Our family and my sister-in-law‘s family stayed together in this house while visiting my mother- and father-in-law, who live in Racine. We found the house very comfortable, with lots of room for both our families, for four active kids, and the ability to make good meals and all sit together to enjoy them. The dining room table sits six, and combined with the three barstools nearby, made it possible for us to sit together at meals easily. We also were able to gather around the table to do crafts or play games, because it’s quite large. In some of the houses we’ve rented, that isn’t so: this was an amenity we appreciated. The children loved having the loft bedrooms to themselves, and having doors that shut in between them made it possible for the teenagers to get some privacy when they needed it. There was more than enough room in the first bedroom to sleep all four kids with the futon, and I can see how it would be a wonderful space for large families.
We appreciated having two bathrooms, and the one in the basement was lovely and large. The one on the first story is a little cramped, and the position of the toilet is a little strange, but it didn’t bother the kids, so we made it work.
The kitchen was really bag, and it gave us the chance to make meals all together without bumping into each other. We also really appreciate it the large counter space that was available, so we could spread food out and everybody could take what they wanted. There were more than enough utensils and pans to help us prepare meals, but we did miss some of the basic condiments we often find in rental houses. In addition, there definitely needs to be more spoons. There were only four large soup spoons, and we truly felt the need for teaspoons and for many more available. Even if there had been eight spoons, there was a good chance we would have used them all during breakfast alone. However, the dishwasher worked great and we made it work. We appreciated the inclusion of children’s utensils.
The backyard looked gorgeous, and we were impressed by the screened in porch as well. It was quite cold, so we didn’t really access either, but this house would be amazing in the summer!
We were a little worried about street parking, but it worked out easily. We rarely had to park more than two or three houses away, and found spots easily even when parking for the night, which limited you to one side or the other.
The living room was super comfortable, too!
