Peacefull get away

Pondside House in Rock Valley IA
Good place to stay with family, chilling out and exploring the area. The old house has been updated and is well landscaped and furnished. We wanted to go kayaking, but the shoreline below the lawn wasn't very accessible without a way to bring the furnished kayak to a launching spot. We watched the sunset over the pond up close and personal, thanks to a neighbor who gave us permission to use his stairs to go to the shoreline. We used the fire pit to enjoy nightly fires, smores, darkness, fireflies, and a wealth of family memories. Over the three days we were there (two nights), we visited attractions in Sioux Center, Orange City, Rock Valley, and Le Mars.

Space!
Main reason we decided to go with the Rock Valley house is that it has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. We were a friend group of 4 couples. Had plenty of space and the kitchen is much bigger than pictured. Table was great for playing cards and seated the 8 of us just fine. Cooking was pleasant in the kitchen(stocked pots/pans). Overall it was a fine house to ring in the new year with friends.

Nice Stay, but a couple of bumps in the road
This was a nice property, but we got off to a bumpy start. The code to get in the property was never sent to us prior to arrival. We contacted the property managers and an hour later, we finally got the code. When we entered the property it had not been completely cleaned. Let me say that the property managers made things right and bent over backwards to rectify this situation. The property was as advertised and we had a great time. Beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room for the four of us. The town was charming and we found a top notch steakhouse, in of all places, Doon Iowa. If you stay here, check it out. You won’t be disappointed. All in all we had a nice stay and would recommend this property. Perfect for families looking to get away and spend some time playing games and exploring rural Iowa. Wonderful family vacation home
Our stay was wonderful. Aside from some issues connecting about check in and some wonky things in the house, it was spectacular. We had a party of 6, plus a dog and there was plenty of space for us all. The house was decorated with old farm decor and Boston terriers, which fit perfectly as we brought our Boston. We enjoyed the deck looking over the pond nearly every night, watching the sunset and catching up. This location was chosen as it was the halfway point between our WI and CO family. We visited Sioux Falls and the Rock Valley area, enjoying all that was offered. We will likely be back yearly for our vacations going forward. Thank you for the great stay.

Family Fun
The House by the Pond is beautifully situated and just outside of the very nice small town of Rock Valley. All three generations of our family had a great vacation at this property.

Wonderful space!!
I have stayed in VRBO's all over the country and this was a gem we found in my home town! The house had plenty of space and the setting was amazing. We had a wonderful time and I will definitely be booking it again.

A weekend away from life.
This property is absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend it to others and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again, eventually with our families as it has plenty of room, plenty to do, and is just a fantastic place.

Family Fun
Our family traveled to Iowa to see our grandson play football at Dordt University. We stayed at the house on the pond for a long weekend. We had a wonderful time cooking out, using the canoe, and sitting around the fire pit in the evening.

Versatile and Comfortable Home with Amazing Sunsets
We had a wide range of ages and interests between the 7 of us, and this house delivered! It was more spacious than I had gathered from the online photos. We could spread out and do our own thing as desired or gather in the living area or on the great deck. The more active of us used the kayaks, bikes, and traveled to the campground for swimming and fishing, while the people who wanted to watch the lake or read felt so relaxed. The kids loved the basement game room, which gave us a little peace and quiet. The four bedrooms meant we all had comfy beds with no need for air mattresses. The kitchen was roomy with all the dishes and extras we needed. The location of the house meant we had easy access to the hardware store, groceries, and campground while still being quiet and private. The hosts were responsive to our messages and solved problems quickly. I would caution if you have very young children, the stairs are steep and it would be somewhat hard to block them into a smaller area of the house due to the layout. Our 3 year old was fine. Also, the yard drops off steeply to the lake so you would want to be vigilant outside. We had a fantastic time and hope to come back again!

Lovely and cozy home set on a beautiful part of the land.
Besides the leftover hamburgers found in the oven, spending 30 minutes to clean the bbq, and some garbage found under the beds the house had lots of charm. Very fun to wake up early and walk to the pond and catch some fish!

Great Family Getaway!
Our family had a wonderful stay at Pondside! The house has everything you need. The indoor fireplace was unfortunatley not working but we did an outdoor fire one night and utilized the cozy family room. Would stay here again!

The house is SUPER cute and had everything we needed.
We had a nice relaxing getaway before school starts with the family. The house is so lovely and we enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool, cooking, and relaxing out on the deck and by the fire pit. My 13 year old enjoyed fishing at the pond and exploring the area. It was so nice to be able to bring the family dog who enjoyed watching the geese land at sunset every night. No complaints about the property as it was super clean and stocked with everything we needed. We were a little surprised that masks were not a priority in Rock Valley or surrounding towns. If we had to do it over again we would have brought our own groceries. Thanks for a relaxing getaway Pondside! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Very clean and spacious. Awesome sunsets and campfires. Highly recommend
Check in and out went smooth. Very roomy. Next time wouldn't need to bring so much as there is plenty of amenities already there. The firepit and backyard were the main hangout places. Only downfall for me was the fish weren't biting, but that may be just bad time of year and cant swim in the pond next to house. But still recommend to anyone looking for a nice getaway to relax.

We had a fantastic stay here at the Pondside! It had everything we needed and more and was very comfortable. The outside bin for recycling was full when we arrived so we will leave ours in the metal can but will set it outside for easier cleanup.

Quick trip to pondside
Our family wanted to ya ska quick trip and get out the house for a few days and The Pondside was perfect. The view of the pond was great, the neighborhood was quiet and the kids really enjoyed all of the space. There was plenty for them to do inside and outside and my husband and I relaxed on the back deck overlooking the pond. There are plenty of places to eat in town and the access to the fishing dock for the pond is very close to the property. The Kitchen was well stocked with all the essentials. We highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

Beautiful view overlooking pond
This house was very relaxing and the view overlooking the pond was amazing. We spent the majority of our stay on the back deck overlooking the pond. The sunsets were beautiful and loved the nature sounds at all hours. You almost did not notice, that you were right in town with the serene view in the back. Perfect house to relax in and that what we were looking for.

Close to home getaway
Pondside had all that we needed for our family of six to enjoy a short vacation away from home. We took advantage of kayaking, fishing, biking, and swimming, all at (or near) this house. Plenty of spaces to spread out inside, or congregate, for meals, games, or lengthy conversations. The deck overlooking the pond was our favorite location - and the fire pit was a nice bonus. Steve and Sandi were readily available - either to check that all went smoothly, or answer any questions we had during our stay. (Also, the grocery store in town had all that we needed - next time we wouldn't tote so much in on the front end!) All in all, we were quite pleased with our stay, and have lots of memories - particularly in this unique time!

Home away from home
We loved our stay! Plenty of room for our party of 5. The location is beautiful, sunset over the pond was breathtaking. Check in was a breeze and the house was immaculate.

We rented the house because my husband was working in the area, it was he first week back to work after be off for neck surgery and the owner were great to work with and the house felt like home after a long day back at work!

Beautiful property
This was a great place to stay for my family! Having a room and bathroom for each one of us was so convenient! Being able to go to the store and cook for my family and daughter that goes to Dordt was a blessing. The kitchen was wonderful to cook in and had everything we needed!
