Homestead stay
We loved this beautiful old homestead but were disappointed to learn 2 days before our arrival that the spa pool (one of the main reasons we booked) had been out of commission since November 2022. The spa pool was still being advertised on the website after we arrived. We were also asked not to run the heat pump over night - the house very cold in the early morning as there was a cold snap during our stay.

We are very sorry that Karen didn't enjoy her stay. The spa had been removed over a year prior but once we discovered it was still being advertised which was a bookabach error not visible on my dashboard, which was sorted by bookabach eventually. We apologized to Karen and allowed her more than two days to find another holiday house with spa. The house is fully insulated and holds the heat well, there is a Woodburn and electric blankets and Karen ran the heat pump 24/7 therefore I'm surprised she was cold.

Little Piece of Paradise

Great place for pre-wedding photos.
Lovely large house with a farmhouse kitchen at the heart of it. We were able to get some lovely pre-wedding photos with a great backdrop.

Country charm, this place has soul
Philippa was a perfect host. She shared her family home full of history and her garden full of fresh produce. The rooms had elegant proportions, decor, and space. We liked that all 9 of us could sit around a table to eat. The only bit that made us sweat was the location being advertised as Pirionoa and not receiving the precise address until a couple of days before. We planned to bike 10km for a meal at the local pub but were late because the journey was 17km. Maybe you could tweak the location on the property description. Thanks for the stay we loved it.

Fantastic homestead
Made most welcome on arrival. Home beautiful old world charm with vases of flowers to greet us. An absolute beautiful garden with the fragrance of flowers drifting through the doors of the bedrooms. A well equiped home and loved the Dr Who themed shower. The awesome art work a treasure. A fantastic stay

Beautiful homestead which all the family loved as there was plenty of space for the 10 of us.

Very peaceful and relaxing
This home is a great place to get away from it all. Surrounded by lots of mature trees it is very peaceful and has a lovely rustic appeal. Plenty of room for everyone in the big bedrooms and living areas, and the verandah with its outdoor furniture is a lovely place to sit and look out to the Tararuas, enjoying the evening sun. Beds all super comfy with good quality linen. Host very helpful and quick to respond to questions. Thank you Phillipa for a lovely stay.

Fabulous! Quiet with amazing history and ambience
My partner and I eloped to Waihora and had our wedding there. The grounds and house were a perfect backdrop for photos and for relaxing as newlyweds. The fire in the kitchen is awesome and scale of everything is ideal for a group. The bonus of WiFi, Netflix and a spa just adds to the experience. Phillipa is perfect host and we will definitely be back. Thank you.

Lovely cosy farmhouse kitchen
We had a lovely time - group of old friends. Fabulous place and such a great time sitting around in the warmth of the kitchen with the fireplace. The only drawback was the twin room wasn’t quite as spacious looking as the photograph - in fact I think it may have been a different room that had the two singles.

Yes we have changed the layout of rooms over the last two years to what works better. It's still the same number of rooms and beds as shown in the photos. We are constantly trying to improve the house and rooms for our guests.

Gorgeous getaway
Lovely farm homestead about 15 min drive from Martinborough. Something to be conscious of if heading in to town for wine tastings. Suited our needs perfectly, so much space and the sunset is incredible. Listing is true that the tennis court is a little older but fully usable and we had a great time playing until it was dark. Can't wait to come back.

Character filled charm and comfort
Beautiful property, plenty of charm and character while still being really comfortable. High ceilings and spacious rooms. Beds were great. Location suited us perfectly, out in the countryside, very relaxing. Very helpful, generous, communicative hosts. Insect screens meant we could open up doors and windows. Would be even better if the second bathroom could be included in the house properly. Great for large family groups, we had 3 couples and it worked really well. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

A lovely, peaceful stay. Everything provided for in the kitchen, a pretty garden to enjoy from shady verandah seating, lovely bedrooms with sitting areas. Really enjoyed the break from the city in this attractive, relaxing house.

Christmas holiday
A beautiful location, perfect for a few days of total rest and relaxation for the extended family. The house was full of character and provided the plenty of space for our group. We particularly enjoyed the resident sheep and chickens.

Beautiful tranquil spot
Very relaxing and quiet. Even the rooster didn't crow loud! Myself and 7 friends enjoyed the space of the homestead and spent most the time chatting around the large dining table. We were dissapointed with the cleanliness of the kitchen and also the spa pool being out of action. The spa was a big attraction for us all but we couldn't use it sadly.

Family birthday celebrations
Our whole family, Mum Dad, three adult sons and their partners and our grandson had a fabulous weekend here celebrating family birthdays. The homestead is so inviting and relaxing. We shared delicious meals around the kitchen table, cooked on bbq, had tennis tournaments, and soaked in the spa at night. The perfect chilled weekend, and plenty to do nearby if you want to head out to The Pinnacles, the lighthouse, Martinborough for coffee, Lake Ferry etc. Complimentary quince jam and fresh farm eggs for breakfast ! Fun winter family weekend
The weather was wet, but that didn't matter at all. There were books, games, DVDs, a spa and room enough for the kids to play and the adults to chill out with a wine beside the fire. When the rain stopped, we also enjoyed a game of tennis and saying hello to the newborn lambs. We would love to stay again.

Fabulous way to spend a weekend. The teens (even the cynical older ones) had a great time playing tennis, relaxing in the spa and surfing the internet. The back verandah was perfect - even in mid-winter. Phillipa was great!

Perfect break
Had the most wonderful two night stay. It was the perfect place to relax, unwind and reconnect. Teenage boys loved the tennis, croquet and hot tub. We loved huge rooms, lovely linen, roaring fires, well equipped kitchen. Phillipa and Dean were very accommodating hosts. We will be back!

Lovely old farmhouse
We had a really lovely stay in these old farmhouse which beautifully mixes history with modern day comfort. We loved the long wooden table in the kitchen, which just encouraged conversation and meals together. Great hostess as well. Very highly recommended.

Lovely house to stay in
It is always a provilege to stay in an historic house with so much character. This was no exception . Beautiful rooms, really well set up kitchen facitilities so you can cook, and lovely gardens- and tennis court. Highly recommended

Time out
Villa built in the 1800s. Well presented with all comforts. Wonderfully peaceful and restful accommodation. We loved it here. We were a group of 6 but this house can easily take 10 and still feel like there was ample space. Everything is on a big scale from the ceilings to the size of the rooms to the wonderfully large farm house kitchen table. Hosts are great close by but not noticeable. Lovely couple and extremely approachable. The house was Lovely and clean. If you have never stayed in an original villa I would highly recommend. If you are looking for new and modern accommodation you might struggle here. This property was easy to find, loved the tennis court, bbq and how wonderfully cool inside felt when the wairarapa sun was out. Wonderful veranda just perfect for a wine or a book. This property is off the road down a long driveway so very peaceful, only noise would be birds, rooster or cow or sheep, very country.

This property ticked all the boxes for us, four bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, open fire, spa and large living spaces. It is surrounded by beautiful gardens and beautiful countryside. We were provided with fresh free range eggs and some of the kitchen staples on our arrival. Our hosts lived on the premises and this was not a problem at all, we all had our privacy and they were very helpful. All four of us will definitely go back and stay again.

Great rural homestead
Lovely old homestead in lovely relaxing rural setting. Heaps of space inside and out. Perfect for large groups. Well equipped kitchen with a huge dining table for family meals. Coffee machine was a bonus. Owners were very friendly and made us feel very welcome.
