Good choice, easy access to Portsmouth main spots
Personal muy atento y gran calidad de servicio. El hotel está bien decorado y la limpieza es destacable. El desayuno debería mejorar con frutas frescas y pastelería aunque la calidad del café es superior a lo habitual en los hoteles. Algo caro para el tipo y categoría del hotel. Friendly staff and high service quality. The decoration and cleanliness is remarkable. Breakfast should improve with fresh fruit and pastries although the quality of coffee is higher than usual in hotels. A bit expensive for hotel category

When we came in from seeing a show at the music hall, we found, to our disgust, a pile of dog poop on the floor. I called the front desk, and front desk person asked me, "What do you want me to do about it?" I had to tell him the options were to have someone come clean it up, or to move us to another room. He said no one could clean anything at that time. At 10:30 at night, we had to pack ourselves up and move to another room. The workers were disinterested in helping us, the place was dirty and run down. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Ascend is not at the top of their game when it comes to customer service and room maintenance. Our first room had faulty plumbing in that we only had hot water at both sink and tub; We were moved to a smaller and less quality room; After complaint we were "upgraded" but that room had a bathroom with an exhaust fan beyond it's serviceable life as it was deafeningly loud. Black mold was noted in failing shower caulking; Room heating/cooling unit was so loud it was difficult to get to sleep. Words of apology was weak and when I cam to the front desk to get a couple bottles of water, the clerk who handled our concerns with little remorse actually charged us $3 per bottle of water one can get at on overpriced convenience store for 99¢. No offer of discount or discount voucher for a future stay was offered. Will not return. The upside of this hotel was that they do offer EV charging at no charge which to me as an EV was a great value...this trip I had my gas vehicle so...

Port Inn? Perfection!
My friends and I head to Portsmouth for a girls weekend once a year after the holidays... trying to find something close to town, not too expensive AND is safe can sometimes be challenging. We loved the quaintness of the pictures and were thrilled when we were able to book 2 separate sleeping areas (one of us snores) LOL! The front desk agent was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, warm, cozy and quiet! Shower was nice and hot, beds were comfy and the walls weren't thin! No need for us to look for a different hotel next year, we know we'll be booking at the Port Inn! Thank you for your wonderful hospitality!

We were looking for a budget friendly convenient property for cultural weekend in Portsmouth and Boston. Property is clean and although right off Route 1 bypass it was quiet. Easy access to downtown Portsmouth, highways and a great diner down the road. There was a problem with the room locks and the staff was very accommodating with getting us access and getting us on the road.

Get away!!
Rented 2 rooms for a quick get away weekend with our daughter & son-in law! First thought was oh no a motel (previously a few we stayed at weren't very good) But boy were we wrong! Excellent condition, exceptional clean, rooms comfortable & inviting! Located right off the highway with restaurants, and stores easy drive within minutes. Price is very reasonable and would definitely stay again! Staff is very friendly and helpful, on things locally. What you see in there pictures is what you will get!

Convienient motel stay
Spent two nights here on business. Room was neat, clean and accomodating. Would have liked a mat in the tub as was very slippery without one. Otherwise nice accomodations and breakfast was nice to have added for getting out and getting a good start to the morning. Bed was very comfortable. This location was central to where I needed to work.

Very expensive for what is a low-scale motel and not the intermediate-scale hotel is portrays itself as. Very limited breakfast options. Bad environmental practices (single-use plastic forks/knives, single-use throwaway paper dishes, plastic cups, ...). Bedhead was sticky and had hairs on it from previous guests. Bath towels had holes in them. Air conditioning/heater is extremely loud - you can't leave it on at night or while watching TV.

Horrible Room
We booked a two night stay, but the room smelled so bad from mold, mildew and dust that we decided to find another hotel the next morning at our own expense. That was a hard $300 lesson. I don’t believe the hotel rooms have been remodeled since the hotel was built decades ago. The carpet was thread bare and disgusting. The room was not just old, but it wasn’t clean. The air conditioner was emitting a foul smell so we turned it off. Even the bathroom sink was severely cracked and broken. It seems as though the manager replies to bad reviews by saying, “I’m sorry that you didn’t notice the improvements” but in all honesty, I did see someone working on the roof. I can’t imagine how bad the roof must be to rate fixing before repairing the rooms. The two positive things about this are the complimentary breakfast and the friendliness of the hotel staff. Choice Hotels should be ashamed for keeping this hotel under their brand. There are many reviews like this one…do not stay here.

We had a wonderful time. The room was clean and the front desk staff was delightful. This is a great "home base" to travel around New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts.

Damaged Shower/Terrible Service
This is our second time staying here, and the room we were given (105) was okay but when we went to take a shower we found a severely damaged shower. When we spoke to the front desk, the man said he had received numerous complaints about that room and then asked us what we wanted to do. We asked for another room, but apparently, none were available. They were unable to give us a discount/credit, and the manager would not call us back after several attempts. How do you rent a room with a damaged shower? This motel is part of the Choice Hotels' "Ascend Hotel Collection".
