Love this place. Been several times in their beautiful art gallery of the local artisans and this is my second time staying overnight in Casa Congo. Rooms are great and very comfortable with a porch to looking at the magical bay of Portobelo, an amazing view for a wake-up! Portobelo as a village is a unique spot that didn't change much since going there first in 1984! Very recommended!

Muy decepcionante
- En la habitación había un olor a cloaca permanente - La ducha no tenía agua caliente! (la justificación: “Se nos acabó el gas de la pipeta”) - Un gallo en una casa cercana te despierta a las 5am, tanto si quieres como si no - La luz de hall y el ventilador están conectadas al mismo switch, por lo que es imposible dormir con el ventilador puesto! - La vista desde el baño es a una casa completamente desvencijada, con tuberías externas oxidadas y llena de basura - La hamaca que hay en la terraza no se puede usar durante mucho tiempo debido al fuerte olor a sobaco

Es muy cómodo el hotel, la vista desde la habitación Reina Congo es hermosa y relajante. El lugar me pareció super céntrico si quieres conocer las islas de colon. Me parece que si remodelaran el espacio por donde se entra al hotel, daría valor agregado a la estancia. Si tuviese una pequeña piscina fuese perfecto.

Casa Congo en Portobelo. Bien!
El hotel muy bien, no tiene estacionamiento hay que pagárselo aparte 5 US por noche, el dueño del terreno ( es abierto y a un lado de la carretera) no es nada, nada amable. El pueblo, Portobelo es hermoso pero el confort es básico. El hotel muy bien, aunque de las 3 noches que estuvimos una olvidaron hacer el aseo :( Manuel, “Mayita” en el restaurant y la cocinera, excelentes. La habitación azul, Rey Congo y su vista a la bahía, muy hermosa.

My husband and I Love Portobello, everytime we come to Panama We visit Portobello, but this time We wanted to stay a weekend, I tell you Congo Hotel is a Beautiful and with the personnel excellent, hospitality, smile everytime is just an ***** Star Hotel. A Day in Paradise
I travel to Panama often and every time a stay in Portobelo is a must on my trip! This beautiful historical village, located on the Caribbean seashore is just a couple of hours away from Panama City, is a perfect getaway to nature and peace! I stay in Casa Congo every time when I go there! Great comfortable rooms, beautifully decorated with the works of the local artists, and an amazing view of the bay when you wake up! A picture 1000 words cannot describe! Friendly and efficient team with great hospitality and a great seafood restaurant with the best Puplpo I ate. A beautiful gallery on the ground floor presents local artists work. This time we were 3 people to celebrate our birthday so we booked the apartment in the other building - Casa Rayo Verde! Fully equipped and simply great! Highly recommended!

Pick the right room
I should have asked for a room facing the sea when I booked as myview of a wall was disappointing. Room was also too small for a chair or desk, but fine to sleep in, and stunning art on the walls and even in shower room.

Very friendly staff that helped carry our bags and allowed us in when we arrived at 9:45pm. Rayo Verde had a great breakfast for us each day, as well! It was hard to find accomodations with enough room for the 3x of us in the area, but this room was spacious and we were able to cook our meals in the kitcnen.

Great stay in Portobelo
Very nice place next to the bay. Great service and good food. Note that the terracce can be shared with other guests from neighboring rooms. If you are lucky you get a quiet french couple playng cards, if you are unliucky you may get a spanish couple “working from home without headphones on zoom….

Séjour simple mais agréable à Portobelo
Nous avons dormi dans une chambre double à Rayo Verde, très petite et basique pour le prix, avec des traces de moisissure en bas des murs. Climatisation, mini-frigo et bouilloire, lit confortable et porte ouvrant sur une petite terrasse donnant sur la baie, magnifique. Le signal wifi (code à demander à Casa Congo) est faible ou inexistant à Rayo Verde. La terrasse de Casa Congo où sont servis les petits-déjeuners, est beaucoup plus grande et confortable. Le personnel est sympathique.

Simply Amazing Stay !
Our first impression was how amazing the view from our balcony was of the harbour and shipwrecks. We had our breakfast and dinner each of the 3 days and the food was simply delicious. The hosts spoke both English and Spanish. I highly recommend this location in Portobelo for all travellers.

Beautiful place to stay in a beautiful old city.
This place is just fantastic! All the employees were incredibly helpful & friendly, our room stayed nice and cool as a brief escape from the heat, and they make delicious margaritas at the bar. The city is also a really cool place to discover and if you enjoy pizza, visit Pizzeria La Negra.

Gorgeous Place
This hotel was absolutely wonderful! The aesthetic was spot on! My only two minor complaints are that we had to pay for parking and that the wifi is not unlimited. Not a deal breaker for us, but also not what we expected for the price.

Good place for a day or two max
One of two beds was not good, but hotel changed our room to a better bed, unfortunately we had to share a queen bed, and pay an increase on price. Staff was wonderful Very quiet town Mojito was great, food ok

I was pretty torn on this review... Pros: Room and grounds are clean. Staff is friendly and helpful (They even arranged for someone to pick us up from the hotel for a day trip to one of the islands). Check in and out was quick and easy. Probably the best you can find in Portobelo. Cons: Location! This is definitely a day trip location, everything you “think” you would want to see is within a two block radius. All surrounding area is sad and dirty. (And I am not at all pretentious, I have visited many countries, am adventurous and will look for the off the grid activities, road side food stands, but this was by far the most disappointing) ... the hotel itself has no water/beach access, is Very difficult to find, so don’t go by GPS as once you reach Portobelo you will be looking for streets that do not exist (more like sidewalks). Breakfast was okay. Take away for me was don’t stay in Portobelo, but if you must, stay in Casa Congo.

Séjour près d'une baie très jolie, très animée avec les bateaux taxis, les pêcheurs, les bateaux de plaisance, mais dans un village qui mériterait d'être fortement amélioré au niveau restauration, propreté des rues. Hôtel très correct, mais la propreté de la salle de bains laisse à desirer. Partie restaurant bien, mais ne fonctionne qu' à midi
