The hotel enjoys an unbeatable beachfront position, easily the highlight of our stay, and the only reason to return for a stay in future. Unfortunately, the property itself feels firmly stuck in the 1970s, think old-school wooden desk genre, with tired décor throughout. It’s in serious need of modernisation.
We stayed in a spacious family room with a sea view and balcony, which was a definite plus. However, cleanliness was lacking. We found a used Blistex lip balm on the floor, not ideal with a toddler around, and there were crumbs behind and beneath the sofa.
Three lightbulbs in the room were either flickering or completely out and had to be replaced during our stay. At our request, the maintenance man also had to create a makeshift handle from a window lock for the minibar fridge, to prevent fingers from getting trapped when opening it.
On the bright side, most of the staff were warm, helpful and accommodating. The exception was the breakfast team, who came across as rather joyless.
For a hotel in this price bracket, especially when compared with international equivalents, the overall standard fell well short and is long overdue a full refurbishment.
That said, the on-site restaurant ‘Pizza On The Beach’ was excellent, well worth a visit, even if you’re not staying at the hotel.
