were very responsive and easy to communicate with. We had an amazing stay.

Beautiful home! It had a well appointed kitchen, comfy beds and ultra clean!! Jen and Calin are easy to converse with and checked in a couple times during our stay. Highly recommend the Cactus House!! Five stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

EXACTLY as listed!
What a great experience from booking to check-out! Great communication with the hosts throughout. We even had to "shift" our reservation back a day due to a flight cancellation and they were thankfully able to accommodate us. The property is 100% exactly as described in the listing. Plenty of cacti to look at (don't touch!), a nice outdoor area to relax, sip your favorite beverage and watch the sun set over the mountains. New LG appliances make meal prep easy. The welcome binder has everything you need to know about the property and surrounding area. We had no issues arise during our stay that required contacting out hosts, but I'm certain if there were, they would have been as responsive as they were during the booking process. The pool was too cold for us to use (it is still January, after all), but this was not a surprise as the listing very clearly states that it is not heated. It looks like a very well-kept pool and I'm sure it is great fun during the AZ heat! Located in a very quiet neighborhood, it's a great place to wind down and we will definitely consider it on our next trip to Phoenix!

Absolutely Perfect!
Our long weekend getaway at Jen and Calvin’s was absolutely perfect. The place was very clean, very comfortable, and well appointed. The neighborhood was very quiet and the location was close to the airport, restaurants, and shopping. Our hosts were very responsive and helpful. We’ve added this to our list of favorites and will be back!

Amazing house!!!
This property was excellent for my honeymoon with my wife! We loved the private pool, especially since my wife wears the hijab, and no one could see her swim! The house was spotless, and it had some valuable supplies for cooking and baking. I would return here if I ever needed to stay in Phoniex again!

Moved Youngest Daughter from NJ to AZ, ASU
The Cactus House was perfect for our family as we moved our youngest from New Jersey to Arizona to attend ASU. Conveniently located within fifteen minutes of the campus and within a 1-3 mile radius of any and every store you'll need to find last minute items for your college kid's dorm! IKEA, Target, Home Goods, Costco, Sam's Club, Walmart - you name it- it's close by and worked out well for us. The house is spacious, clean and comfortable and Jen and Calin are very communicative and responsive to anything you might need. Would highly recommend to anyone moving a kid from out of state to ASU!

Lovely South Mountain gettaway.
This house is quite nice for a couple and a family. Our family joined us for about 4 days and we all enjoyed. Beds are comfortable and the amenities are sufficient for a nice visit. My wife and I stayed on and hiked the nearby trails almost daily. The trailhead is accessible with a 15 min walk from the house but there are many other trail sites a short drive away. We all enjoyed the museums (the Musical Instrument Museum is special) and restaurants. Calin and Jen are superb hosts.

Perfect for our Christmas trip
The home had a great location. It was very clean upon arrival and the property owners were very attentive to our questions and needs. Check in and out was simple and we plan to use the home again for future trip to the area.

great location & great home.
overall, this trip was amazing. the hosts were v attentive and checked in a couple times throughout my stay. they were quick to respond when the door code wouldn't work, like lightning speed, lol. the house was perfect. amazing views, lots of space, and amazing backyard space / pool. the house is soooo close to the freeway and close to major shopping locations, so we didn't worry about travel time anywhere. it was not stressful whatsoever. my only concern was the front living room window, which is quite large, didn't have a curtain! so not a lot of privacy from the outside. other than that, everything was great! also, the skylight in the guest bathroom was a trip and now i want a skylight in my house too LOL. thanks again for a great stay!

Excellent choice
A large house in a great area. Very convenient for anything you might require while away but far enough away for plenty of peace and quiet. Great hosts that respond within minutes and are local but are not intrusive in anyway. Very reassuring to know that they are there if you do need assistance though. To be honest, there's not a lot not to like about staying at the cactus house and would recommend it whole heartedly.

Four Day Graduation Weekend
Jen was very accessible for quick questions and reached out to make sure all was as we'd hoped. Nice neighborhood, including the big family of brand new bobwhites living in the massive front yard cactus.

Amazing family getaway!
The house was fantastic for our family of 5. From the first step into the house we knew we were going to enjoy. The house was extremely clean, comfortable beds, plenty of room throughout the home to lounge, though the real gem was the backyard. There is a large pool in the back that was used by our family often, along with a gas fire pit & lounge chairs that were comfortable. You have views of South Mountain and the neighborhood is so quiet, it was very relaxing. The house is so close to the mountain that it was so easy to hike without having to find a parking spots at the trailhead. I do have to mention the owners Calin and Jen, they were accommodating and wonderful to work with. Calin came over after we were settled to explain things and answer any questions we had about the property which was very nice. He sent us so much great information about local restaurants and sites to see. When we did need to ask questions, he was very quick to answer. I would totally recommend this property, you will not be disappointed!

Excellent Everything!
We were SO pleased with our stay at the Cactus House and would absolutely stay again. Calin is the consummate host - always available and so quick to respond - making sure everything is satisfactory and we have what we need. Incredibly clean home, fully stocked kitchen for cooking, comfortable surroundings, and plenty of seating space for larger families. Outdoor setting is unmatched! Chilly (unheated) pool in March, but we are hearty Minnesotans and went in quite a few times regardless. Safe/quiet neighborhood super close to various shopping (grocery/coffee/etc) and access to I-10. You will NOT be disappointed!

Our Winter Escape!
We so enjoyed our month long stay at the Cactus House. The home was better than we expected, and the location was great for local walks / hikes, attractions to visit in the Phoenix area, dining and shopping. Communication with the owner was great too - welcoming and helpful when needed. Thank you!

Cactus house Stay
Host was very communicative and helpful with local attractions and very willing to help in any way pertaining to the property. Everything was clean and well stocked with kitchen/bath supplies. Even seasonings and sugar etc. I would highly recommend this property and would stay again if ever back in the phoenix area. The patio/pool area is great as well!!

Great Getaway
This was the perfect spot for our sisters getaway! Calin was great and very accommodating! I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone traveling to Phoenix! I would suggest renting a car if you plan on exploring the city!

Amazing!
It was a beautiful house! Nice and clean! We used the pool everyday! Took pictures with the different Cacti, and Calin gave us good recommendations to places to visit. We enjoyed the house and Phoenix. We would come back here again, and recommend it to friends and family.

I fell in LOVE with the cactus house!
The house was absolutely beautiful, even more than the pictures! I went with 3 of my girlfriends and it met all our needs! We loved the pool and took advantage of the fire pit. I would definitely stay here again! The host was sooo good! He came over to greet us after we arrived and went over some basic things with us. His communication was great throughout our whole stay! Great Experience & would definitely book again!

Very nice house
Enjoyed our stay. The house was very clean. The owner met us there and gave us information about things to do in area. The neighborhood was quiet. The scenery from the back yard and sounds from nature was very peaceful. Minute things that could be improved; the smokestack above the wood pit is little low. I hit my head several times while using the wood pit. Also, there needs to be a better way of cleaning the ash from the wood/BBQ pit. The water could be a little hotter in the master bedroom. Overall the stay was very nice and would recommend it and possibly stay again.

Very nice people to deal with, always right there if you needed anything.
Nice neighborhood, quite and good for walking around. The restaurant in the area was very good food and gave you plenty to eat. Everything was close by and a neat town.

We had a great time with our stay. Everything was very easy, checking in and also how close it is to the airport and stores/food. The owner was very nice and took time to send me some trip recommendations, which we were able to use on 3 of the days. My kids loved this vacation and so happy to have stayed here. The location was perfect.

Great place to relax and get around to wonderful restaurants
We had a very relaxing, comfortable stay at the cactus house. The owners were awesome. We were able to hike various trails of the south mountain. We were close enough to walk to the trail head from the house. We took our cat who loved to just chill out with us in the walled backyard. Will definitely consider a return visit!!

Two weeks of Relaxation and Perfection
The overall experience was perfect. First, it was spotlessly clean. That was refreshing! The hosts were helpful and easy to contact from the beginning of our reservation all the way to the last day there. It was a quiet neighborhood yet close to stores, dining, shopping, or sightseeing. The Cactus House was perfect, with wonderful spaces, both indoors and outdoors, for visiting with our local family & friends. Walking distance to South Mountain hiking trails was a bonus. Owners Calin & Jen were great to communicate with. We look forward to staying there again!

Beautiful house, amazing pool, great location
We were drawn to this place by the pictures of the beautiful backyard with its fireplace and lap pool, and we were not disappointed! Truly the best private pool I have ever used. The inside of the house is spacious, well laid-out and has just the right touches to make our stay feel special. Importantly, the house stayed cool despite the 110+F weather outside! We definitely recommend this place, the owner is very friendly and helpful, and will stay again if the opportunity arises!

Cactus Delight
The Cactus House is located in a very quiet neighborhood. The home was spotless and spacious. Great location for access to I-10, ballparks, golf, hiking, and shopping. We enjoyed all of those activities during our 2 week stay. Spent a lot of our time while at the home outside on the patio. The view is wonderful. Enjoyed the propane fire pit and grill. Jen and Calin were the perfect hosts. We mentioned we changed to a new tank of propane, and they were at the house within minutes to replace the empty. We definitely recommend this as a perfect place to stay in the desert. We will be back! Bob and Deb

A Beautiful Home With Everything You Need
My wife and I stayed for 1 week in February. The house was beautiful, spacious, and immaculately clean. The king-sized bed was very comfortable even though I often have a bad back! The master bedroom is huge and I loved the open-style walk-in step-down shower in the attached bathroom. After we had enough sitting in the beautiful sunshine by the pool and gazing at the beautiful foothills scenery, we relaxed in the shady Arizona room with a nice cold drink. The outdoor furniture by the outdoor fireplace was very relaxing under the canopy where we enjoyed a night-time fire. Calen & Jen always responded within minutes by email or phone call whenever we had a question. They checked in on us by email soon after we arrived and again a few days in to our stay to see if there was anything we needed. Then again, just before we left, came by personally to say goodbye and ask us if there was anything they could have done differently to make our stay any better……… not a thing! Everything was perfect! Thanks again, Jen & Calen for a wonderful and memorable stay at your place. We’ve stayed at several vrbo (and other) places, and yours was by far the best! We’re pretty sure we’ll be back in Phoenix next year and we’ll be sure to stay at your place again if it’s available (hopefully!)!

Great house
The home was exactly as described. The various cacti species were gorgeous. Best part of the home was the backyard area with the fireplace - great space to hang out and relax during our stay! The only item I would mention, is that you absolutely can not check in before 4. We were on a girls trip, with people coming from different places, so lots of different arrival times. One friend landed around 1:30 Arizona time and the cleaning crew was onsite until 4pm exactly. I've never experienced not being able to check in a little early, but my guess is the house is so awesome that it stays rented 100% of the time so they probably had someone depart the day of our arrival. It was not a huge deal, but something to mention so other travelers can plan accordingly if needed. Owners were so nice and organized - reached out during our stay to verify we had everything we needed which was very thoughtful. The house was immaculate and a short 15-20 minute drive the airport.

Thank you Julianna for your great review. 🙏Referring the check in time we strive to accommodate early check ins if the cleaning crew is finishing earlier than 4pm. Cleanliness is very important to us so after each guest it takes about 4 hrs for the crew to finish regardless how clean the place was left by previous guests. We also try to do thorough inspection to make it as seamless and pleasant check in for the next guest as possible. We had high demand for our property and it booked fully this season so that is why the schedule is tight. We keep very close contact with our cleaning crew and notify guests if they finish earlier. Thank you again for booking with us and we are really happy you enjoyed your stay.

Great house and location, easy to travel to Scottsdale.
House is located in nice neighborhood, beautiful view of South Mountain, close to shopping, restaurants, activities. Biking is good with bike lanes on most roads. Owner was very accommodating, House is spotless and freshly renovated.

Great vacation house
We had a great stay! Jen and Calin are seriously the nicest most accommodating couple. The house was immaculate, had everything we needed. Pool was super clean. Comfy beds, store close by. I really can’t say enough. Highly recommended. Only 10 min from the Talking stick arena and 12 from the airport. You won’t be disappointed

Beautiful Property Close to Phoenix
Ahwatukee Foothills is a fabulous location that is close to downtown and the airport. This lovely house is situated in quiet neighborhood close to hiking trails on South Mountain. The house is very spacious, modern, and well maintained. Wish we could have spent more time outside sitting by the pool; but we did get chance to use the fireplace. The owners were very attentive to our needs. One of the best homes we have stayed in on VRBO.

Adorable House, Great Location
We stayed here for five nights and thoroughly enjoyed our time at the recently-remodeled Cactus House. Calin and Jen were awesome hosts with great communication. My husband was on a business trip and the location was fantastic - close to businesses and hiking trails. What we loved most about this house are the spacious, immaculate rooms with tile floors, comfortable bed in the master bedroom, and the super quiet neighborhood. Other perks include new appliances, spa-like master shower, and a great backyard with seating areas by the pool. The house was perfect and cute to boot. Would we stay here again? You bet.
